•R*E*V*E*R*S*E•H*A*R*E*M•

What is reverse harem, you may ask? Well, I’ll gladly tell you. It’s a story about one woman and several men—usually consisting of 3 or more. I’ve read some harems that've had 9! I can’t even handle one let alone nine of them. But that’s the best part about these books, is that they’re complete fantasy.

I understand readers concern over the fact that one woman will eventually fuck (excuse my language) all these men. It’s not always about that though. I like the RH stories that have emotional connections that eventually lead on to physical relationships. Those I find to way more comfortable with and enjoy over the ones that have the woman immediately sleeping with the men.

I’ve gone and put up a few that I think you should try if you’re at all curious. These are only a few I put up but there’s so many more in the genre that you should research! Who knows, maybe you’ll find your next book boyfriend? Boyfriends, I mean ;)

Blurb:
Hi, I’m Alexis Delaney. I’m your average 17-year-old girl. Except I can see the dead. And talk to the dead. And push them away and, well, help them move on. So..okay, I’m not your average 17-year-old girl. For years I’ve been struggling to survive the souls still roaming around. The shitheads always seem to find me. Moving from town to town every few months never helped either. More dead just always find me. But things are changing for me now. I’m moving in with my uncle Rory and cousin Tara. I’m finally going to be able to do normal teenage stuff I’ve been missing out on. Right?

Well, if this one bitch of a ghost could leave me alone on campus that would be great. Especially since I haven’t told my new friends about my abilities. Can you believe this? Five
good looking guys practically adopt me on my first day of
school, and I still think they’re a bit nuts for it. Now if I can only just keep my life with the dead from mixing with my normal life, everything would be great. Yeah...I don’t see that happening either. But I’m going to give it a shot. Who knows? It might work.

Blurb:
When Evelyn Maynard receives a scholarship to the exclusive Bradford Hills Institute, she’s determined to make a fresh start. The Institute is world renowned for educating and training Variants – the 18% of the population fortunate enough to have superhuman abilities. As a human, she’s lucky to be admitted.

She’s done with fake identities, running and lying but once again she finds herself surrounded by secrets.

Some she’s been keeping her whole life.

Some have been kept from her.

Some she finds herself dragged into…

Ethan, Josh, Tyler and Alec have some of the rarest Variant abilities Evelyn has ever seen. They fascinate, intrigue and attract her, but is it their abilities, their own secrets or
something more that Evelyn can’t seem to stay away from?
The secrets they keep could drag Evelyn so deep into their
dangerous and exciting world that she’ll never be the same.
And the answers she finds could get them all killed.

Blurb:
I'm not all that special, really. Or uncommon. I'm sure there are a lot of girls with old gypsy blood who see the dead, have killer cults hunting their family, and turn into something that gets scary when they panic. Yep. Completely unoriginal, if I
do say so myself.
Move along. Nothing to see here. Nope. I'm just an ordinary girl.

I wish people would believe that.

I've been labeled as one thing or another for most of my life:
Death Girl.
Crazy Gypsy Girl.
Gothic Chick.
Monster...

It took my mother's death for me to finally start getting answers about what's really been going on. Unfortunately, most of the answers come from men...who aren't just men. Somehow, I've gone and landed myself in a world truly filled with monsters, and I'm starting to think this is where I should have been all along.

Only...I don't understand what's going on. I'm walking into the middle of a story that's thousands of years old, and I'm
the new girl on the block who doesn't have a clue how this world even works. My only guides happen to be the most lethal of the bunch.

They decide who lives or dies. They decide who gets stabbed or tortured.
Yeah...

I've gone and drawn attention to myself, and the ones paying attention are the ones everyone else seems to fear.

How do these things always happen to me?

Although it wasn’t dark yet, Althea had already lit large candles inside lanterns that were placed around the edge of the infinity pool and on a few adjacent tables. Lucy stood near the low wall and gazed out at the vast sea. She would never get tired of this view. Whether it was sunrise or sunset, it was always spectacular. Tonight was no exception. The sun was just beginning to set, and the sky was ablaze with red at the horizon, shifting to orange above. The previously light blue sky was becoming a deeper blue.
In the
background, the Grateful Dead sang about standing on the moon, looking down at the earth. And that’s what it felt like. She smiled when the singer described one of the colors of the American flag as indigo. Andthere it was yet again, their connection to indigo blue. It was another tiny reference to the thread that connected her to Justin, but its meaning resonated with her. The name of his band, the shared color of their eyes, and the hue of the stone she had spent years studying.

There were a few clouds at the horizon, and Lucy gasped when light from the sun broke through the clouds in long beams of light. Where was Justin? He should be with her to watch this incredible sunset.

The Grateful Dead song ended and it was quiet for a few moments. Then the opening
notes of the vocal standard, “The Very Thought of You” filled the air. Instead of the
Billie
Holiday version she was familiar with, she heard Elvis Costello crooning.

