Blog Tour: More Than Her by Jay McClean

More Than Her (More Series book 3 by Jay McLean Publication Date: November 18, 2013 Published By: Jay Mclean BLURB: For every action there is an equal or opposite reaction." For every choice you make there are rewards, or there are consequences. It was my choice to walk away the first time. And my choice to chase her the second. But sometimes you don't get a choice, and all you get are the consequences.” "Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.” Unless that someone is Logan Matthews. Because loving him didn't give me the strength to walk away. It didn't give me the courage to fight for him. And when it was over, all it gave me was a broken heart.

REVIEW-
Mm this had the right amount of angst that's perfectly delicious. Just as deliciously sexy as Logan. Sigh. Logan is so cute. I loved him in More Than This, even is he did act like a huge douche at times. But he was funny and real. I'm really glad we got to see him and how his mind worked in More Than Her.

More Than This kinda leaves you hanging and wondering who in the world has Logan fallen in love with?! We all have an idea...but is it really who you think it is? That's all I am going to say on the subject matter!

I felt every single emotion in this book. Everything I tell you! It made me adore Logan. His character is funny, sexy, and downright charming. How could you not love him??

I think what I really loved were all the scenes with Cam and Lucy. Seriously. Those two had me grinning like a fool. They're entertaining as hell and just an all around sexy couple.

I look forward to their book!!
Anyways...

Back to Logan and this mysterious girl. They were a cute couple. And the ending...well yeah...that ending. Um it left me feeling some what tortured but I think this is what Jay likes to do. You know...torture us until we can finally get our grubby hands on her next book! Hah.

Overall, this was a four star read for me. I can't wait for more from the author! She's simply a genius.

More Than Her Spotify Playlist Excerpt He gripped my ass tighter. I let out a sound I had no idea I was capable of. I was so fucking turned on. His movements on me were making me so wet I could feel it soaking my panties. His mouth moved from my neck to my ear, "You gotta quit making those sounds, baby." He kissed the spot behind it. "I'm starting to lost it." Then he took my mouth in his, moving into me harder, pinning me to the wall. My leg on the floor moved to wrap around him. I needed him closer to me; I needed more of him. He started to build a rhythm again. I felt that slow burn building low in my stomach. I didn't know how the fuck he was doing it. Or what the fuck he was even doing. But I didn't want it to stop. Ever. "Oh my God, Logan." I was panting; my head threw back against the wall. He was on my neck. Sucking. Hard. He was going to leave a mark. I wanted him to. "Matthews! What the fuck are you doing?" A deep voice yelled. I screamed, dropped my legs, ducked, and hid behind him. Oh. My. God. Reality set in. What the fuck were we doing? "Fuck." he spat. His hand went down his pants to adjust himself before turning around. "What the fuck do you think this is, Matthews?" "Sorry, Coach" Oh. My. God. Kill me now. "Go home!" I was too embarrassed to look past Logan to see his coaches reaction. "Yes Sir." Logan sounded like he was about to laugh. What the hell? "I'll cover for you." His coach sounded different now, like he was trying to contain his own laughter. "Fuck, I wish I was in college again," he said, before I heard his footsteps walking away. I don't know what emotion was on my face when Logan turned to me, but he laughed. Fucking laughed. "This shit's not funny!" I whispered loudly. " I almost let you have me. " I motioned with my finger at our surroundings. "Right here!" He didn't respond. Just looked me up and down and licked his lips. His eyes settled on my face, as he brought his hand to cup my cheek. And then his face was so close to mine; I could feel his breath on my lips. He rubbed his nose against mine. "Wait here," he said, his voice low, laced with desire. "We're not even close to being done. I'm going to take you home and I'm going to fucking finish what I started. And when I'm done with you, you won't even remember what happened just now. All you'll remember is how I make you feel when you're screaming my name."

Blog Tour Review & Giveaway~ The Promise by Apryl Baker

The Promise (Coven #1)
Release Date: 08/25/13

Summary from Goodreads:
Armed with kick-ass shoes, can CJ stop a maniacal coven leader, save the town, and still get Mr. Melt In Your Mouth Gorgeous while surviving the darkness coming for her?

The smoke from the fire burned her eyes, its heat caressed her skin and the taste of fear choked her. She was going to burn just as her ancestor did all those centuries ago in New Salem Village. How could she have been so wrong about everything?

Cassie Jayne Bishop grew up the only non-believer in town of Coven. When a stranger comes to the sleepy town of New Salem, everything she thought was true unraveled around her. Ethan made her question everything, even her sister’s death. Clues start to pile up and Cassie is determined to find out if the Coven was the real reason her sister died.

