Thirteen Rules for Hiding From a Telepathic Killer

RUN TO YOU is a super-romantic thriller about a teenage girl and her psychically gifted family on the run from a telepathic killer hired by the government. To evade the killer, Tessa and her parents, brother, and sister must follow these rules:

1.
Be ready to flee at a moment’s notice. Keep a bag packed in your getaway car.

2.
Store anything you want to keep in the trunk of your getaway car. If something doesn’t fit, too bad: it will be destroyed along with everything else—clothes, text books, even your bedsheets—when you flee to your next hideout.

3.
Use your disposable cell phones only to contact each other: Never give your number to anyone else. Destroy the phones when you flee to your next location.

4.
Do not use credit cards or the internet: They are too easy to track.

5.
Whenyou flee from a location, destroy your getaway car. Buy a new, nondescript getaway car with cash.

6.
On the road between locations, stay only in motels that accept cash.

7.
When you find a new town to hide in, find a pre-furnished rental house. Pay the security deposit and first-and-last month’s rent with, you guessed it: cash.

8.
Use a new alias at each location. Never tell anyone your real name.

9.
Wave at your new neighbors and smile at your new classmates so you don’t arouse suspicion, but don’t be toofriendly. Your goal is to survive, not to make friends.

10.
Memorize your cover story: you moved here from Oklahoma (you’ve never been to Oklahoma).

11.
Wear clothes that are plain and forgettable: no brand names or logos.

12.
At school learn half Bs and half Cs: grades that are decent, but not so bad or so good that they will attract attention.

13. And whatever you do: never, ever, ever fall in love.

Review: Love, Chocolate, and Beer by Violet Duke

Synopsis:
Romance has met its most unlikely match-up…

Luke Bradford is a chocolatier on a mission. After moving his chocolate shop, and newly single life, to the quirky town of Cactus Creek, Luke wants nothing more than to devote all his energy into making his business a success—by taking the romance market by storm. But his grand plans get thrown for a loop when he locks horns with the feisty beer-brewing beauty next door who calls his ‘romantic idealism’ a load of fairytale bull. Soon, driving the woman sparking nuts becomes another wickedly fun priority he simply can’t get enough of.

In his defense, she’s addictively easy to incite…and plain impossible to resist.

Beloved local brewmaster Dani Dobson is beyond riled up. It’s bad enough the new shop owner in town comes locked and loaded with both a distractingly rugged charm and sexy flashing dimples, but the whole only-in-the-movies variety of romance he’s selling—the kind her world has been crushed by before—is really doing a number on her allergy to unrealistic clichés. What’s worse, he’s created an annoyingly clever ad campaign that dubs ‘beer joints’ like hers as the “cave where romance goes to hibernate.” The nerve of that man.

Combustible chemistry or not, damn it, this means war. The stakes…very likely, her heart.

Review:
Violet Duke has outdone herself...again!

I LOVE her Nice Girl to Love series and the spin off as well. There is something pure and beautiful with her writing, it's phenomenal. She doesn't disappoint with a whole new cast of ever loving and fun characters.

In Love, Chocolate, and Beer, we follow Dani Dobson and Luke Bradford. Luke is a sexy man who makes chocolate and just moved in next door to the brewmaster, Dani. Do you see where this is going? Lol

If you read the novella, A Little Cobustible Chemistry, you would have seen the sweetest way the two met. It had a lot of sexy chemistry indeed.

Luke is a romantic, while Dani is not! She doesn't believe in fairy tales or that love can last. But it if it's up to Luke, he won't have her thinking that way. He is ready to win in more ways than one. Not only does he want her heart, he wants to prove that beer joints are a thing of the past...it's all about the romance!

"Get off your high horse; not every girl wants the white picket fence. I don't believe in fairytale romance and I don't do relationships."

The supporting cast was simply amazing. You have Rylan the man who is in a band and is totally digging Quinn. Quinn is Luke's best friend and business partner. I really like her!! Then you have Xoey. Xoey, Xoey, Xoey...I SOOOO want her book. She is the crazy best friend of Dani and all her scenes were hilarious! I so want a friend just like her.

The banter between Dani and Luke sent thrills up my spine. I loved watching drama unfold because it kept me entertained.

"Outside the context of this little wager, I fully intend for you and I to take turns being on top, sweetheart."

They talk a lot like that throughout the book! This is an absolutely fun book about love and friendships. I was laughing and crying throughout the whole book.