The sound of footsteps approaching made her smile, and a strong pair of arms slipped around her waist. She leaned her head back into Justin’s chest.
“You’re stunning,” Justin whispered into her ear as he placed soft kisses along the side of her neck. “Althea was just leaving when I came looking for you.” He took the wine glass from her hand and took a sip before setting it down.
“Hmm,” Lucy sighed, as the sunset became even more dramatic.
“What are you thinking, my love?”

“I was thinking how much I love being here. It’sunimaginably beautiful and special. We just arrived, and I never want to leave.”
“Turn around,” Justin said in a deep voice.

Lucy turned slowly in his arms.
“Aren’t you handsome tonight?” She took him in, dragging her eyes from head to toe.
“Just for you,” he said, his arms wide. He wore white linen trousers with a sky-blue, open-necked shirt. His skin glowed with a light tan from the afternoon by the pool, enhancing his indigo eyes. Justin held her gaze, and his expression became serious. “I feel the same about being here with you.” His voice was rough and full of emotion.

exciting and passionate, and the mystical/fantasy/paranormal aspect just adds another interesting layer to their already wonderful connection.”  Live Through Books Blog

“Book two of the Indigo series is no less moving than the first one.  Kate amps up the romance and sex in this book over the first one. She also gives Lucy some backbone that was very troubling to me in book one…I personally can’t wait to see the finish of the
story in the next book and like many of the character changes she shows in this one.”  Wicked Cool Flight

“Waiting for You” is like an explosion of events and emotions in the Indigo series. There are so many things going on and there is a twist there that I would have never predicted. I was addicted to Lucy and Justin’s relationship and I read every chapter looking forward for the next! … Kate McBrien has done such a wonderful job with “Waiting for You.” It has a lot of action, it has love and passion and so many other emotions. I was reading and reading until the wee hours of the night and that says something about this author’s gifts.”  Lilly’s Book Reviews

Review—99 Percent Mine by Sally Thorne

Publisher: William Morrow
Published: January 29, 2019
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Source: Print ARC
Rating: 3.5 Stars

Blurb:
Crush: a strong and often short-lived infatuation, particularly for someone beyond your reach…

Darcy Barrett has undertaken a global survey of men. She’s travelled the world, and can categorically say that no one measures up to Tom Valeska, whose only flaw is that Darcy’s twin brother Jamie saw him first and claimed him forever as his best friend. Despite Darcy’s best efforts, Tom’s off limits and loyal to her brother, 99%. That’s the problem with finding her dream man at age eight and peaking in her photography career at age twenty—ever since, she’s had to learn to settle for good enough.

When Darcy and Jamie inherit a tumble-down cottage from their grandmother, they’re left with strict instructions to bring it back to its former glory and sell the property. Darcy plans to be in an aisle seat halfway across the ocean as soon as the renovations start, but before she can cut and run, she finds a familiar face on her porch: house-flipper extraordinaire Tom’s arrived, he’s bearing power tools, and he’s single for the first time in almost a decade.

Suddenly Darcy’s considering sticking around to make sure her twin doesn’t ruin the cottage’s inherent magic with his penchant for grey and chrome. She’s definitely not staying because of her new business partner’s tight t-shirts, or that perfect face that's inspiring her to pick up her camera again. Soon sparks are flying—and it’s not the faulty wiring. It turns out one percent of Tom’s heart might not be enough for Darcy anymore. This time around, she’s switching things up. She’s going to make Tom Valeska 99 percent hers.

Review:

I’m sure many of you are excited about finally having 99 Percent Mine in your hands and ready to be devoured. Sally Thorne’s The Hating Game was an instant hit that had readers falling in love all around the world. When I first heard about Thorn’s new book coming out, I jumped and shouted with joy. After all, romantic comedies are my jam—and who better to feed my addiction but this wonderful author?

Darcy at first glance is hardcore—smartass extraordinaire, has a bit of wonderlust, and doesn’t take crap from anyone. She and her brother, Jamie, inherit a cottage from their grandmother. A cottage that needs a bunch of repairs before they can sell it. That’s where Tom comes in—the perfect man and Jamie’s best friend. Tom’s always been off limits but this time, Darcy wants nothing more than to make him her own.

While I enjoyed this story immensely it didn’t wow me as much as I expected it to. There were times when I had a hard time understanding Darcy because she was a bit rough around the edges and was defensive a lot of the time. You’re not weak when asking for help every once in awhile. Despite my occasional dislike of Darcy; I really did like her. She was spunky and fun. I liked that under all that raw emotion, was Young a regular woman who was afraid to show her vulnerability. I think we can all relate to that.

Overall, I think Thorne is fast on her way to becoming a household name in the romance genre. Her books are witty, fresh, and romantic. All things I look for and adore when trying to pick out my next obsession. Recommended for readers who love a shy yet loyal hero; and a heroine who isn’t afraid to speak her mind.

*Thank you to both Goodreads & the publisher for sending me a free copy for my honest and unbiased opinions.*
