Review: Effortless With You by Lizzy Charles

ebook, 249 pages
Published 2013 by Swoon Romance
edition language
English
Synopsis-
School is out and Lucy is ready for the perfect summer: lazy days at the pool, invitations to the most exclusive parties, and romantic dates with her hot new boyfriend. That is, until she lands in trouble one too many times and her parents issue the ultimate punishment: a summer job. Suddenly, the summer can't end fast enough.

To make matters worse, the job is painting houses with Justin, the most popular, egotistical guy in school. Spending all summer with Justin might be other girls' dreams, but definitely not Lucy's. After all, Justin is cocky, annoying, and a jerk. So what if he's the most beautiful jerk Lucy's ever seen? Or that his grin makes her forget she’s mad at the world? Or that maybe, just maybe, there's more to Justin than Lucy realizes. Only one thing is certain: it won’t be the summer she wanted, but it might be exactly the one she needs.

Review-
I am so in love with this book! Finished it in one sitting. I honestly don't know what promted me to read EWY, but I'm sure glad I did. The cover is pretty but it didn't really catch my attention. I just decided I needed something new to read. Once I started though, I couldn't stop, as I said before I read in one sitting.

The book deals with some bullying and I don't see how anyone could bully Lucy. She's awesome; although at the beginning her attitude irked me. But I understood it the more I read. As a freshman, she makes the varsity basketball team. Lucy is a prodigy, a bad ass even. Which is exactly why she gets subjected to bullying in the first place.

Before long she quits basketball and she's never the again.

Fast forward to a time where *gasp* she has to get a summer job painting houses with none other than hottie, Justin. Boy he is one cocky a*hole. Did I say cocky? No, i totally meant dreamy, loveable, and at times kind if broody. My favorite combination!!

During the summer Lucy forms quick friendships with Justin and some of the guys painting. She learns a lot about herself and what it truly means to grow up. EWY really hit home. Not only does it deal with issues of bullying, it had a heartfelt and realistic look at a mother/daughter relationship. It definitely brought me back to a time of being sixteen and feeling as if the world was against me, especially my mother.

The romance was perfectly done. I adored every single one of these characters. I know I was going to have a very hard time saying goodbye to them. Luckily, there's a second book!! Imagine my joy in finding the story continues.

For those of you in need of a pick me up type story, this is for you. A great summer read that will keep you engaged until the very end.

It you haven't read this book I don't know what your waiting for! Go get it.

Blog Tour Review feat Giveaway- Witch Hunter Olivia by T.A. Kunz

Witch Hunter Olivia
By T.A. Kunz

Blurb:
In the town of Piedmont Pointe, where paranormal is the norm, a girl can easily get herself in over her head with a single wrong move. Unfortunately for Olivia Adams, she’s about to make several.

Starting over is never easy, but it seemed like the only option to Olivia. The decision to turn her back on the Guild of Witch Hunters, the very group she devoted her entire life to, was one of the hardest things she ever did. It meant leaving her family, her friends, and her old identity behind forever. Coming to terms with what caused her to abandon her duties in the first place was even harder.

While trying to lay low and stay off the Guild’s radar, Olivia finds herself thrust back into her old ways after unknowingly interrupting an assassination hit on a powerful witch. What follows is the last thing she ever thought she’d agree to do—protect the very thing she was groomed to hunt.

To complicate things even further, Olivia begins to develop feelings for a tattoo artist who also happens to be half warlock, and no matter how hard she tries to fight it, she can’t resist her inescapable draw to him. Olivia’s forbidden relationship isn’t her only issue though, because once the mystery behind the assassination attempt starts to unravel, she’s forced to choose sides when the loyalties still tied to her past life are tested again.

So much for the idea of a fresh start.

Review-
Olivia, Liv, is an ex Witch Hunter. After witnessing her best friend dying at the hands of them, she decided that being a Hunter was not for her. In doing this, she will then be shunned by everyone in the hunter community, including her whole family.

