Cover Reveal - Trip by T. Torrest

Happy cover Reveal day to T. Torrest! I can even begin to tell you how much I adored this story and characters when I met them in the Remember When Trilogy. I fell hard for both Layla and Trip; so I absolutely insist that you read those books before you read Trip. I haven’t read it yet but the author states it’s going to be a completely different book filling in gaps and such. Ahhhh! I can’t wait :)

Layla Warren first introduced us to Trip Wilmington in REMEMBER WHEN... Now read his side of the story!
Prepare to travel back to your teen years... That time in your life before the real world kicked in, that limbo between adolescence and adulthood, that trial of hanging onto the past while figuring out where the future will lie.

With heart-shredding romance, steamy love scenes, and hilarious 80s references, readers of all ages will find themselves falling in love with TRIP all over again .

***Author's note: This is no copy/paste job. This is a brand new story that fills in the blanks during Trip and Layla's separation while still bringing all the magic moments of the two of them together.

It is highly recommended--but not required--that you read Remember When prior to reading TRIP.

Release date tentatively scheduled for November 16.

Blog Tour Review - Snow & Rose by Emily Winfield Martin

Publisher: Random House for Young Readers
Published: October 10, 2017
Genre: Middle Grade Fantasy
Source:Print ARC
Rating: 4.5 Stars

A New York Times bestselling author-illustrator brings readers into the woods to meet two young sisters and a strange bit of magic in this reimagining of the classic but little-known fairy tale "Snow White and Rose Red."

Snow and Rose didn't know they were in a fairy tale. People never do....
Once, they lived in a big house with spectacular gardens and an army of servants.
Once, they had a father and mother who loved them more than the sun and moon.
But that was before their father disappeared into the woods and their mother disappeared into sorrow.
This is the story of two sisters and the enchanted woods that have been waiting for them to break a set of terrible spells.

Bestselling author-illustrator Emily Winfield Martin has created a world that sits on the border of enchantment, with characters who are grounded in real emotions that readers will recognize in themselves.

When I first saw this book, I couldn’t stop staring at the gorgeous cover. I knew right then and there, I had to have it. What’s even better? The inside where the story is beautifully told and we get breathtaking illustrations. So much beauty I couldn’t even take it.

Snow and Rose are sisters that after having been through a tragedy, move to a cabin in the woods with their Mother. The story is a fun-filled adventure that takes a reader on a journey so enchanting, that you don’t want the book to end. I’m unfamiliar with the original tale, so I cannot give you my opinions on the matter. From what I’ve read though, the book has the wonderful essence that fairy tales tend to take.

When you read the first page, you already know you’re going to like the book. It’s so whimsical and sweet! Snow and Rose are characters after my own heart. They both were so different yet complimented each other in a way that made you love them so much. I can’t end a review without naming their cat, Earl Grey. Isn’t that just the cutest name for a cat? I think so!

All I have to say is ‘I WANT MORE’. I want more stories like these. Ones that I can read and feel as if I’ve been grown into another world completely. That’s what reading is all about.

Title: Hideaway
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Author: Penelope Douglas
Release Date: October 2nd, 2017

DEVIL'S NIGHT is returning! Hiding places, chases, and all the games are back...

Buried in the shadows of the city, there’s a hotel called The Pope. Ailing, empty, and dark—it sits abandoned and surrounded by a forgotten mystery.

But you think it’s true, don’t you, Kai Mori? The story about the hidden twelfth floor. The mystery of the dark guest who never checked in and never checks out. You think I can help you find that secret hideaway and get to him, don’t you?

You and your friends can try to scare me. You can try to push me. Because even though I struggle to hide everything I feel when you look at me—and have ever since I was a girl—I think that maybe what you seek is so much closer than you’ll ever realize.

I will never betray him.

So sit tight.

On Devil’s Night, the hunt will be coming to you.

You have no idea what I seek, Little One. You don’t know what I had to become to survive three years in prison for a crime I would gladly commit again.

No one can know what I’ve turned into.

I want that hotel, I want to find him, and I want this over.

I want my life back.

But the more I’m around you, the more I realize this new me is exactly who I was meant to be.

So come on, kid. Don’t chicken out. My house is on the hill. So many ways in, and good luck finding your way out.

I’ve seen your hideaway. Time to see mine.

*Hideaway is a romantic suspense suitable for ages 18+. While the romance is a stand-alone, the plot is a continuation of events that began in CORRUPT (Devil's Night, #1). It is strongly recommended that you have read Corrupt prior to reading this. It is currently on sale for $0.99.

My Review:

Hideaway is an engrossing story that pulled me in more and more with every page turned. It’s fast paced and entertaining and I couldn’t get enough. I loved the way the past and present were weaved together, giving us just the right amount of information at a time. It helped keep an air of mystery to the story and allowed the anticipation to build.

