Summary: A spinoff of Melody Anne’s New York Times bestselling Billionaire Bachelors series, this entrancing e-novella features motocross racer Taylor Winchester and little sister to Hawk, the hero of “Safe in His Arms” from the romance anthology Baby, It’s Cold Outside.
As a motocross rider, Taylor Winchester has made a career out of throwing herself headfirst into danger, as fiercely as any of the guys racing against her. But after a brutal crash, she takes a little forced R&R while her injuries heal. Her mom wishes she’d settle down, find love, maybe have a baby or two…but all Taylor wants is to get back on her bike.
She heads to her brother Hawk’s cabin to get a little peace and quiet—but is shocked to discover she’s not the only inhabitant. Ex-military man Travis, her high school crush, has also borrowed the cabin, and the two of them are each too stubborn to let the other one win. Nothing left to do but share the cabin…which quickly leads to sharing a bed! As Taylor and Travis discover that the heat between them is far more than a fling, they both struggle with letting go of control. But if they learn to give a little, what they could win is worth more than any prize...

Dear

“baby” AN EMBER IN THE ASHES is finally out in the world! From inception to pub
date, this journey took eight years. And what a journey it was: writing,
rewriting, revising, editing, querying, submitting; Meeting other debuts,

There aren’t enough superlatives to describe the radness.
And now, the
book is here! I am so excited to see it in the hands of readers. I hope you
enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. To celebrate release day, I’m
giving away two signed, first-edition hardcovers of the book. Details below!
All my best,
Sabaa Review:
An Ember in the Ashes was absolutely terrifying yet beautiful in a way. The world is one that I would never want to live in and for that reason alone is what makes it so terrifying. It's beautiful because Tahir was able to create such a world that seems like it's real. As if it's happening across the world now. It probably is. Living a life as a slave where you're in constant fear and in a world full of pain isn't living. The characters showed a lot of spunk, were courageous at times that I wouldn't have been able to, and they showed the type of vulnerability that made me love them even more. I would have to say that every review you've read is telling the truth. This is a must read!
Laia is after one thing; her brother whose been taken by the empire to await execution for not conforming to the empire ways. What's a girl to do when she has no family and no where to go? How will she be able to save her brother when she can't even save herself? Laia isn't your typical heroine that's fearlessly independent and one that can hold her own. That's what I loved about her. You're probably thinking why would you like a "weak" heroine. But that s not the case at all. I never saw her as weak; I saw her as a girl that had time to grow. To be who she was meant to be. That is the best kind of character to follow and love. Which is why I loved her so much. Where as some would show no remorse when they turned the other way, Laia would be the one right there trying to save you and help you.
Elias. Not only is he the best warrior but deep down he's good. He hates his life and the day he's going to do something about it, an Augur tells him that in order to be free he must stay. Stay in the life that's a living hell. Stay in a life of misery. How in the world will he ever become free. It's then decided that him and three other Masks (soldiers of the Empire) will compete in a competition called the Trials. They're a saga of tests to weed out the weak and to find the next emperor. The Trials are tough and test Elias and the other to the death. In the end, what will happen? Will Elias gain the freedom he craves? Or will he succumb to misery for eternity?
I can't recommend An Ember in the Ashes enough. I fell in love with the writing, the characters, even the scary world it's all based in. This is one book you do not want to put off reading. It needs to be read because it's one that you won't forget anytime soon. I know I won't. I'm hoping that there will be a second book because the story ended kind of open ended. I'd like to know more! Sabaa now has a fan for life because I think I will pretty much read anything she writes.

Set in a
terrifyingly brutal Rome-like world, An Ember in the Ashes is an epic fantasy
debut about an orphan fighting for her family and a soldier fighting for his
freedom. It’s a story that’s literally burning to be told.
LAIA is a
Scholar living under the iron-fisted rule of the Martial Empire. When her
brother is arrested for treason, Laia goes undercover as a slave at the
empire’s greatest military academy in exchange for assistance from rebel
Scholars who claim that they will help to save her brother from execution.
ELIAS is the
academy’s finest soldier—and secretly, its most unwilling. Elias is considering
deserting the military, but before he can, he’s ordered to participate in a
ruthless contest to choose the next Martial emperor.
When Laia
and Elias’s paths cross at the academy, they find that their destinies are more
intertwined than either could have imagined and that their choices will change
the future of the empire itself.

