SHE'S TAKING A WALK ON HIS WILD SIDE

Emma Rush can't remember a time when she didn't have a thing for Ryan Blake. Haven's resident bad boy is just so freakin' hot-with tattoos, a motorcycle, and enough rough-around-the-edges sexiness to melt all her self-control. Now that Emma's over being a "good girl," she needs a little help being naughty . . . and she knows just where to start.

Before Emma's brother enlisted in the military, he made Ryan promise that he would protect her from everything--including himself. When her brother doesn't come home, Ryan needs to turn his screwed-up life around to honor his pledge. But he knows he's still not the right kind of guy for someone as sweet as Emma. Only he can't stop wanting to be with her. Wanting her. Falling in love with a good girl may be the craziest risk this bad boy can take . . .

Excerpt:
Ryan Blake held a bottle ofMaker’s 46 in his right hand,a tumbler in his left. With aflick of his wrist, he tossedthe bottle. It flipped oncebefore landing back in hisgrip, top down, ready to pour.He filled the tumbler, set anapkin on
the bar, and placed it in frontof the brunette on the otherside. “Bourbon, neat.”
“You’re good.” She pickedup the glass and tipped it inhis direction. “Not what I wasexpecting in this little bar inthe middle of nowhere.”
“I try,” he said with the friendly, semi-flirtatious smile he always used onsingle ladies seated at his bar.She wasn’t wrong. The usualclientele at The Drunken Bearhad little use for fancy liquor or bartending tricks, but the trio in front of him weretourists looking for a goodtime, and he’d see that theyhad one.
“You were just about to tellme about this tattoo.” Sheplaced her hand on his biceps,fingering the eagle he’d hadinked there after he flew thiscoop ten years ago.
“That’s right.” He shifted backward so that her handslipped to the countertop. Heencouraged flirting—it led to better tips and made the nightmore interesting—but thischick was getting a bit toofriendly, considering thediamond band on her left ring finger. “This one was for spreading my wings. ThoughtI’d fly far away, and yet, hereI am back in Haven.”
“You’re from here then?”one of the other womenasked, shamelessly ogling thetattoos on his arms whilegiving him an eyeful of cleavage.
“Born and raised. Movedaround a lot, but I can’t seemto shake this place. It’s in myblood.” Once upon a time,he’d been hell bent on gettingas far away from this sleepyNorth Carolina mountaintown as possible. Spent thebetter part of a decadedrifting from place to place,taking with him only what hecould carry on his bike.Funny how things came fullcircle. He picked up an emptypilsner glass another patronhad left behind.
“Ryan?”
He turned at the familiarvoice to find Emma Rushstand- ing there, one hippropped against the bar, andhe damn near dropped theglass. Emma’s trademarkponytail and jog- ging pantswere nowhere in sight.Tonight, her blond haircascaded over her shouldersin shiny waves, her blue eyessparkled at him from behind atasteful—yet sexy—amountof makeup, and her red topwas tucked into a pair ofjeans that fit her like a glove.He swallowed past thesudden dry- ness in his throat. “Hey, Em. What brings you out tonight?” “Girls’ night,”she said with a smile, gesturing to her friendMandy, who stood by thedoor talking on her cellphone. Emma slid onto an empty barstool. “I wasn’texpect-
ing to see you.”
“I’m still here a few nights a week.”His new business
venture—Off-the-GridAdventures, an extremeoutdoor sporting facility he’dopened with his good buddiesEthan Hunter and MarkDalton six months ago—wasfinally bring- ing in enough income that he soon wouldn’tneed to bartend to pay his rent. “What can I get you?”
“Untapped amber ale,please.” She watched whilehe filled a frosted mug.“Thanks.”
“My pleasure.”
She lifted the mug to herlips and took a long drink. “Damn, that’s good,” she saidwith a happy sigh, setting iton the bar.
“Always been more of apilsner guy myself.” He triednot to stare as she licked froth from her upper lip.