One night at a sorority rush party, Liv sees her brother, who just so happens to have a hit on witch royalty.

Turns out her brother isn't her brother, but a strange look a like. When she seeks her brother down to tell him the news, he all but turns the other way. He wants nothing to do with Olivia the traitor.

With the help of a super sexy tattoo artist, Heath, she'll find out what's going on and why a Hunter had a hit on a high priestess witch.

Paranormal romance is one of my favorite genres and WHO doesn't disappoint. I loved the world that Kunz has created. It is unique and might I add, quite sexy. Yes, sexy indeed. If paranormal is a genre you love, go ahead and get this wonderful book! It's awesome. Even it you don't like paranormal, I still suggest getting the book. Because like I said, it's awesome! And bad ass. And lots of other things ;)

Excerpt

I turn on my side and watch Heath stroll to the bathroom door. He enters and slides it closed, but it gets stuck with about a half a foot left to go. He fights with it, but it doesn’t budge past that point.

He chuckles. “Damn thing. Been meaning to get it fixed,” he says. “All right, no peeking.”
I smile before turning over to face the other way. I find myself staring into the large mirror attached to his dresser that looks directly into the bathroom. It’s a small bathroom that’s streamlined straight back leading to the shower, so there’s no way he can move out of view from the opening in the door.

Heath inches up his shirt, revealing his tight, firm abs. His pants are resting low on his hips, showcasing the highly toned and defined groin area peeking out over the top of the waistband. Blush starts working its way up my cheeks when I realize I’m watching Heath like some kind of voyeur.

With his shirt off, it’s hard not to admire the tattoos that wrap from the top of his hips all the way up his side and then across his chest before cascading down his arm in a fluid motion. Warmth begins coursing through my body at the thought of my hands tracing the edges of his beautiful artwork. I shake out of it when I notice he’s unbuttoning his pants. He clearly has no issue with his body since he so freely strips off his clothes without hesitation.

I avert my eyes when he begins to slide off his underwear. When I hear the glass shower door slide open, I glance up when my curiosity gets the best of me, and see his highly defined and gorgeous body reflected in the mirror. The deep black tattoos spread across his back as well, and only add to the fact his entire body looks like a piece of art standing there. Once he disappears behind the door, I can relax somewhat, but dangerous thoughts begin to pound at my brain and a yearning develops between my legs.

“This was so not a good idea,” I whisper to myself, trying to keep my feelings at bay, but failing miserably.

The glass shower door is opaque, but I can still see the contours of his body through it. Even his outline is a work of perfection. My heart begins to beat faster in my chest the longer I stare at him. The throbbing between my legs starts to overtake my whole being, and I feel myself compelled toward the open bathroom door. I fight it back and flip onto my back to be face up on the bed so I can’t stare into the bathroom anymore.

Studying the minor cracks in the ceiling to distract myself, I try not to focus on my current obsession. The bed begins to feel like it’s on fire as heat assaults my backside in waves. This must be the exact place Heath sleeps. I can feel his residual energy while resting against his pillow and sheets. The light scent of his cologne clings to the fabric and is now swirling around me after I disturbed the bed by moving about.

I spring up in a sitting position when I can’t take the feeling anymore. The shower’s still running, and I can hear the sound of the water being redirected as it hits against Heath’s body, causing an irregularity in the sound. I’m so worked up right now, I have no idea what to do.

He promised me that love forever.

Forever. Everlasting. Eternal.
There is no measure of time.

 Review-
I knew I would love Cam & Lucy's story the best. I fell in love with them the very moment we met them in the first book! I adored seeing them from a different pov other than from their friends.

I think I cried through out the whole book. I'm not joking, I really did!!

Can't. Stop. Swooning.

The story starts off at the beginning. Back to when Cam and Lucy first meet then it spans over six years time. We get a bunch of lovin', a whole 'lotta angst, heartbreaking scenes, sexy scenes, and of course we catch glimpses of our favorites.