I had adored Kai when I read him in Corrupt, but now I just freaking love him. He’s intense, passionate, and determined. This is a man who goes after what he wants, not allowing anything to get in his way.

Banks was the most surprising character for me. She’s unpredictable, fierce, and loyal to a fault. I always love seeing a heroine that can take care of herself. That being said, she’s also stubborn as hell and had me wanting to shake some sense into her at times.

Hideaway also managed to do the impossible; it shattered all thoughts and feelings that I had about Damon as a character. My heart broke and bled for him from the bits of information that we received and I am on the edge of my seat needing his story sooner rather than later. His redemption and healing are going to make for one hell of a story.

Penelope continues to remain one of my favorite authors. Her stories are always fresh, entertaining, and full of characters that you can’t help but love (even when you try not to). I can always count on her for a healthy dose of drama and angst. If you’re looking for your next five-star read then look no further. Unless, of course, you haven’t read Corrupt. Then I would most definitely start there.

Blog Tour Review + Giveaway - Without Merit by Colleen Hoover

Not every mistake deserves a consequence. Sometimes the only thing a mistake deserves is forgiveness.

Visit for teasers, tour dates and more.

The Voss family is anything but normal. They live in a repurposed church, newly baptized Dollar Voss. The once cancer-stricken mother lives in the basement, the father is married to the mother’s former nurse, the little half-brother isn’t allowed to do or eat anything fun, and the eldest siblings are irritatingly perfect. Then, there’s Merit.

Merit Voss collects trophies she hasn’t earned and secrets her family forces her to keep. While browsing the local antiques shop for her next trophy, she finds Sagan. His wit and unapologetic idealism disarm and spark renewed life into her—until she discovers that he’s completely unavailable. Merit retreats deeper into herself, watching her family from the sidelines, when she learns a secret that no trophy in the world can fix.

Fed up with the lies, Merit decides to shatter the happy family illusion that she’s never been a part of before leaving them behind for good. When her escape plan fails, Merit is forced to deal with the staggering consequences of telling the truth and losing the one boy she loves.

Poignant and powerful, WITHOUT MERIT explores the layers of lies that tie a family together and the power of love.

"You bury me."

Colleen Hoover. I remember the first time I ever picked up a CoHo novel. Way back when in 2012 when I just happened to stumble upon it on Goodreads. I decided to read a few pages of that book and then ended up finishing it in one sitting. That's when I met Will and was forever changed. Does that make me sound overdramatic?

Point of Retreat came out and I devoured the absolute shit out of it. Then the next time I would pick up another book by Colleen would be when Hopeless came out. I almost couldn't read it because I was so scared that it wouldn't live up to the writing in the Slammed series. I shouldn't have worried...

Every single one of Colleen's books somehow get better and better with each new release. How in the hell does she do that?

If you're sitting there wondering how in the hell the next story of hers will top the last book she wrote (which made me cry for a week straight, no joke!), then you have nothing to worry about. Without Merit may be different than any other book she's ever written, but it was both unique and beautiful. Something I know to be signature Colleen Hoover.

That being said, I think Without Merit is enchanting and comes at a close second to my favorite CoHo book. Many of Colleen's fans like to go into reading the book without knowing anything about it. I know what it means for me; it means I don't read the blurb or reviews. So if you haven't yet read the story, have no fear, I won't give away anything.

“Not every mistake deserves a consequence. Sometimes the only thing a mistake deserves is forgiveness.”

The message in the end was beautifully put. And that's all I'm gonna say on that front because I feel like I'd be giving away a major plot device if I elaborate. The story is full on family drama. It's not the cheesy drama that makes you roll your eyes, either. It's the kind that so damn realistic that you have to just sit back and take a deep breath. Secrets. There are SO MANY!! Some that made my jaw drop and others that made me so incredibly sad. Did I cry? I shed some tears but it wasn't anything like that damn book It Ends With Us. (<= I'm still not over it btw)

The best thing about the story was the underlining ray of hope. Hope for a broken family who I didn't much care for in the beginning. But one I grew to love and care for. The character growth was something else. Every single character endeared themselves to me in one way or another. Every last one of them. The family is definitely quirky, but that's what makes them so damn lovable.

Colleen, if you're reading this, you totally did it again. I should probably stop doubting you every release haha. For those wanting to know if there is any romance, all I'm gonna say is read the book and find out for yourself! Overall, even though I'm satisfied with Merit and gang. I wouldn't mind if there were other novels featuring a different character's personal story. Until then, I'll just use my imagination.

