Review-
Immediate connections to characters are a huge thing for me when it comes to reading. If I can’t connect to a character, then ninety nine percent of the time I won’t  like it. I’m happy to say that’s not the case here. I immediately connected to Mae as she navigated throw some tough changes in her life. She’s reeling from a very public humiliation and her birth mother just passed away. 

“Maybe I wasn’t looking at my visit to Timber Creek the right way. Maybe it was an opportunity. Maybe I was being given a chance to start over in a new place.“

What starts as a closure for Mae for the mother she felt never wanted to know her—begins a story of love, secrets, and ultimately finding family in the most unlikely places.  I loved that the story goes into Annabelle’s past. We grow to understand all the whys and the hows of her life. Mae will finally earn some much needed answers. 

Things really started to pick up for me once Mae decides to stick around in her mother’s hometown and where she was left with everything Annabelle owned. That included a house, car, some money, and a cool group of women in a knitting club. 

I thought that I would be getting a light-hearted read about a woman who finds herself after a bad breakup. What I got instead was something much deeper and meaningful that I couldn’t help but tear up. Adored this to the moon and back!

As a child, one of my most favorite books in the whole wide world was Junkie B. Jones. I loved her sassiness and all the shenanigans she would find herself getting into. I felt like Junie and I were kindred spirits. Fast forward to now and the new girl in town, Mindy!

Mindy and her father have just moved from California and Mindy is officially the new girl. Being the new girl can be very hard, especially for a young girl who doesn’t know how she’ll ever fit in. 

As luck would have it, things start looking up for Mindy when she starts trading out her snacks with the other kids snacks at school. But could this have consequences that could end badly? 

This was a super cute and super fast read perfect for children looking for something to help them not feel so alone. I look forward to the next book! Mindy is the best.

Review:
Rocky relationship troubles between married couples are very addictive to me. I love watching the husband fight for what he so casually threw away or took for granted. Rosie and Dominic. Wow. What other words could I even say or come up with?

Honestly, I absolutely loathed the first book. So much so, that I almost didn’t want to read this one. But I’m glad I took the chance because I loved it. More than that? I adored it! Rosie is just the kind of female lead I can be behind—she’s strong yet isn’t afraid to let her vulnerability show. The book was emotional and deep, and absolutely beautiful!

Dominic is your next book husband, ladies. Yes, he could be a bit rough around the edges at times. One thing I was absolutely positive about though was the love he had for Rosie. Hell, they’d been with each other since they were kids in high school. The love and respect they have for one another couldn’t just have gone poof. Right?

This is a story about following your dreams and never settling for anything less than what you deserve. Rosie fought and there was Dominic, fighting just as hard for their love. This is one for the books, maybe one of my favorites so far this year.

Boy, those Jill Shalvis books are everything. Every time I open one up, I just know I’m going to fall in love. This is the story of Piper, Cam, and all the family that comes with them. The romance was on point. The male and female leads made me swoon. It was the family dynamics that’s truly made Almost Just Friends what it was—a masterpiece.

•  Never ever, EVER, under any circumstances fall in love.

Piper is my kind of gal. She’s that one whose always making lists upon lists. The organized one—the one who needs to let loose a little bit. Cam is works as a DEA agent and is also in the Coast Guard. The way these two start out is wonderful!

The romance was sexy, sweet, and explosive. After spending most of her life taking care of others (including her siblings) Piper is finally learning that it’s okay to put herself first. Cam is right there by her side helping her along. He has some demons in his past that have caused him tons of guilt...among other things.

Overall, this is a classic Shalvis and will no doubt put a huge smile on reader’s faces!

Review:
I’ve always loved the saying “throw like a girl”. People say it as an insult; but I ALWAYS took it as a compliment. That meaning has no merit in terms of trying to put down a woman because she isn’t as “strong” as her male counterpart. Instead, I’d like to think of it as meaning you’re badass and why the hell wouldn’t you want to throw like a girl? Being one is AMAZING!

That was the attitude that our main character, Liv, has. She’s an amazing athlete and she knows her worth—I loved her immediately. But she gets into some trouble at the start of the book, which causes her to get suspended from the team and lose her scholarship. Therefore, she ends up going to another school, the school that she punched a girl at no less, and has to earn her way on the softball team. She’ll do this by showing she can be a team player.

Enter football. What better way to show you’re a team player than by playing one of the most brutal sports in the world!? The star quarterback, Grey, sees Liv messing around while she’s throwing a football with her brother. It’s there he recruits her to be the second string quarterback. It’s also where sparks start to fly between the two. Have I mentioned that her ex boyfriend is also on the team?!