More Than Forever is such a bittersweet story that's filled with so much gut-wrenching pain. I feel like Jay just tore my heart into pieces but slowly put them back together as the book went on. To me, this story has out did them all. I may be biased because I've been shipping this couple since the beginning but you'll understand what I mean once you read the story.

The drama kept me on my toes and wasn't overdone at all. In fact, I kept wanting to throw my iPad at the wall on certain scenes. Both the characters made me want to shake them at times!

If you're already a fan of Jay, and haven't picked this up...I don't know what you're waiting for! If you've never read any of the books, well I HIGHLY suggest you get your butt to moving.

 Excerpt-

I see her wobble on her feet before she slowly tumbles to the ground. Her knees give out first, then the rest of her. It feels like I should've gotten to her earlier, but seconds of panic took place before my mind kicked into gear. And the rest is a blur.

Her friend's standing over us while I rest her head on my lap. "Lucy," I say. And it's the first time I've said her name out loud. It'd been over three weeks since I'd
learned it.

"What happened?" Logan asks her friend.
"I don't know." She's as panicked as I am, if not worse.
"Is she dehydrated?" Logan picks up what looks like an uneaten sandwich. "Is this hers? Has she eaten?" I don't know why it annoys me that Logan is asking all the right questions and all I can do is stare down at her. She's breathing, so I guess that's something.

He drops down on his knees on the other side of her and pours water from his bottle into his hand, and then he runs it across her forehead and into her hairline.

"Is she alright, mate?" Jake asks. He's new and has a weird accent but Logan seems to think he's cool so we keep him around.
Logan does the water thing again, and this time her eyes slowly flutter open.
And I release the breath I was holding. "It's okay," Logan says to her, "you just passed out."
He's in her face now, and I want to punch him for being the first thing she sees when she comes to. I was here first; I was the one watching her when she fell. It should have been me.
"If that's what you want." He raises an eyebrow. "She's cute. In a couple years she'll be hot. Guys will be all over her. I'm just trying to help out."

I think about what he's saying, and he makes a good point. Only he's wrong—she's hot now. "Fine. I claim her.

She's mine."

His smirk is instant. "You can't own someone, you pig.

She isn't property."

I laugh. "Fuck you."

Jake struts over to us. "Ya reckon that new kid Dylan

can hang out with us this arvo? He seems like a top bloke."

Logan's gaze moves to me, confusion clear on his face.

I shrug. He lets out a chuckle before gripping both of

Jake's shoulders and shaking him gently. He looks him right in the eye, speaking slowly and clearly. "I have no idea what the fuck you just said."

The More Series

More Than This, #1

 *Mikayla

In one night my fairytale ended. Or it may have begun. This is my story of friendship and love, heartbreak and desire, and the strength to show weakness.

*Jake*

One night I met a girl. A sad and broken girl, but one more beautiful than any other. She laughed through her sadness, while I loved through her heartbreak.

*This is our story of a maybe ever after.*

He was right. It made no difference whether it was 6 months or 6 years.
I couldn’t undo what had been done. I couldn’t change the future.
I couldn’t even predict it.
It was one night.
One night when everything changed.
It was so much more than just the betrayal.
It was the Tragedy.
The Deaths.
The Murders.
But it was also that feeling.
The feeling of falling.

More Than Her, #2

For every action there is an equal or opposite reaction." For every choice you make there are rewards, or there are consequences. It was my choice to walk away the first time. And my choice to chase her the second. But sometimes you don't get a choice, and all you get are the consequences.” "Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.” Unless that someone is Logan Matthews. Because loving him didn't give me the strength to walk away. It didn't give me the courage to fight for him. And when it was over, all it gave me was a broken heart.

More Than Him, #3

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us." - Marianne Williamson

We live in a world of darkness and shadows,
where monsters hide and aim to ruin.
And they did.
They ruined us and turned our dreams into nightmares.
But now we're back.
And we're fighting.
Not just for us, or for each other, but for our light.
