Blurb:
If you’re planning on falling in love…

When it comes to the confident, charismatic Caleb Parker, Sadie Lane feels the spark—the kind that comes from rubbing each other the wrong way. She’s a tattoo artist, he’s a straight-laced mogul. But after they accidentally co-rescue an abandoned dog from a storm, Sadie sees a vulnerable side to the seemingly invincible hottie.

you’d better be sure…

Caleb doesn’t do emotions. Growing up the underdog, he’s learned the hard way to build up an impenetrable wall. Perfect for business. Disastrous for relationships. He’s never worried about it before—not until he finally gets behind Sadie’s armor and begins to fall.

… someone is there to catch you.

Both guarded and vulnerable, Sadie and Caleb are complete opposites. Or are they? Shocked at their undeniable connection, can they ever admit to wanting more? That all depends on what they’re each willing to risk.

Review:
Three stars for Caleb and Lollipop alone. Caleb is one of those heroes that’s completely good. He was kind, caring, owned up to the mistakes he made, and he adored a woman who was so freaking unlikeable! Cudos to him.

Sadie at face value is a judgmental...woman. Which would be more understanding if I actually saw any sort of growth from her by the end. But there I am at 80% and she’s still being a little b*tch to Caleb. It’s frustrating! He doesn’t deserve it. No matter what sort of shit she went through pre-Caleb—doesn’t give her the right to punish him when she feels he did something “untrustworthy” or “wrong”. How many times does the guy have to apologize?

Besides having an unlikeable heroine; I much enjoyed the story. The story of two adults rescuing a dog and becoming co-doggie parents. Every scene with Lollipop was golden. It’s a shame the story raised my hackles with Sadie! I’ll continue to read Jill Shavis because she does know how to bring the romantic and laughs on; this just isn’t one I would consider a favorite.