All her life, Barrie Watson has been a virtual prisoner in the house where she lives with her shut-in mother. When her mother dies, Barrie promises to put some mileage on her stiletto heels. But she finds a new kind of prison at her aunt’s South Carolina plantation instead--a prison guarded by an ancient spirit who long ago cursed one of the three founding families of Watson Island and gave the others magical gifts that became compulsions.
Stuck with the ghosts of a generations-old feud and hunted by forces she cannot see, Barrie must find a way to break free of the family legacy. With the help of sun-kissed Eight Beaufort, who knows what Barrie wants before she knows herself, the last Watson heir starts to unravel her family's twisted secrets. What she finds is dangerous: a love she never expected, a river that turns to fire at midnight, a gorgeous cousin who isn’t what she seems, and very real enemies who want both Eight and Barrie dead.

I never imagined things could get worse, but they do. The men who took us show no mercy. They won’t stop until they’ve destroyed Rafe for something he has no memory of, and I’m their weapon of choice.
Tortured and defiled, they make me wish I was back in that cabin where death was favorable to drawing another breath, but our captors can’t break what’s already broken.
What scares me is the madness I see festering inside Rafe. I’ve taken his freedom, his career, his reputation, yet despite all I’ve done, he’s determined to fight for me, kill for me, give everything he is for me.
He’ll even die for me.
NOTE TO READERS
FERVENT is a new adult dark romance with disturbing themes and explicit content, including sexual scenes and violence that may offend some. Intended for mature audiences. Part three of the CONDEMNED series. This is not a stand-alone read! Please begin with TORRENT and RAMPANT, otherwise, FERVENT might not make much sense.
If you’re new to the Condemned Series then I highly recommend that you go pick up a copy of Torrent and Rampant before starting in on this gem. This is a part of a series and was not intended to be a stand-alone, therefore you will be lost.
If you've already read the first two books and you’re contemplating on getting this one as well, then stop dragging your feet and just one-click it already. Trust me. You will not be disappointed.
I can honestly say that I wasn't that impressed with Alex when I first read about her in Torrent, but holy hell. I can’t believe this girl is still standing after all that she endures here. She’s constantly being violated, beaten, and tortured. But despite all that, she refuses to back down. There’s not a thing that she wouldn't do, not a thing that she wouldn't agree to, if it meant saving Rafe’s life. He’s what matters to her. He’s what keeps her going.
My heart kind of broke for Rafe. He’s still suffering from memory loss so it’s like going through hell twice, he doesn’t remember the things he’s being accused of, and the flashes of memory that he’s regained from his time with Alex leaves him with a deep sense of guilt. But worse than that, he doesn’t understand the dark desires that threaten to overwhelm him. It was interesting to see two very different sides of his character, and I rather enjoyed the delicate balance of it all.
Now it took me awhile to figure out how I really felt about this book. If I’m to be completely honest, I kept putting it aside because I continuously found myself getting rather pissed off. It’s very rare that I find myself wishing that I could live in a fictional world just so I could kill everyone, but that’s exactly what was happening here. But here’s the thing. It made me think. It made me feel something. And a week after I finished Fervent, I found myself still thinking about some of the things that I read. THAT’S how I knew it was a five star read. If it stays with you for one reason or another then you know you have a winner.
As with the other books in this series, Fervent does end in a cliffhanger and I’ll be sitting here waiting (impatiently) for the final installment to release. I’m actually really excited to see how it’s all going to end.
**This book was given to me in exchange for an honest review. The fact that it was given to me in no way changes the way that I feel, and this review is based solely on the story itself**

