Ahhh. I was completely hooked from the very first page. I spent the ENTIRE day reading it—neglecting my responsibilities and being completely engrossed. I don’t regret a thing! 

Hailee was a spitfire who didn’t take crap from anyone; least of all her jerkface step-brother, Jason. What I liked about her most was that while she may have been tough, she showed a vulnerability that immediately made her more relatable. 

Then there’s Cameron. He was...complex. But I’m glad we got his POV because it also showed us a side to him that he didn’t show the rest of the world. The way he was with Hailee didn’t exactly hit me as a hate to love trope. Mainly because I could clearly see that Hailee was the one for Cameron. Even if he didn’t see it himself. They had insane chemistry that couldn’t be denied for long. So hot!

The real douchebag of the whole book is no doubt Jason. I look forward to seeing him redeem himself in his book. Because the boy is one hundred percent on my shit list. You’ll see once you read the book for yourself!

This is the type of book that I’m going to be reading again and again—and it won’t ever get old. Now comes the hard part waiting for the next book! I know it’s going to be SUPER juicy and I can’t wait.

Review:

I’m sure many of you are excited about finally having 99 Percent Mine in your hands and ready to be devoured. Sally Thorne’s The Hating Game was an instant hit that had readers falling in love all around the world. When I first heard about Thorn’s new book coming out, I jumped and shouted with joy. After all, romantic comedies are my jam—and who better to feed my addiction but this wonderful author?

Darcy at first glance is hardcore—smartass extraordinaire, has a bit of wonderlust, and doesn’t take crap from anyone. She and her brother, Jamie, inherit a cottage from their grandmother. A cottage that needs a bunch of repairs before they can sell it. That’s where Tom comes in—the perfect man and Jamie’s best friend. Tom’s always been off limits but this time, Darcy wants nothing more than to make him her own. 

While I enjoyed this story immensely it didn’t wow me as much as I expected it to. There were times when I had a hard time understanding Darcy because she was a bit rough around the edges and was defensive a lot of the time. You’re not weak when asking for help every once in awhile. Despite my occasional dislike of Darcy; I really did like her. She was spunky and fun. I liked that under all that raw emotion, was Young a regular woman who was afraid to show her vulnerability. I think we can all relate to that. 

Overall, I think Thorne is fast on her way to becoming a household name in the romance genre. Her books are witty, fresh, and romantic. All things I look for and adore when trying to pick out my next obsession. Recommended for readers who love a shy yet loyal hero; and a heroine who isn’t afraid to speak her mind.

Review-

Hmm. If you’re looking good for a story that’s completely different, then I suggest looking no further. For Never and Always was a fast-paced thriller/sci-fi story that confused me at times, but was interesting all the same. 

Liv and her friends Morgan, Clay and boyfriend, Nathan, are in a terrible accident one night. Leaving Liv dead and alive. Her soul is now in Morgan’s body, while her physical self has passed on. Now she has to navigate her way into Morgan’s seemingly perfect world that may not be so perfect after all. 

I’m not gonna lie, this was one weird book. I was a bit upset at the fact that I never truly got an answer as to why Liv became Morgan. I guess I just expected more or maybe it just completely went over my head. That tends to happen. I did love seeing Liv find out how she never truly knew her best friend at all. Do any of us truly ever know someone?

Clay was a great book boyfriend and I enjoyed watching him become someone that Liv could love and depend on. Overall, I think this was a great story that definitely kept me on my toes.

***Best Friend Guest Post***

I think best friends make the world go round. Who do we go to when we’re hurt or sad or those times we’re extremely happy for whatever reason. That’s an easy question to answer—our best friends. Which brings me to how I met my best friend, Sarah. I started blogging back in December of 2011 when I picked up a book I loved and reviewed it on Goodreads. A publisher asked if they could get my email so I could join some blog tours and my thoughts immediately led to what in the world is that. 

Then started my love for writing about books I adore with people who also adored books as much as me. One in particular became a friend. I needed help with reviews and asked if anybody would be interested in joining my team. Sarah, applied and we’ve been best friends ever since. 

The cool thing about meeting your best friend online is the sole fact that you get closer from all the talking through text, email, and phone calls. Sarah’s from Nevada while I’m from Texas. Two people who probably never would have ever crossed paths, became best friends through a mutual love for books. How amazing is that? Still been six years and I’ve seen Sarah a handful of times. I’ve visited her in Vegas when RT was happening and she’s come down to Texas to visit and explore as well. Several times she’s even come to book events with me!

There have been many times where I wondered where I would be without her. She’s my sounding voice when things get tough, or someone to help put a smile on my face when I need it most. I’m so grateful for her and everything she’s done for me. While we both have different tastes in books, our love for the written word will never change. Especially since it’s the whole reason we became best friends.

Review-

Bring Me Their Hearts ends on such a cliffhanger, I don’t know what to do with myself. Sara Wolf is an author I’d follow anywhere; simply for the fact that she gave me Jack Hunter in the Lovely Vicious Trilogy. It was inevitable that I would choose to read and review this book as well. 

I’ll be honest, it took me a hot minute to truly get into the story. Why? I have no idea. The main character is spunky and hilarious; I loved her immediately. I just couldn’t, for the life of me, care for the story. The more I read though, the more interesting this new world became. The world building and the story in all, was different. Good but very different. You have beings that are called Heartless—they literally don’t have a heart and witches control them. 

“I might be a thief, but I’m also a romantic. I’m after his heart.”

