Synopsis:

Every Day meets Cloud Atlas in this heart-racing, space- and time-bending, epic new trilogy from New York Times bestselling author Claudia Gray.

Marguerite Caine’s physicist parents are known for their radical scientific achievements. Their most astonishing invention: the Firebird, which allows users to jump into parallel universes, some vastly altered from our own. But when Marguerite’s father is murdered, the killer—her parent’s handsome and enigmatic assistant Paul—escapes into another dimension before the law can touch him.

Marguerite can’t let the man who destroyed her family go free, and she races after Paul through different universes, where their lives entangle in increasingly familiar ways. With each encounter she begins to question Paul’s guilt—and her own heart. Soon she discovers the truth behind her father’s death is more sinister than she ever could have imagined.

A Thousand Pieces of You explores a reality where we witness the countless other lives we might lead in an amazingly intricate multiverse, and ask whether, amid infinite possibilities, one love can endure.

Review:

This is my first book by author Claudia Gray, and it won't be my last. A Thousand Pieces of You is a brilliantly told story about a girl who is after the murderer that ruined her family and life. What's so unique about the book is that is happens in all different types of dimensions. I thought that made the book one of a kind indeed. The cover is absolutely gorgeous and fits in perfectly with the story.

I've actually found this review kind of hard to write. There's so much I want to say but then it would be giving away some key points. I'll have to keep this short which may be hard because I loved this book so much.

"These dimensions aren't off in faraway outer space. They're literally all around us, even within us, but because they exist in another reality, we can't perceive them."

How are they able to travel in different dimensions, you ask? It's a little device called the Firebird and as you read in the synopsis, the user is able to jump in to parallel universes. It's quite cool.

The book starts off with Marguerite as herself in the parallel universe. In this dimension, her family died from a crash and she lives in the high society with her aunt in London. It's there that she's able to contact her family friend Theo, who's also in the same universe having used the Firebird to find Paul; the man who murdered Marguerite's father in cold blood. Together they'll embark on an adventure of a life time.

In A Thousands Pieces of You, not everything is what it seems. You make think you have the plot figured out but then Gray throws a fast one at you. And bam! You're just sitting there reading and asking yourself, did that just happen? It definitely kept me on my toes. The story flows well and before you know it, it's all over. I read the book way too fast and now having to wait for the second book is going to be excruciating.

The romance was stunning and absolutely gorgeous. I don't want to be spoilery, so I won't tell you too much. Just know that it's perfect as much of the book is. I think romance that builds over time is always the best. Love at first sight can work sometimes but in this case I am glad it isn't the type of fast love. It's also amazing how true and real the love is between the characters. Take the below quote for example.
"Lieutenant Markov and I are not the same man," he says. Nobody knows that better than I do. But we're not completely different, either. The one way we were most alike was-was how we felt about you."

Swoon. That is all :)

Overall, this is a wonderful book to add to you TBR list. The storyline is different, there's tons of action, the romance is swoon-worthy, and it's just an all around fantastic book. If you're a person who also likes strong heroines, then you'll love Marguerite. The supporting cast is also fabulous. Please do yourself a favor and go get this book now!

About the Author:
Claudia Gray is not my real name. I didn't choose a pseudonym because my real name is unpleasant (it isn't), because I'd always dreamed of calling myself this (I haven't) or even because I'm hiding from the remnants of that international diamond-smuggling cartel I smashed in 2003 (Interpol has taken care of them). In short, I took a pseudonym for no real reason whatsoever. Sometimes this is actually the best reason to do things.

I live in New Orleans. So far, in life, I've been a disc jockey, a lawyer, a journalist and an extremely bad waitress, just to name a few. I especially like to spend time traveling, hiking, reading and listening to music. More than anything else, I enjoy writing.