If you haven't yet gotten your copy, go get it now:)

Excerpt
“Ten minutes and you’re on.” Pete knocked on Rook’s door.
Rook shook his head at the cue from his band manager. Pete had by far the worst timing Rook had ever seen, always interrupting his important meetings. If Rook knew the slut between his legs at the current moment was going to give the worst blow job he had ever experienced, he would have never asked her to join him in his dressing room. If it wasn’t for her massively fake tits bobbing up and down, he would have a serious case of limp dick.
She looked up at him while her mouth was wrapped around his barely impressive erection and smiled. She was so pleased with herself. Little did she know a confused lesbian could probably give better head than her.
If he wasn’t so high at the current moment, he might have kicked her out by now but he was too chilled out to care that much. So instead, he let her continue to suck him while he stared at her tits.
He grabbed the bottle of Jack Daniels that was sitting next to him, took a long swig and then winked at…well, he didn’t know her name but that didn’t matter. He would sign whatever she wanted when she finally finished him off and then send her on her way. After the piss poor suction job she was doing, he would bet two dicks and a nut sack that he would never see her sloppy tits again.
What was she doing down there? It felt like she was just drooling all over him rather than licking and sucking. She was moving her head a lot but was not stimulating him enough. Was he really that high that he had absolutely no feeling in his cock?
Her hand slid from his balls to his shaft as she started to pump him, up and down. She was barely gripping him, it was as if she was trying to lightly clean a cucumber rather than milk him for all he was worth.
“Five minutes Rook…”
Fuck.
He needed to get this over with and get himself clean. He took another swig from his beloved friend Jack and then swatted her hand away from his dick. Utter shock crossed her face but he didn’t care. He wrapped his hand around his erection and started doing the dirty work himself.
She leaned in and gave him a wicked smile. “You don’t want me to do that for you?”
Fuck no! But he didn’t say that.
“I want you to stand in front of me and play with your tits.”
She smiled at him, stood up and started fondling herself. She threw her head back and moaned when she pinched her nipples. Even though Rook knew she was putting on a show for him, he still got a bit of a kick out of her performance and felt himself start to grow larger in his hand. Finally!
“That’s perfect. Keep touching yourself.”
She squeezed her tits together and pouted at him. “But I want to touch you, not myself.”
“You had your chance, now let me suck on one of your tits. Bring them to my mouth.”
She stumbled for a second and said, “Did you not like me touching you?”
Fuck, he needed to get this over with.
“You were awesome, the best ever. My dick is so hard for you.” He lied in a monotone voice, not trying to hide his annoyance. “But I like to watch more.”
That made her smile and before he knew it, one of her massively large breasts was stuck in his mouth. That was exactly what the erection Gods called for. He fondled the other one with his spare hand and that was all he needed. He threw his head back and groaned as he released himself all over the girl with the weak suck.
He pumped himself dry and when he finally stopped throbbing, he opened his eyes and saw the girl start to take off the rest of her clothes.
“Uh, what are you doing?” He asked.
“It’s my turn.”
Rook stuffed his dick back in his pants and zipped them up, causing her to pout even more. God, he hated pouters. Why women thought it was attractive to pout, he would never know. All it did was irritate the shit out of him and make him want to act out in a violent rage.
What did the slut really expect anyway? For him to go down on her? Yea, fat chance in hell.
Rook looked around with his hands in his pocket. “Yea, this is awkward. You need to leave.”
“Excuse me?”
“You heard me. Time to go sweetheart. I have a show, rain check though.” He didn’t mean it but if it meant she would leave then he would say whatever it took.
He picked up her clothes for her and shoved them in her direction. She quickly threw them on as he opened the door to his dressing room. Pete was just about to knock on his door when Rook escorted the busty blonde out his door. Pete gave Rook a disapproving look but Rook just shrugged his shoulders and started walking toward the stage.
“Rook…”
Shit.
Rook turned around and looked at his band manager who didn’t look all too happy. Pete sniffed Rook and said, “Have you been drinking before the show again?” Pete then looked into Rook’s eyes. “Fuck, are you high?”
Rook just shrugged his shoulders once again, not wanting to answer his pest of a band manager.
“Damn it, Rook. I told you we can’t send you out there drunk and high. How many times are we going to go through this?”
Rook held up his hand. “I’m going to stop you right there before that little vein in your head pops.” Rook touched the ever beating vein and cringed at the squishy feeling that came from it. “Everyone knows I’m phenomenal on stage whether I’m drunk, high or both. So get off my back and show me where I need to be.”

Synopsis:

I met Sarah Kate Erickson when I was 21 years old. I was lucky enough to keep her for seven years before a tragic accident stole her from me. She didn’t die, but sometimes I think it would have been easier if she had.

I lived in a haze for those four years after the accident. Catering to her every need, even though she hated the very sight of my face. I tried to hold on to her and the future that we were supposed to build together. But you can’t hold on to someone that doesn’t exist anymore.

It wasn’t until I met Jesse Addison, a barista at the local coffee shop, that I realized I didn’t just lose Sarah that tragic night, I lost myself as well. Jesse taught me how to let go of the past and learn to love again. But what happens when your past haunts your present and the woman you used to love refuses to accept the woman you can’t live without?

Excerpt:

"Shall we make a little bet?" I ask, twirling my thumbs like an evil madman.

"Aren't you sick of losing yet?" She laughs so hard at her own joke, she almost rolls out of the chair. Her reaction alone is enough to make me laugh right along with her.