“Hi, Ryan.” Mandy stepped up to the bar beside Emma.He leaned back, tearing hisgaze from Emma’s lips.“Hi.”
Emma turned to her friendwith a smile. “Ready to get a table?”
“Yep,”Mandy said.“Have fun, ladies.”
“We will.” With a wave,Emma walked off after herfriend, and damn, those jeanscupped her ass likeperfection. No doubt about it,Emma looked hot tonight.And his thoughts were wayout of line. He’d promisedDerek he’d look out for his little sister, not drool all overher.
“Your girlfriend?” thebrunette at the bar asked, eyebrows raised as she sipped her bourbon.
Ryan cleared his throat anddragged his eyes away fromEmma. “Just a friend.”
“Mm-hmm.” The brunettegave him a look that said shedidn’t believe him.
He turned to check on hispatrons at the other end of the bar, but his attention wasonce again diverted by Emma— or rather, the preppy-looking businessman she wastalking to now. Ryan couldn’tmake out their conversation,but the guy wore anirritatingly smug smile, andEmma didn’t look at allhappy to have bumped into him.
Ryan moved down the bar,chatting and pouring drinksas he went, all the whilekeeping an eye on Emma.She was deep in conversationwith the businessman,although the guy seemed tobe doing most of the talking.Emma smiled and nodded.She glanced up and metRyan’s gaze, rolling her eyesat him with a smile while hercompanion kept on talk- ing.
Next thing Ryan knew, theguy had slung an arm aroundher shoulders, gesturingwildly with his free handwhile Emma subtly edged away from him.
Ryan was around the barand across the room beforehe’d even realized what hewas doing. “Everything okayover here?”
Emma shrugged out fromunder the guy’s arm, but hersmile wasn’t nearly as warmor genuine as the one she’dgiven Ryan a few moments ago. “Yep.”
“We’re fine,” ObnoxiousDude answered. “Who areyou?”
“Ryan Blake. And you are?” “TristanFarrell.”
“Tristan and I are . . . old friends,”Emma said.
By old friends, Ryanassumed she meant formerflames. And since she clearlywasn’t enjoying his company,it was time for Tristan toleave. Ryan crossed his armsover his chest and stared himdown, waiting for the loser toget the message. It didn’t takelong.
Tristan backed up, his eyesdarting toward the front door.“Well, it was great seeing you, Emma. Take care.”
“You, too.” She watched asTristan left the bar thenturned to Ryan. “Forgot howmuch I dislike that guy.”
“He hassling you?”
Her eyes rounded. “No! Just talkingmy ear off, really.
Sorry to distract you from your duties at the bar.”
“No problem.” Keeping an eye on his patrons was part ofthe job, although he wasprobably feeling moreprotective of Emma right nowthan the situation called for.
“Right, well . . . looks likemy table is ready.” She wavedover her shoulder as she walked away.
Ryan headed back behind the bar, turning his attention to the trio of tourists and theirmostly empty cocktails. “Anyof you ladies ready for a fresh drink?”
As it turned out, they all were. While he mixed their cock- tails, he allowed hisgaze to roam over to Emma’stable. She was deep inconversation with her friendsGabby, Carly, and Mandy, allof whom he knew, none ofwhom made his gut tightenthe way it did every time helooked at Emma tonight.

He had no idea where thishad come from, but he had toget over it, pronto. Emmawasn’t interested in a playerlike him, and even if shewere, she was off limits. He’dmade a promise to her brotherwhen Derek went off to war,and Ryan had no intention of breaking it.

Blog Tour Review - THE WRIGHT BROTHER by K.A. Linde

twbbanner

Blurb:
I'd dated his brother. He didn’t remember and I wish I could forget. I may have sworn off the Wright family a long time ago. But when I returned home, Jensen Wright crashed into my life with the confidence of a billionaire CEO and the sex appeal of a god. Even I couldn’t resist our charged chemistry, or the way he fit into my life like a missing puzzle piece. Too bad he’d forgotten the one thing that could destroy us. Because Jensen Wright doesn’t share. Not with anyone. And if his brother finds out, this could all go down in flames. When it all was said and done, was he the Wright brother?