I thought this was such a fun read about sports. Girl in sports, to be more exact. What I loved most about the book was the relationship between friends and family. The closeness between Liv and her siblings is what it’s all about! It made me love an appreciate my siblings more.  The romance wasn’t too shabby either! If you’re in need of a light read featuring a tough heroine and an equally kindhearted (and very cute!) hero, this is for you.

Review:
Blitzed was funny, romantic, and just plain fun. Alexa Martin is quickly making her way to one of my favorites when it comes to romantic comedy. There’s something about a humorous love story to keep you on your toes.

Max and Brynn were a decent couple. Although there were questionable times that I really felt like Brynn could step up for her man better. That’s just me though. I liked her and I love her bar HERS. If I went to bars, that would definitely be one I could find myself going to.

While I think Martin does well, (and is one of the faves, after all) this wasn’t my favorite book. The female friendships are what kept me turning the pages. The romance came second. I enjoyed most of the interactions but sometimes I felt underwhelmed with it all. Overall, good story and swoony hero!

Review:
Wow. So I’ve been in a HUGE book funk lately and nothing has caught my attention. Then I decided to go ahead and see what Justified was all about and ended up connecting with the characters within the very first page. Now I’m done and don’t know what to do with myself while I wait for Unforgiven to come out next month.

I guess it could be worse; I could have had to wait much longer if I read this when it first came out. Justified kind of has a enemies to lovers trope to it but that quickly changes when our heroine, Aspen, life’s endanger. We’ve got a hot-shot attorney and a sexy-as-sin sheriff who will stop at nothing to make sure the woman whom he loves to hate, is safe.

I’ve been a long time buyer of Crownover’s books. But I’m sad to admit I’ve never read any of them. That’s about to change fast. I loved Aspen and I equally loved Case. I liked how the two had so much history, that the next logical step was to get together. Even if they did sort of loathe each other.

This is a start of a new series and while the couple from this book have an ending romantic story line, there’s still a bigger picture to the story as a whole. I, for one, am mighty excited to get Kody and Hill’s story next. I was able to read a preview of their book, and oh man, I already know they’ll break me! Readers of romantic suspense and on going storylines will enjoy this.

Sidenote: I seriously thought I was broken. I’m a lifelong bookworm and for the entire month of December I was able to fully immerse myself in a good book. I’m glad Jay has finally taken me out of that funk!

“It sucked, but I’ve lived and breathed my numbers forever. Who am I without them?”

Do you want to know what my first initial reaction to this was? It was the Black Mirror episode Nosedive featuring Bryce Howard Dallas. It basically tells the story of a woman OBSESSED with her ranking and will stop at nothing in order to bring it up. In my opinion, it was one of the most depressing episodes I’d seen because it rang so true to our world now. Where looking good and presenting a perfect picture of our lives meant so much to people who don’t even matter.

What is social media? And how in the world have we become so obsessed at having people we don’t and won’t ever know’s approval. In Keystone, Ella Karman has to change her entire world view on how damaging the digital world can be. It’s all been engrained that status is everything and anything less, means you’re less.

When Ella leaves behind everything, she has no clue what she’s in for. What we get is juicy drama consisted of a kick ass heroine, a swoonworthy hero, and an intriguing conspiracy filled plot! There wasn’t a dull moment to be had. Delahanty writes such a fun story that I couldn’t put down. Don’t miss out on this one!

Have you ever had a moment when picking up a book and just knowing from opening it, that it’s going to be one of those books? Kind of like an instant connection that feels as if it’s coming straight from your soul? I read a lot of books. So many that make me feel sooo many different things and each of them teaching me something different about life or myself. Jane Anonymous is what I like to call a once in a lifetime book—for the sheer ability to attach itself to my heart and never letting go. 

Sounds a bit dramatic, yes? I can count on one hand how many books have attached themselves to me and now I get to add a new book to that list. From the very first moment of starting the story, I fell in love with the words and with Jane’s voice. A voice she believes was lost when she was taken. So she writes—and it helps her find that part of herself that was lost. 

We follow Jane in Now and Then intervals—basically the present (and after the abduction) and the during (the time she spent in captivity). We, as readers, see how and when her light starts to fade. It’s in captivity that she meets fellow captive, Mason. It’s through him that she has something to live for; to survive.

This is a story about trauma, loss, and healing. You might have noticed that I put down the same quote twice in my review. That quote caused my allergies to flare up. How else could I explain the way I had tears dripping down my face? Overall, I thought this was beautifully done. I would like to state that while I did love this and everything it represents, it was predictable. I don’t know if the author intended it to be that way but ever since I read the blurb, and then started the beginning, I kind of just knew. It didn’t change a thing for me though.