What she uncovers terrifies her to the very depths of her soul....

REVIEW:
The Promise was a magical story full of twists at every turn and a fiery red head with a temper. Something very fishy is going on around New Salem Village and it's up to Cassie to figure out what that is. She can't help but think it had everything to do with why her sister died.

The beginning of the story was slow for me. Cassie wasn't my favorite character; I felt she was conceited yet at the same time insecure. I couldn't tell which. One minute she would be talking about how she could have any boy she wanted then the next minute she would be worried that the boy she liked would be more into her best friend instead. He took her best friend home one day and she proceeded to get mad at him for it? Yeah that was immature.

Cassie definitely grew on me. In her town, they believe in witchcraft, but she doesn't. She had made a promise to her sister not to join in on the coven in town. So ever since then, Cassie has remained loyal.

That is until Ethan shows up. I liked him. He was infuriating at times but in the end he was just doing what he was supposed to.

I love how the story intertwined The Salem Witch Trials in it. It was intriguing and mad end want to brush up on our history. Very interesting stuff.

All in all I give this story 3.5 stars. I liked it but I didn't love it. I do look forward to the next one because I feel like it was a great storyline. And the characters are growing on me!

Very romantic and thrilling!

So who am I? Well, I'm the crazy girl with an imagination that never shuts up. I LOVE scary movies. My friends laugh at me when I scare myself watching them and tell me to stop watching them, but who doesn't love to get scared? I grew up in a small town nestled in the southern mountains of West Virginia where I spent days roaming around in the woods, climbing trees, and causing general mayhem. Nights I would stay up reading Nancy Drew by flashlight under the covers until my parents yelled at me to go to sleep.

Review: Beautifully Awake by Riley Mackenzie

SYNOPSIS:
Diagnosis: Sleep-running

Treatment: Truth

Prognosis: Beautifully Awake

Lili Porter hates the rain. Bad things happen in the rain. As a small town social worker dedicated to protecting children, she is forced to start over to escape her rural disaster. Determined to follow her father’s advice—head up and chin high—Lili finds herself in a new city, taking on a new system, this time healthcare. In doing so, she gets something she never expected, an intimate behind-the-scenes look at life in the hospital.

Lili learns that a surgeon’s hands have the power to heal more than physical wounds. And a prescription for truth can cure three years of sleep running and leave you beautifully awake.

REVIEW:

Lili is a case manger (social worker) for a hospital and is a bit mysterious. At least her story that you won't know about until later in in the book.  Chase is the top brain surgeon in the country and he's the head of the surgeons of the hospital Lili works at. *Sorry not good in medical terms! So I hope that kinda makes sense...? Anyways, he is also coming from a tortured past.

The story started off very strong, with an independent and sassy lead character. And then the broody and moody doctor. Dr.Chase Colton is an alpha male times ten, that guy is seriously intimidating. Along with our leads were the funny and charming secondary characters. Sierra was the loud mouth and crude best friend, I liked her a lot because, well she's an adorable pregnant woman! What's not to like?

Guy and his sexy dimples; is the guy who makes every girl feel beautiful. His character was such a joy to read. Then there is Asher. Gah, I love that name! His name is cool and he's even better. I look forward to reading his book next.

The medical field is not one I'm familiar with but I thought it was cool to see what it's like "behind" the scenes. I could never work in that field seeing as I'd probably faint from the first sign of blood. No joke.

I'm not a fan of insta-love. I used to be when I was younger but as I've gotten older, I like romances to be a little more drawn out. Insta-lust is more understandable. I feel like the couple had both. The word "baby" was overused as well. I love that endearment in books but when it's overused, it loses it's spark.

This is where the insta-love comes in. I feel like the hero changed from the moody man to a man in love. Which is fine but I still would have liked to see more build up. It's just a personal taste, nothing against the authors.

Beautifully Awake is a bit wee long in my opinion. Some parts dragged on while others really picked up. I was entertained throughout the novel. The epilogue is what had me on the edge of my seat. I sat there biting my nails and read my little heart out!

Overall, I liked Beautifully Awake. It's a beautiful story about two tortured and lonely people looking for love. (I'm not completely heartless when it comes to love!) if you haven't already pick this up. You'll pretty much fall in love with Dr.Colton;)

Synopsis:

The last thing Holly Harris expected was to wind up nineteen, knocked-up, and all alone. When Coop left to pursue his dreams of becoming a rock god, he left a tiny piece of him behind.