Review:
I loved this. Obviously. I've realized that every K.A. Linde book is one that I know will start my heart pumping, get my heart racing, and ultimately leave me breathless. It's just the way it is. Her books have the perfect blend of sexy, romance, and the delicious angst that pulls it all together. Going into The Wright Brother, well, I didn't stand a chance.

Emery is the colossal good girl who had the perfect boyfriend in high school, and then he broke up with her on graduation, leaving her devastated. Ten years later, she's in college and dating a wonderful man. One that also likes to be wonderful to more than just Emery, if you know what I mean. This sets her back in her hometown, the one she swore she'd never go back to, Lubbock, Texas. She's in store for a whole lot of yummy goodness when she arrives.

Her ex boyfriend, Landon - the same one that broke her heart all those years ago - is in town for his youngest sister's wedding. And even though Em didn't have an inkling of going to said wedding, she gets roped into it by her best friend. But nothing happens the way you might think it will. Because not only does Landon not even recognize her, his oldest brother, Jensen, takes one look at Emery and wants to do the boom, boom boogie with her.

Funny story but HE doesn't recognize Emery either! I don't blame him though, Jensen is a little older and she was Landon's high school girlfriend. You can imagine what happens when he finally realizes who she is...

But the rest of the story is filled with so much of that yummy goodness. Jensen is amazing and surprisingly sweet. I don't know why but I thought he'd be a huge asshole, and he was to an extent. I have to tell you though, I'm a huge Landon fan. His story is going to be interesting because he has a crazy wife. She's literally crazy.

Overall, I think this is another hit for Ms. Linde. If you're a fan of hers, don't miss out on this brand new installment. The characters are great, the story line is perfect, and at the end of the day, I was able to lose myself in a book. Hopefully you can too!

AIR AWAKENS, BOOK ONE

A library apprentice, a sorcerer prince, and an unbreakable magic bond...

The Solaris Empire is one conquest away from uniting the continent, and the rare elemental magic sleeping in seventeen-year-old library apprentice Vhalla Yarl could shift the tides of war.

Vhalla has always been taught to fear the Tower of Sorcerers, a mysterious magic society, and has been happy in her quiet world of books. But after she unknowingly saves the life of one of the most powerful sorcerers of them all--the Crown Prince Aldrik--she finds herself enticed into his world. Now she must decide her future: Embrace her sorcery and leave the life she's known, or eradicate her magic and remain as she's always been. And with powerful forces lurking in the shadows, Vhalla's indecision could cost her more than she ever imagined.

FIRE FALLING, BOOK TWO

Soldier... Sorcerer... Savior... Who is Vhalla Yarl?

Vhalla Yarl marches to war as property of the Solaris Empire. Or will she truly become the Empire's monster?

The stakes have never been higher as the Emperor maintains his iron grip on her fate, holding everything Vhalla still has left to lose in the balance.

WATER'S WRATH, BOOK FOUR

Librarian turned sorcerer. Sorcerer turned hero. Hero turned puppet.

The Solaris Empire found victory in the North and, at the cost of her heart and her innocence, Vhalla Yarl has earned her freedom. But the true fight is only beginning as the secret forces that have been lurking in the shadows, tugging at the strings of Vhalla's fate, finally come to light. Nowhere is safe, and Vhalla must tread carefully or else she'll fall into the waiting arms of her greatest foe. Or former lover.

CRYSTAL CROWNED, BOOK FIVE

Long live Solaris.

One bloodthirsty ruler has been overthrown by another, casting the shadow of death over the Solaris Empire. Vhalla Yarl stands upon the stage of fate, prepared to do battle one final time. Fragile alliances will be tested and new bonds will be formed as the world is reshaped. She fights as the champion of peace, but when the night is darkest will she be able to pay the price of a new dawn?

