Release Day Blitz- Stepbrother Dearest by Penelope Ward

Stepbrother Dearest
By Penelope Ward
Release Date: September 29, 2014

Book Summary:

You’re not supposed to want the one who torments you.

When my stepbrother, Elec, came to live with us my senior year, I wasn’t prepared for how much of a jerk he’d be.

I hated that he took it out on me because he didn’t want to be here.
I hated that he brought girls from our high school back to his room.
But what I hated the most was the unwanted way my body reacted to him.

At first, I thought all he had going for him were his rock-hard tattooed abs and chiseled face. Then, things started changing between us, and it all came to a head one night.

Just as quickly as he’d come into my life, he was gone back to California.

It had been years since I’d seen Elec.

When tragedy struck our family, I’d have to face him again.

And holy hell, the teenager who made me crazy was now a man that drove me insane.

I had a feeling my heart was about to get broken again.

Stepbrother Dearest is a standalone novel.

**Contains graphic sexual content and harsh language. It is only appropriate for adult readers age 18

Review-
Ever since I first saw a teaser of Penelope's newest book, I knew I had to get my hands on it. Forbidden romance can never get old with all of its sexual tension and the guilty pleasure of its forbidden-ness. Step-siblings? Um, check and mate. Please sign me up!

The book starts off with Greta as a seventeen year old girl who is getting to meet her step-brother Elec for the first time. When she first meets him she can't help but notice how beautiful he is. While he may be very attractive, Elec's a "huge dick". No, really he's an asshole!

Like Greta though, I was able to look passed him being a douchebag because I was intrigued. Who was this beautiful, broody boy? And why do I feel like he'll set my loins on fire? Kidding, kidding. Well... Kind of. Anyways, he's an asshat to Greta, yet she never tells him where he can stick it. It's almost as if she can tell there's more to him than meets the eye.

One night changes everything and Greta will truly never be the same. The next seven years of her life will be spent a bit lifeless in some ways. She basically goes through the motions everyday.

When tragedy strikes, Greta and Elec find themselves coming face to face after all these years. Tensions are high in more ways than one and Greta still hasn't ever let go of their past.

Step-Brother Dearest was a book filled with so much angst and yummy goodness that's Elec. I could totally see the appeal of him and why Greta never stood a chance. My heart was a mix of emotions and at times I felt I would get emotional whiplash from it all.

The sex. Yes, there's sex and it's as hot as you imagined it. Sexual tension and sex in books can make or break it for me. This story definitely excelled in that department and I can honestly say that Ward outdid herself. I read one particular scene more than once or twice. Who's counting? Just make sure you are ready to take a shower if need be.

I liked that the book wasn't just about the sex. The writing flows well and is easy to read. Step-Brother Dearest can be seen as emotional and at times dramatic but other times I actually laughed. Books that can make you feel that way are keepers. Nothing ever was too over the top and ridiculous that it was unbelievable. The story was as real as the sun. In mind at least.

The characters were one of kind and you easily fall in love with them. The type of characters that can't possibly be fictional because they're just that bad ass!