The first rule of seduction is: don’t fall in love.
Fresh out of college, Dani Young heads for the LA sun to chase her dream of becoming a screenwriter-director. So when her former BFF turned actress Elise offers Dani the opportunity to work on the hit teen show Vamp Camp, Dani can’t refuse, even if it comes at a price: Elise wants Dani to seduce her boyfriend, Vamp Camp superstar Tate Lawrence. Turns out Elise has some major trust issues, and needs Dani to test Tate’s faith. The only rule: don’t fall in love with him.
Sure, Dani doesn’t mind occasionally glimpsing Tate’s megawatt smile…or accidentally-on-purpose brushing up against his perfect torso…but she’s no fool. There’s no way she’d ever fall for a shallow celebrity and no way one would fall for her, a lanky movie nerd.
But amidst vampire-crazed fans, a conniving fellow intern, and a devilishly handsome showrunner, Dani feels like all the rules she used to know have disappeared, except for one: Love doesn’t play by the rules.
Part The Devil Wears Prada, part How To Lose a Guy in Ten Days, this story of friendship and romance is sure to appeal to fans of Stephanie Perkins, Jennifer E. Smith, and Anna Todd.
Review:
"We’re lying to him. She’s lying to him and I’m lying to him and together we’re lying to him. We’re just a bunch of lying liars who lie."
I really loved Rules of Seduction. For some odd reason I can't resist the Hollywood hottie falling in love with a normal gal. It just doesn't get any better than that! Sure, I admit that asking your best friend to seduce your boyfriend is completely bogus. Who am I kidding? It's absolutely ridiculous. But for me, it worked. After reading All the Rage, I needed something light-hearted. Something fun. And yes, something ridiculous. If this is something you may be after, I fully recommend this book!
Dani just finished college and is on her way to L.A. for an internship. Only she gets there and apparently the place she was supposed to be interning at, pretty much went bankrupt. So while Dani is down on her luck, she runs into her former BFF, Elise. Elise has a way in for Dani to get into the business and put her foot in the door by working for the hit T.V. show Vamp Camp. See, Dani has a screenplay and if she gets it to the right people, her dream would come true. There's a huge catch though. Elise wants Dani to seduce her boyfriend and Hollywood bad boy, Tate! My first thoughts on this were, why even date him if you can trust him! And of course the famous last words:
"Don't fall in love with him."
Psh, easier said than done. Tate is not at all what he seems. To the outside world, he's a naughty boy. But really, he's sweet and so kind. He truly cares about the people around him. The way Danika meets him was hilarious and instantly the sparks flew. I wanted to know more about Tate, I wanted to know more about Dani.
I've always wondered if Hollywood is truly like that. From a normal peasant pov, it seems so glamorous and fun. But is it always that fun? Or are they just trying to cast an illusion?
I loved how the secondary characters were just as awesome as the first. Namely, Dani's roommate,
Brit. That girl was so damn awesome. I would totally love to have a book from her pov. She's the type of girl you want by your side because you know she's got your back.
"For the first time I realize how dangerous Tate Lawrence is."
Do you like a heavy dose of angst? Cause you're in the right place. The angst was amazing! It's what kept me reading until I finished the book from start to finish. Tate is so dreamy and I feel sad that he isn't real. You know what they say, book boyfriends do it better.
Overall, I can't recommend this enough. It's filled with sarcastic and witty banter and the romance is on point. Just like to reiterate that this is a fictional book and take it for what it is! It's not in the slightest believable but that's the charm.
"Tate is not my boyfriend. He is not my potential boyfriend. He is my best friend’s boyfriend . . . so why do I feel like Elise is taking something that is mine?"

In fourth grade, Jenna put her classmates into a story about fire safety, and they laughed the entire time she read it aloud. Since then, she's been writing with the sole purpose to entertain other people. Fire safety, however, fell to the wayside when she accidentally set her grandmother's bathroom on fire when she was 12.
In 2010, she moved from Indiana to Los Angeles to intern at E!, and she is now a writer/editor/pop culture gatekeeper at E! Online. A Midwest girl who prefers Southern California weather, Jenna loves the Indianapolis Colts, saving Hyrule and training for her backup dream career: deciding what goes into the baskets on Food Network's Chopped. She currently resides in LA with her nerdy, handsome boyfriend Kyle and their two fluffier-than-normal cats, Glenn and Zelda.
History has a way of repeating itself. In the Sunken City that was once Paris, all who oppose the new revolution are being put to the blade. Except for those who disappear from their prison cells, a red-tipped rook feather left in their place. Is the mysterious Red Rook a savior of the innocent or a criminal?
Meanwhile, across the sea in the Commonwealth, Sophia Bellamy’s arranged marriage to the wealthy René Hasard is the last chance to save her family from ruin. But when the search for the Red Rook comes straight to her doorstep, Sophia discovers that her fiancé is not all he seems. Which is only fair, because neither is she.
As the Red Rook grows bolder and the stakes grow higher, Sophia and René find themselves locked in a tantalizing game of cat and mouse.
Review:
I had a very hard time getting into Rook. It was one I happened to glance upon while browsing Goodreads. As soon as I read the synopsis, I just knew I had to have it. When I received the ARC in he mail one day I was elated with pure joy! I started right away as you can imagine. But after a few pages I put it down and chalked it up to being too tired to read at the moment. I noticed that I did that a lot throughout the book. It took me forever to finish. I was so bored beyond tears. Through the boredom I found that I didn't like not one character. Not one. And believe me, I tried. I wanted to like this book so bad but it just wasn't in the cards for me.
The story starts off with the mysterious Red Rook freeing a family of prisoners from being executed by Leblanc; a very sadistic man. Turns out that the Rook is none other than a girl; Sophia Bellamy. I really did like her at first. Truly I did. But as I stated above, I was bored and couldn't get into this. I tried liking the parts that shared Sophia and Rene-the love interest... But again, bored and didn't care for them. It's nice that the book was finished in one instead of a series because I just wouldn't be able to continue.
Overall, this is not a book I can personally recommend. I like a little bit more action in my books and I don't like to be bombarded with useless information. If this is something you don't like either, I'd suggest skipping this one. This is such a disappointment for me because it's one I truly wanted and looked forward to. I still will try and read the author's other works to see if I like anything.