Review:
“You were not born to be their leader, you were chosen. And that has far greater weight.”

There are books you like. Books that you may think are okay. Books you absolutely loathe. And then there are books that you more than love. Ones that make you so breathless you don't ever care to have that sweet air back. You want to know why? Because this is what we as readers live for! The type of books that inspire us that anything is possible if you just believe in yourself.

Valla is just a regular girl apprenticing to be a librarian. She likes her quiet but simple life. What starts the beginning of ultimately what will become her end, Vhalla discovers that she's more than ordinary girl. She meets the enigmatic crown prince, Aldrik. There in starts the beautiful foundation of war, betrayal, love, death, and finding oneself in a world pushing for you to hide.

"Together, they were unstoppable. Bound, Joined, madly in love, there were no longer any boundaries that could limit them. They were a single force of nature."

When I tell you should read this series, I mean it! It may be YA fantasy but it has everything. The books are going up there with some of my other favorite series and I'm happy to say that author has found herself a fan for life. That's how serious I am! The characters are so very dear to me. I cried when they cried. I felt helpless when they did. I loved as they did.

I honestly don't know how I can possibly read another book anytime soon  because the writing, the plot, the characters; everything was beyond perfect. In one book, I practically highlighted the entirety of it. Every word has meaning and I know I took everything to heart. Don't waste your time trying to find the next "big" book. This is the next big book and I more than recommend!

"His eyes caught hers, and time slowed. Two obsidian orbs—ablaze—saw straight into her soul. She inhaled and saw his breath heave at the same time. His hand extended into the air, her feet picked up and she reached for him. Vhalla’s fingers curled about his, and Aldrik pulled her to him."

Review: POISON'S KISS by Breeana Shields

Publisher: Random House Books for Young Readers
Published: January 10, 2017
Genre: Young Adult - Fantasy
Source: Print ARC
Rating: 2.5
Blurb:
A teenage assassin kills with a single kiss until she is ordered to kill the one boy she loves. This commercial YA fantasy is romantic and addictive like-- a poison kiss-- and will thrill fans of Sarah J. Maas and Victoria Aveyard.

Marinda has kissed dozens of boys. They all die afterward. It's a miserable life, but being a visha kanya, a poison maiden, is what she was created to do. Marinda serves the Raja by dispatching his enemies with only her lips as a weapon.

Until now, the men she was ordered to kiss have been strangers, enemies of the kingdom. Then she receives orders to kiss Deven, a boy she knows too well to be convinced he needs to die. She begins to question who she s really working for. And that is a thread that, once pulled, will unravel more than she can afford to lose.

This rich, surprising, and accessible debut is based in Indian folklore and delivers a story that will keep readers on the edge of their seats.

Review:
Marinda can kill a boy with just the touch of her lips. She's what you call a poison maiden; an assassin. And there's nothing in the world she hates more than the job of killing boys she's told to kill. Not knowing what they did to deserve such a punishment. She doesn't ask questions and does what she's supposed to instead. Even if it makes her feel guilty. Marinda is doing this for her younger brother, Mani, who is sickly. This is how she serves the Raja and this is her foreseeable future.

That is until she meets Deven - a boy whose as mysterious as his counterpart, Miranda. Everything chances the moment she's ordered to kiss Deven, marking him to doom. But Marinda knows him and he can't possibly be bad enough to kill with a kiss. Marinda then starts questioning everything. And that's where everything starts to get good.

Or so I thought. While the book has a great premise, it was too slow for my liking. It was slow throughout the book and in the end and it wasn't until the very end where it actually piqued my interest. Even though it has a low rating, I still want to read the second book so that way I can see what happens. If it weren't for that ending, I don't know if I would have been able to continue with the next book.

Now I know i gave the book a low star rating but that doesn't mean I absolutely hated the book. I still would like to continue and see where the author goes with everything.