"Sincerely, Without Merit"

Blog Tour Review- Haunting the Deep by Adriana Mathers

Publisher: Knopf Books for Young Readers
Published: October 3, 2017
Genre: Young Adult
Source: Print ARC
Rating: 4 Stars

The Titanic meets the delicious horror of Ransom Riggs and the sass of Mean Girls in this follow-up to the #1 New York Times bestseller How to Hang a Witch, in which a contemporary teen finds herself a passenger on the famous “ship of dreams”—a story made all the more fascinating because the author’s own relatives survived the doomed voyage.

Samantha Mather knew her family’s connection to the infamous Salem Witch Trials might pose obstacles to an active social life. But having survived one curse, she never thought she’d find herself at the center of a new one.

This time, Sam is having recurring dreams about the Titanic . . . where she’s been walking the deck with first-class passengers, like her aunt and uncle. Meanwhile, in Sam’s waking life, strange missives from the Titanic have been finding their way to her, along with haunting visions of people who went down with the ship.

Ultimately, Sam and the Descendants, along with some help from heartthrob Elijah, must unravel who is behind the spell that is drawing her ever further into the dream ship . . . and closer to sharing the same grim fate as its ghostly passengers.

If you haven’t already figured it out, this is the second book to How to Hang A Witch. I, personally, would recommend reading the first book before starting Haunting the Deep. I think Mathers’s writing is intelligent, fun, and engrossing. She knows how to tell a story; one that keeps you turning the pages. I can’t tell you how excited I was when contacted to review the next book.
Samantha is such a well thought out and interesting character to read about. She’s able to see and converse with the dead. In fact, she’s in love with one. One that I’ve never really been on board with. I guess you could say that there’s a “love triangle” of sorts, but there really isn’t a question of who she loves and wants to be with.

Sure, Elijah is über yummy but he’s from the 16th century and I think I’m just partial to Jaxon. Anyways, that’s all I’m gonna say about the romance aspect of the book. Because of course this is so much more than all of that! The Titanic is one of the most horrific events to ever happen. The unsinkable ship did just that. It sank. Now Sam is seeing and becoming apart of the infamous ship. With Samantha, Elijah and the gang of Descendants, are they going to be able to stop history from repeating itself?

Overall, I thought that this was so fun and just as good as the first. If not better. The characters are endearing and have a way of working their way into your hearts. This was a creepy good book that I won’t mind going back to again and again.

Blog Blitz Excerpt
Maybe he was right. Maybe it was time she was honest with him.

Careful to keep her voice low, she turned her head and looked off down the street. Honesty might be the best policy, but she couldn’t force herself to look into that disarming hazel gaze while she said the words.

“I wasn’t prepared for this. I was prepared for a weekend. A little fun with someone I trusted once. That’s different, you know, than a hookup in a bar. But you’re…you. It’s childish, really, to still feel that way. To be jealous of a dead woman.” She heaved a sigh and finally forced herself to look at him. “But I am.”

Her insides shook as she waited. That was the most she’d ever told him. She didn’t know if she actually wanted his response and yet part of her craved it. A holdover from all those years ago. Back in college, she’d wanted him to know she’d fallen in love with him, because she’d held out this hope he’d tell her he loved her back. Pathetic that the need still hovered beneath the surface.

Those keen eyes worked her face. Then, finally, he smiled, warm and alluring. “So, dinner? Next Friday?”

There was that sexy smile she’d known would make an appearance, and she was caving, exactly the way she’d known she would.

She heaved a sigh and nodded. “Fine. You win. I’ll have dinner with you next Friday. But since I owe you for the car and clearly you’re not taking my money…”

“Nope.” He winked, eyes gleaming with playful impishness and a touch of smug self-satisfaction.

Giddy, happy little butterflies took flight in her stomach. “Then I’m cooking.”

One dark brow arched and the corners of his mouth twitched. “Can you do that?”

This time, her facade cracked. She punched him in the shoulder. “Yes, thank you very much. Contrary to popular belief, I have actually grown up.”

Those gorgeous eyes glinted at her. “So you have.”

“Friday. Six o’clock. Don’t be late.” She pivoted and marched toward her car, determined to get away from him before she embarrassed herself. As she reached into her purse, however, it hit her. Gabe had her keys. She halted, sighed, and, face hot as Hades itself, turned back.

Gabe stood grinning at her, his right arm extended. He jangled her keys, dangling from his thumb and forefinger. “Missing something?”

She rolled her eyes and strode back to him, but when she reached for the keys, he held tight to them.

“I look forward to seeing you, you know. I’ll say it again, in case you missed my point last time. Were you anybody else, that first date wouldn’t have gone this far.” He finally released her keys and winked at her. “And I won’t be late. I’m never late.”