This girl is drunk...and beautiful. And drunk. And sexy as hell. And drunk. And so very fuckable. Did I mention drunk? She isn't in the danger zone, where she is going to be hating her very existence tomorrow. She's in that loose-lipped-say-things-that-will-make-you-cringe-the-next-day stage. I would be lying if I said I wasn't enjoying the hell out of seeing her in this state.

Jesse always seems to have a filter when she talks to me. It's as if, she analyzes every word in her mind twelve times before actually spitting out a sentence. Since she started drinking, she hasn't stopped talking. She has officially made the leap from best friend’s little sister, to woman I want to fuck. Jesus, what the hell am I saying? Am I drunk too?

"So, is that a yes or no to the bet?" I smile, glancing down and catch a glimpse of her peaked chilled nipples. "You cold, Jess?" I ask, nodding down at her nipples noticeably showing thorough her skimpy excuse for a dress.

I watch her eyes travel down her own body and her cheeks immediately redden. Oh shit! I really am drunk! Why the fuck would I say that to her? Better yet, when the hell did I lose my filter tonight? Oh God, what else have I said to her without thinking? I frantically try to think of a way to moonwalk out of this conversation. She's uncomfortable, and I'm mortified. We both know it too. It's written all over our faces, but in our drunken states, neither one of us can think of anything to say.

Review:

Changing Course is an emotional roller coaster that’s sure to leave you reeling.

Detective Brett Sharp met the love of his life, Sarah Erickson, during a night out at the bar. They spent seven wonderful years together before a tragic accident pulled the rug out from under his feet.

Now, four years later, Brett meets someone who makes him feel alive.

Jesse is a barista at the coffee shop that Brett and his best friend, Caleb, often frequent. She’s sweet, naïve, and down to earth. She makes him feel things that he’s long forgotten. Struggling with his desire to move on and the obligation that he feels he has to his past … Brett is torn. Will he be able to let go of his past in order to secure his future? Or will everything come crashing down around him for a second time?

WOW! Aly did a fantastic job in bringing the struggles that a person goes through in the face of a tragedy to light. I felt for Caleb, for Brett, and for Jesse.

Brett was easy enough to like and I admired him for his loyalty; even if it did make me want to smack him at times. I may not have always understood his choices, but I do believe that he thought he was doing what was right, and for that, I cannot fault him.

I’m not going to lie. Jesse irritated me in the beginning of the novel. She was just TOO sweet and wholesome for my taste. I mean, really? She had such a STRONG aversion to cursing that it drove me insane. However, I really warmed up to her as the story progressed. The way she handled Brett’s delicate situation was admirable. She tried to sympathize with all parties, and I give her credit for that. I wouldn’t have been able to.

Caleb was my absolute favorite character, and the one that I was able to relate to the most. His entire life changed on the same night that Brett’s did, but in a more devastating way. He’s a sweetheart who is a bit damaged, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for his story.

I give this book 4.5 emotionally driven stars. I really enjoyed this novel. There were things that were difficult for me to read, but that’s only because it hit so close to home. This was a fantastic debut from Aly Martinez and I can’t wait to see what she does next.

I’m a 32 year old wife and stay at home mom to four kids under the age of five, including a set of twins. My life is crazy, which is probably why I drink entirely too much wine. Oh who am I kidding, I had a love affair with wine long before the kids came along. I was born and raised in Savannah Georgia, but we recently moved to Chicago. Let me tell you, this southern girl was not ready for the cold weather up here!

I’m an avid reader, but I haven’t always been that way. A few years ago my sister loaned me her Nook Color, and it changed my life forever. In the span of about two years, I read over 500 books. My newfound love of reading led me to start a book blog with two of my best friends. (Insert shameless plug here: WhiteZinBookends.com). Through WZ Bookends, I've had the opportunity to meet some of the most amazing authors, bloggers, and readers out there. Now that I have taken the leap into writing my own book, they’ve all shown me endless amounts of encouragement and support.

While driving home from Walmart one day in late October, a story embedded itself in my head and would not let go. It spiraled out of control until I finally opened my laptop and started writing. This journey has been a wild ride filled with tears, hand cramps, and tons of laughs. I love company, so follow me at one of the social links below and join me aboard this crazy train!

Giving In
(The Sandy Cover Series Book 1)
by M.R. Joseph
Releases end of February

Raphael Cruz doesn't do it. He just doesn't. Cruz doesn't fall in love. He's a "get in and get out" kind of guy. Ladies love him and fall all over him for his swoon worthy good looks and overwhelming sex appeal. He knows how to talk to them and tells them exactly what they want to hear. When he's done making them scream his name, he shows them straight to the door. The meaning of the word love doesn't exist in his world. But that could all change with a wink of a girl's eye... And one hot-as-hell romp in a bar bathroom.
Harlow Hannum is your typical girl-next-door. She has the brains, the beauty, and the money. What she doesn't have is the luxury of being someone's first choice in the game of love. She always comes in a distant second place, leaving her guarded with her feelings. Lies, betrayal, and secrets of her past follow her wherever she goes, no matter how hard she tries to hide them.  That is until she's reunited with the one guy who can ignite the spark in her heart that's been extinguished for so long.
