Review— Crescendo: A Silver City Story by Lilith K. Duat

In an era of Britneys and Christinas, 17 year old April Lee hit it big with her debut album "This Girl Punx", and the hit singles "Skid Sister" and "Confusion".
She was top of the charts and took the pop-punk world by storm. Now, at 22, she's hit rock-bottom.

May Hart is a Victorian goth fae princess. She’s all tortured wailing and flowy skirts. Snow white skin, jet black hair, ice blue-grey eyes. She’s part Ice queen, part murder of crows. As front-woman for the band Ethereal, her haunting vocals made hits out of the songs “Plastic Garden”, “The Eternal” and “Take me from Death”. Now is the time to go solo. Can she succeed? Of course she can.

When both women are tapped to record the theme-song to a new super hero movie, they begin to grow close. But the business is very two faced and both April and May carry with them dark secrets. Can they look past each other's hurt and find love and stellar careers?

CRESCENDO is part of SILVER CITY STORIES and is a first-time lesbian erotic romance intended for adults only. It deals with dark subject matter, abuse, violence and celebrates sexual expression between consenting adults

Crescendo is a story about two women in the entertainment industry that eventually grow close and fall in love. April and May are what I like to call, on fire! They complimented each other very well. I liked their relationship a lot. This is a novella, so it’s fairly short. Short, fast, yet still satisfying! Smoking hot chemistry and music go so well together! If you’re looking for a sexy, easy read, this is the one for you!

Release Day Review—Badly Behaved by Meagan Brandy

I'm a Monet.

A chameleon.

I'm whatever I must be.

And what I must be is a flawless daughter, a skilled socialite, and the perfect prize to the man who signed along the dotted line.

Not that I'm complaining.

I'm all for a contractual agreement, a quick and clean catapult into the next phase of rich girl life. One that takes little thought, less effort, and zero devotion.

It's exactly what I want.

An impassive life.

A calculated future.

Or, it was until the lights went out, darkness took over, and I learned what it meant to live.

To feel.

To fall.

But everyone knows what thrives in the night burns in the light and flames were among us.

There is no escape.

No turning back.

No ending within my control.

My mother always says our choices determine our consequences.

I hate it when she's right.

This is an all-new 103k word standalone romance about a rich girl and the trouble she finds herself in when she catches the eye of a guy unlike the ones in her world.

Badly Behaved was so good! I loved it from start to finish. Jameson is that female protagonist that you can’t help but love the heck out of. She’s strong yet vulnerable. I think that’s what I adored most about her.

Let me tell you, I thought this book was hot. And if you loved Brandy’s Boys of Brayshaw series, then you won’t want to miss this one! Ransom and Jameson were on fire. Their story is one that I can jump on board with because it dealt with a female lead that gained love and a family when she wasn’t even looking for it.

She grew up in a somewhat loveless upbringing. Which brings her to the here and now where Jameson didn’t believe in fairytales or all they entailed. It takes three beautiful boys to show her there’s more to life than just loneliness.

I also enjoyed a certain couple in the book so much. It came as a surprise even though it shouldn’t have. They were my favorite though! Overall, I enjoyed this entirely too much. I got nothing done because I just had to finish this beautiful love story.

“USED was amazing. Like seriously amazing. I can't remember the last time I hated to put a book down so I could go to sleep and then immediately pick it up to finish it the next morning. And yet, here we are and that's what I did.” ~ Samantha Chase, New York Times Bestselling Author

“Rarely have I read a book so vividly described, so rich with emotion, that I felt like I lived it. USED is the kind of book that engages your heart and takes you on a journey that leaves you hopeful and empowered by the end.” ~ Erika Kelly, Award Winning Author of the Rock Star Romance Series

Used was haunting. It was beautiful. And I know it’s a a feeling that won’t leave anytime soon. Sabra’s story is emotional, raw, and hopeful. At least it was in the end. It’ll  embed itself into your very being. It sounds contrite but I’m changed.

The power that Dunbar was able to evoke through words had left me breathless. At times my stomach was in knots but in the end I felt whole. Trevor. There aren’t enough words to describe him adequately because that man definitely is a hero. He’s patient and perfect for Sabra.

It’s hard to believe this is a debut novel but it is! Overcoming any sort of abuse can be a battle that one may feel can never be won. I felt the author handled abuse with the utmost care and respect for those that have gone through situations like these. So thank you for that! I loved this book so much and can’t wait to see what journey Kate will take us on next.

Blog Tour Review—Float Plan by Trish Doller

Book Info

Jack Copy:

Heartbroken by the loss of her fiancé, adventurous Anna finds a second chance at love with an Irish sailor in this riveting, emotional romance.