Zera, our main girl, is a Heartless. She’s given a huge task—to seduce the crown prince and take his heart. In turn, she’ll get the freedom she desires for her and her friends. Things prove to be difficult once she meets Prince Lucien and see how kind and caring he is. But Zera only has so little time to get the job done until everything is too late. 

Despite the fact that the book started off slow, I clearly enjoyed the story very much. The comedic way the heroine would handle situations, made the book so fun. I like books that don’t take themselves too seriously. I think Wolf has a great imagination and I’m so happy she’s shared this particular story with us. Now, I’m not too needy when it comes to reading material but...can we get the sequel like now?

Review-

The Kiss Quotient first had me when I heard about how adorably awkward the heroine, Stella was. I’ve now read and finished the book, only to realize that while she may be adorably awkward, she’s so much more than that. Stella is the type of character that has you wishing she were your best friend because she’s so completely honest and kind. It’s hard not to fall in love with her charm and naivety. 

Stella is need of some loving—more like she needs help perfecting the act of intimacy. So she does what any intelligent and wealthy woman would do and hires an escort. Enter Michael—said escort. One of the coolest (and best) things about the book is the fact that all the roles were reversed. Instead of a wealthy man picking up an escort; it’s the woman. Think Pretty Woman in reverse! Stella has the status and the money, even if she doesn’t quite fit the mold of how an insanely rich person would act. 

Michael is just trying to survive and help out his family the only way he knows how—by selling his body for money. When he and Stella meet for the first time, she treats him as an equal, not someone that she’s paying for
intimacy. The thing is, Stella starts wanting his expertise in more than just sex. Michael doesn’t do repeat clients for many reasons though. So why can’t he stop thinking of her?

I loved, adored, and cried such happy tears while reading this book. It’s one that’s completely unique to the genre, in my humble opinion. I loved the fact that the hero is Vietnamese (well part anyways) and the heroine has Aspergers. Huang brings us something completely fresh and in the process will hopefully help open the eyes of those who don’t understand autism as well. I feel like this is a changing point for the autistic community (and those with other forms of disabilities) as a whole. You aren’t alone. 

Diverse books are absolutely something we need more of—and this one will most certainly not disappoint. It’s smart and sexy—a lethal combination! Seriously, if you’re in need of something sexy yet romantic, and a hero that genuinely cares about those around him, including the heroine, pick this up. You won’t regret it! These characters will stay with you long after you finish reading.

Review:

Holy moly! I finished the book in three hours. I meant to read a few pages before bed, but then I couldn’t stop reading. This was so damn good! I just thought I’d throw that out there. There’s a juicy forbidden romance plotline, betrayals, crazy ex-girlfriends, and pretty much spending the whole book wondering how everything comes together. 

Oh boy, did it deliver! The twist was perfection that I didn’t even see it coming. It was so obvious but I still didn’t see it. I love a good mystery. I’m the story we follow two separate characters—Gabe and Elyse and the side characters, Catherine, Sasha, and Aiden. All these characters lives are entwined in some kind of way. Gabe is dating Sasha—she’s crazy and manipulative though, so luckily he sees the light and breaks it off. 

That is until he starts getting threatening texts on social media that he knows pinpoint to Sasha. But proving it’s her is only half the battle. Then Gabe meets Catherine in an unusual way and he obviously can’t stop thinking about her. Catherine’s got secrets that leave her guarded and somewhat standoffish. Gabe wants her anyway. 

Elyse has always been okay with being in the shadow of someone else’s spotlight. Her home life isn’t great, so she does what she can to get by. The day she wins the coveted role of Juliet in Romeo + Juliet, is the day her life changes. And not for the better—though she wished it was. 

I want to shout on the rooftop at the top of my lungs how much I loved this story and the characters. It wasn’t a complex story but it did pull at my heartstrings. The biggest thing an author can do, is make me feel all the feels. Once that happens, I usually become a fan for life of said author. If you’re looking for a story that seems quiet in presentation but takes a mean punch in the end, don’t hesitate to read this! I dare you to try to put it down after the first chapter.

Review-

Omggggg! I’m positively GIDDY! These books just keep getting better and better. I did it again—I started a book that I only wanted to read a few pages on. Well a few pages turned to several and before I knew it, I was done. Then there’s this bonus deleted scene at the end of the book that has me feeling all kinds of love and fucked up. Because it was hot as SHIT!

Anyways, before my whole review becomes just me talking about that deleted scene... I’ll talk to you a bit about the book. Tacet a Mortuis starts off where Broken Puppets ended. For those of you that read it, you already know all about how Ms. Jones left us hanging! For real, my mouth dropped at the end of that story. 

Madison and Bishop are the main couple of the story. Don’t be fooled though, every single character in the series is important. I’ve grown to love them all as if they were my family. So, while some may think that this has a bunch of aide characters, don’t. They all have stories to tell. There’s one I particularly need to know about between a certain sexy manwhore. Plus, Madison has an amazing best friend, Tatum. 

There were so many secrets, betrayals, sex, unrequited love, and oh man, the darkness of these books are what make them so addicting. Bishop is...something else. No words could ever describe how amazingly well written he is. Mr. Broody has so many shades to him that I’m always surprised when he’s given a little bit more of himself to us. 

Overall, if you’re into dark, sex-positive, and realistic and flawed characters, please go and buy the first book if you haven’t already. I’m already anticipating the continuation of the series!