About the Author:
Sharon Cameron was awarded the 2009 Sue Alexander Most Promising New Work Award by the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators for her debut novel, The Dark Unwinding. When not writing Sharon can be found thumbing dusty tomes, shooting her longbow, or indulging in her lifelong search for secret passages.
The sheriff’s son, Kellan Turner, is not the golden boy everyone thinks he is, and Romy Grey knows that for a fact. Because no one wants to believe a girl from the wrong side of town, the truth about him has cost her everything—friends, family, and her community. Branded a liar and bullied relentlessly by a group of kids she used to hang out with, Romy’s only refuge is the diner where she works outside of town. No one knows her name or her past there; she can finally be anonymous. But when a girl with ties to both Romy and Kellan goes missing after a party, and news of him assaulting another girl in a town close by gets out, Romy must decide whether she wants to fight or carry the burden of knowing more girls could get hurt if she doesn’t speak up. Nobody believed her the first time—and they certainly won’t now — but the cost of her silence might be more than she can bear.
With a shocking conclusion and writing that will absolutely knock you out, All the Rage examines the shame and silence inflicted upon young women after an act of sexual violence, forcing us to ask ourselves: In a culture that refuses to protect its young girls, how can they survive?
My Review:
"You know all the ways to kill a girl? God, there are so many."
You have it in your head that it can never happen to you. Until it does. Imagine no one believing you and calling you a liar. Unfortunately, this the norm and it's the kind of stuff that happens every single day. And to think, there are girls (even boys) out there suffering in silence, thinking they are alone. Because this horrible, disgusting thing called rape, happened to them. 'ALL THE RAGE' lives up to its name. I was so mad but most of all I was sad. So very sad. That something like this can happen... That the heroine of the story somehow deserved what she got. Because she pretty much asked for it, right? Wrong, wrong, wrong. It's not okay and it never will be.
This was such a realistic look on what happens after that terrible, disgusting word happens. Of how broken the victim becomes when a community fails hers. Why is it socially acceptable to slut-shame and act like a complete asshole when it comes to rape? In most cases victims don't say anything for the reason of nothing happening. Or like in All the Rage, people wouldn't believe you anyways no matter how loud you cried. It has to stop. No one deserves this. I think Courtney Summers has brought awareness to a horrible situation and I hope that as women, we can stand by and be there for one another. Especially in times such as these.
"But just because something’s sweet doesn’t mean it won’t push itself so far past anything you could call sweet anymore. And if it all starts like this, how do you see what’s coming?"
Romy Grey is a social outcast; a girl who cried rape. Only thing is, is that it happened and no one believes her because it was done by the town golden boy. He can do no wrong, obviously... And because his family is like royalty in their town, everyone follows suit in hate. It doesn't help that her father is the town drunk, making her even more of an outcast. But at least then, people could tolerate her. After the rape, she lost everything. Seeking solace in a diner outside of town. It's there she meets people her truly care about her; something she stopped believing she was capable of.
"How do you get a girl to stop crying? You cover her mouth."
I started the beginning of this book somewhat blind. Once I read a few pages and realized what kind of story this would be, I almost stopped. I could feel my heart rate go up and my hands start to shake. This was not going to be an easy read. But the writing was brilliant and I couldn't stop. I read until I was half way done, then I went to bed. I woke up, and started reading again because the book would not leave my head. I had to finish it. I had to know how this sad, broken girl's story would end. Add on a girl going missing and you have yourself a bit of mystery going on.
I thought the character development was spot on. I could feel all the pain Romy kept inside. From the outside looking in, she'd appear to be put together but that's not how it is for her at all. What really hurt me was that she felt like she should deal with this alone. That no one could help her. And I totally get that. I used to be the same way but there comes a time when you should let go and trust those that DO love you. But in the end I see why she kept the world at arms length.
The very last sentence of the very last page is absolutely the most powerful words of the whole entire book. To me it showed the light at the end of a very dark tunnel. It was hope. Overall, this is a story that won't ever leave me. It's been engraved in my heart. A powerfully written novel that demands to be read.
"There are people with actual, real troubles out there and—” She grabs a stack of worksheets, and hands them over. “There are people who make trouble for themselves.”