Holly wishes he hadn’t.

Jackson wishes he hadn’t.

Jackson Rowe tried filling the void his family left by drinking, screwing around, and leaving a string of heartbroken women in his wake. Moving back to Sugartown should have been easy, but he hadn’t counted on the fact his sometimes attraction to Holly would still be alive and kicking—and he sure as hell hadn’t counted on her being pregnant with another man’s baby.

They drive one another crazy, and yet they can’t stay away.

When old flames resurface, and even older wounds are torn open, can two people so similar make it work? Or will their stubbornness only drive them further apart?

*Content Warning. Intended for a mature 18+ audience. Contains angst, a crap-tonne of profanity, short-tempered Australian wildlife, and some very pregnant sex.

Excerpt:

Holly

I glance over at Jackson. He’s munching out on Smith’s chips and singing along to some crappy music on the radio, and he’s completely oblivious to the fact that he’s so drop-freaking-dead gorgeous when he’s letting go. Not that he’s ever really been uptight about anything; more that when he’s not “on”, when he’s not trying to get into someone’s pants, or lead them to make stupid decisions because he’s so very clever with his hands and mouth, he’s just kind of … perfect.

Then, of course, he goes and opens his fat mouth.

“You lovin’ on old Jack there, sweetheart?” he asks, glancing back and forth between me and the road.

I smile snidely. “No, you just have chips on your face.”

He runs his hand across his mouth and over the stubble on his chin, brushing away crumbs that aren’t there. I love it when he forgets to shave, and the biting sensation of his facial hair against my soft lips as he’s going down on me. I could come just thinking about it. I squeeze my legs together until the seam of my shorts grazes my clit. Then I close my eyes and slowly shift my legs this way and that, enough to feel the heat in my belly unfurling.

“Holy shit, Hols, you okay?”

My eyes snap open, my heart races and heat floods my cheeks. I glare at him. “Yeah, just tired is all.”

“Nice try, sweetheart. I know your tired face and that’s not it. That’s your ‘I need to be fucked’ face. You want me to pull the car over?”

“No!” I say, a little too quickly, “Just keep driving.”

“All right, but I gotta warn you, darlin’, you keep writhing that way, and I’m gonna need to pull the car over and knock one out myself.” He shrugs. “Or fuck you senseless.”

Meet Carmen:

Excerpt:

Following after her, I find her bent over in front of the refrigerator holding the door open and staring at the contents inside. The way her ass is sticking out unleashes something inside me, and I go semi-hard just from watching her. I instantly feel the need to show her that I’m not some weak, damaged man. I walk up behind her and grab her by the waist, turning her around. Kicking the door shut behind me, I push her to the island, and if I thought I could get away with it, I’d be pressing myself up against so she could feel what she’s doing to me. She’s staring up at me with confusion in her big, brown eyes, and I wonder what the hell I’m doing.

“Hop up,” I tell her, and she complies immediately, surprising me by not fighting it.

I place my hands on her knees, spreading them and stepping closer to her so my hips are between her legs. As best as I can, I take a hold each one and wrap them around my waist, and she involuntarily tightens them around my middle, although her ass is still firmly planted on the counter. This isn’t how I imagined her legs wrapped around me for the first time, but I can’t deny that I don’t love the feel of her gripping my waist tightly.

“Arms around my neck, Charlie.” The confused expression on her face deepens, but she does as she’s told.

“What are you doing, Knox?” she asks, looking up at me, her face only inches from mine.

Swallowing hard, I ignore her question and bring my forehead to hers. “Just do this for me, okay? Don’t fight me on it. Just this once. I need to do this.”

She nods, and I’m not sure she knows what to expect, confirming it when I pull her off the counter. Gasping, she starts to struggle, and I have to brace myself against the counter to keep from falling. Jesus, this woman is so damn defiant, and it can be both sexy as hell and annoyingly irritating.

“Knox, what the hell?! Put me down!”

Fuck, I know I should probably listen to her, but I’ve gotten to this point and I’m not stopping until I can prove to myself that I haven’t completely lost all of my strength. She’s not exactly heavy, but her struggling is making it difficult to keep my one good arm around her as I make my way down the hallway, heading into the guest bedroom. Somewhere along the way she stops struggling, apparently having given up and figuring that it’s just easier to let me do this.

I’m slightly out of breath by the time I get to her bed, and I’m more than happy to release her from my arms. Relief washes over me when she plops on the bed, bouncing once. Whether the relief is from having been able to do it or from having freed myself of her weight. Either way, I’m fucking ecstatic, and even though I’m breathing heavy, it was a small victory for me and my bruised ego.