After a reminder goes off for the Caribbean sailing trip Anna was supposed to take with her fiancé, she impulsively goes to sea in the sailboat he left her, intending to complete the voyage alone.

But after a treacherous night’s sail, she realizes she can’t do it by herself and hires Keane, a professional sailor, to help. Much like Anna, Keane is struggling with a very different future than the one he had planned. As romance rises with the tide, they discover that it’s never too late to chart a new course.

In Trish Doller’s unforgettable Float Plan, starting over doesn't mean letting go of your past, it means making room for your future.

"The perfect escape. Fresh, funny, and romantic. I wish I could sail away with this book." - Meg Cabot, New York Times bestselling author of The Princess Diaries and Little Bridge series

I think it’s the mark of a good author to be able make you mourn for a character you barely know. Float Plan started off making my stomach twist and my heart rate to speed up. It also caused my eyes to leak. Anna’s living in a perpetual nightmare after the loss of her fiancé. What a loss it is too...

“Even the vastness of the blue sea surrounding me feels less empty than the prospect of a life without him.“

I don’t know if it was the timing of reading the story but I was filled with immense sadness.  I felt Anna’s grief as if it were my own. I felt her fiancé Ben’s grief as if it were me. I felt it all. And it was only the second chapter.

While I felt the underlying dark cloud surrounding the book, it’s actually a pretty uplifting romance story about living life to its fullest. To always remember that life has beautiful surprises when you least expect them. But need them the most.

Cover Reveal—The Wolf and the Woodsman by Ava Reid

Happy cover reveal to Ava Reid! The cover and synopsis both sound amazing. I, for one, can’t wait to get my hands on the book.

Preorder here:

Taken from the myths and legends of her Jewish and Hungarian heritage, and weaving that with diverse cultural magic, THE WOLF AND THE WOODSMANsets Évike and Gáspár on a dark, powerful journey that is full of tradition and yet feels entirely unique.  When soldiers arrive from the Holy Order of Woodsmen to claim a girl to sacrifice to the king, Évike is betrayed by her fellow villagers and surrendered. But when Évike and the Woodsman’s captain are attacked en route, they form a tenuous pact, forcing them both to decide whose side they are on, and what they are willing to give up for a nation that never cared for them at all. From the truly vicious magic to the sizzling heat between Évike and Gáspár, the twists and turns of this stand-alone will delight and surprise readers as they fall in love with Évike and connect with her struggles and triumphs.

Ava Reid was born in Manhattan and raised right across the Hudson River in Hoboken, but currently lives in Palo Alto, where the weather is too sunny and the people are too friendly. She has a degree in political science from Barnard College, focusing on religion and ethnonationalism. The Wolf and the Woodsman is her debut novel.

“Reid’s fast-paced debut examines religious freedom through the lens of myth and magic. … The convincing enemies-to-lovers romance, fascinating religion-based magic system, and thoughtful examination of zealotry make this a notable debut.” – Publishers Weekly

"Gorgeously written and grimly real, The Wolf and the Woodsman is both a myth and a mirror, a bloody fable about two people caught in the jaws of history. It quite literally took my breath away. It has the unsettling-but-compelling gore of Henderson's The Year of the Witching, the folkloric lilt of The Bear and the Nightingale, and the moral complexity of Seeing Like a State. I’m obsessed.”--Alix E Harrow, Hugo-award winning author of The Ten Thousand Doors of January

"THE WOLF AND THE WOODSMAN is a book that made me remember how beautiful and gut wrenching historical fantasy can be. It’s a fundamentally Jewish tale, one that gripped me from beginning to end. A riveting debut that will keep you up all night, desperately chasing the heart-pounding conclusion.”--Victoria Lee, author of The Fever King

"THE WOLF AND THE WOODSMAN, beautifully written and expertly told, is a darkly magical tale from beginning to end. I was equal parts terrified and delighted, somehow swept away and grounded in a world as beautiful as it is deadly.”--Isabel Ibañez, author of Woven in Moonlight

“Évike may be the only one in her village without ‘powers,’ but that doesn’t stop her from being an in-your-face heroine who stands up for the things she believes in and never backs down. Reid has crafted a story that is not only relevant for our times, but has timelessness about it that truly makes it shine. The Wolf and the Woodsman is not a book I will soon forget.”– Genevieve Gornichec, author of The Witch’s Heart

“Combining religion, magic, and evocative language, Ava Reid has created a daring fantasy world full of imagination and fierce heroics.”--Luanne G. Smith, bestselling author of The Vine Witch