I begin backing away from her because I know the verbal assault is coming, and I don’t blame her, but I don’t regret it.

About Tessa:

I'm a twenty six year old book junkie who is also obsessed with sports. Bengals, Buckeyes, Reds are my teams! I work for the government during the day, hang out with Air National Guard on the weekends, and am married to a guy 15 inches taller than me. We're quite the pair! We currently live right outside of Dayton, OH with our two cats.

I've been reading since I was a kid. My mom was a librarian, so it was a given. Heck, she even made sure we watched Wishbone instead of the Smurfs. In 2011 when I graduated from college, my mom bought me a Nook, and then in the summer of 2012 I found this amazing site called Goodreads. I was introduced to so many amazing indie/self-published authors. After reading almost 400 books that year, my husband gave me the push to finally sit down and write my own. It was a rocky start, but over time the words started flowing and I couldn't get Jace and Lexi out of my head.

If I’m not writing or looking through tons of photos of hot men, all in the name of research, then you can probably find me curled up with my Kindle, ignoring the rest of the world. I love my sports almost as much as I love my books. My other obsessions include red wine, hot men, country music, and all things Grace Potter.

Blog Tour Review&Giveaway: Damselfly by Jennie Bates Bozic

Damselfly (Damselfly #1)
Release Date: 11/11/13

Summary from Goodreads:
In 2065, the Lilliput Project created Lina - the first six-inch-tall winged girl - as the solution to a worldwide energy and food crisis. Isolated in a compound amidst the forests of Denmark, Lina has grown up aware of only one purpose: learn how to survive in a world filled with hawks, bumblebees, and loneliness. However, on the eve of her sixteenth birthday, she discovers that she’s not the only teenager her size. Six 'Toms' were created shortly after Lina, and now her creators need to prove to the world that tiny people are the next logical step in human evolution. In other words, they need to prove that reproduction is possible.

Um. No thanks. Lina's already fallen in love with a boy she met online named Jack. Only he has no idea that thumbelina1847 could literally fit inside his heart.

When her creators threaten to hurt Jack unless she chooses a husband from among the ‘Toms’, Lina agrees to star in a reality TV series. Once the episodes begin to air, the secret of her size is out. Cut off from any contact with the outside world, Lina assumes Jack is no longer interested. After all, what guy would want to date a girl he can’t even kiss?

Slowly, very slowly, she befriends the six young men who see her as their only ticket to happiness. Perhaps she can make just one guy’s dream of love and companionship come true. But her creators have a few more twists in store for her that she never thought possible.

She’s not the only one playing to the cameras.

Review:
Damselfly was so stinkin' adorable!! Lina is our main character, she's sweet, spunky, and only six inches tall. All her life all she has dreamed about is being free from the cage she lives in. And she literally lives in a cage.

On her sixteenth birthday she is in for a huge surprise. Just when she thought she was going to be set free to be with her true love Jack, fate has another plan for her in store. Instead, Lina is going to be apart of a bachelorette type show with six toms, the male counterpart of her. Six toms to one.

But why would she want any of them when she wants Jack? Oh, right because Jack is a normal size human being who has no idea of her true nature.

Well sit back ladies and gentlemen because Jack and the whole entire world are about to know all about Thumbalina and the Toms!

As I stated above, this was so stinkin cute! I enjoyed it every step of the way. There were some parts that were somewhat slow and the beginning was also kind of slow. But all in all it was an enjoyable read. I look forward to the next book, if there are any!

If you enjoy sweet fairy tale like stories and a quirky female lead, Damselfly is for you!!

3.5 stars

About the Author
I'm a visual effects artist for film and television by day, and at night I don my author cape and pen stories for the YA crowd. I love a good fairy tale, especially if there's a creepy twist, so that's what I write.

I met my husband in the World of Warcraft and we live in Los Angeles with our cat. We spend our time playing video games, reading, hiking, sweeping up cat hair, and cursing the terrible traffic.

I have a bachelor's degree in Religion and Philosophy from Hillsdale College, and some of my past jobs have included: swimming lessons teacher, lifeguard, furniture salesperson, barista, and loan officer. I was especially terrible at the loan officer bit and that's what prompted me to make a major change and go off to Canada to get a diploma in 3D Animation and Visual Effects. After that, I moved to Los Angeles by myself and roomed with two crazy sisters I found on Craigslist. But that's another tale.
