"The kind of book I enjoy the most—sparkling characters, fast-moving plot and laugh-out-loud dialogue. A winner!" —New York Times bestselling author Susan Elizabeth Phillips on If You Only Knew

New York Times bestselling author Kristan Higgins welcomes you home in this witty, emotionally charged novel about the complications of life, love and family

One step forward. Two steps back. The Tufts scholarship that put Nora Stuart on the path to becoming a Boston medical specialist was a step forward. Being hit by a car and then overhearing her boyfriend hit on another doctor when she thought she was dying? Two major steps back.

Injured in more ways than one, Nora feels her carefully built life cracking at the edges. There’s only one place to land: home. But the tiny Maine community she left fifteen years ago doesn’t necessarily want her. At every turn, someone holds the prodigal daughter of Scupper Island responsible for small-town drama and big-time disappointments.

With a tough islander mother who’s always been distant, a wild-child sister in jail and a withdrawn teenage niece as eager to ditch the island as Nora once was, Nora has her work cut out for her if she’s going to take what might be her last chance to mend the family. Balancing loss and opportunity, dark events from her past with hope for the future, Nora will discover that tackling old pain makes room for promise…and the chance to begin again.

Review:
I always know that going into a Kristan Higgins book that I’ll swoon, fall in love, and ultimately learn a thing or two. Don’t ask me why, it just happens that way. I thought ‘Now That You Mention It’ was great story about what it means to forgive, the importance of family, and learning to love again. Nora knows a two or thing about running away and never looking back. After all, she left high school early in order to escape all the hatred directed at her for something that was literally out of her control. But she got blamed anyway! It made me hurt for her and the people that did care for her, behind.

Fifteen years later, Nora is living a successful life as a doctor and is also in a relationship with a seemingly “perfect” man. Looks can be deceiving. Single and broken from a car accident—Nora decides to go to her hometown, the one that she left behind so many years ago. Everyone is quite kind to her until they realize who she is. Then go the catty looks and attitudes. Nora looks much more different than she did in high school, DJ that’s why no one notices who she is at first. At her mothers home is her teenage niece, Poe. I liked Poe the most because she had so much potential and the more I read about her, the more I wanted to know her story.

Nora ends up extending her stay in the tiny Maine town and of course ends up running into the very people that she never thought she’d ever see again. I feel like the book has a bit of a more somber feel to it than normal. There were many times where I read a page and thought “man that’s depressing”. What really made me love the story were all the characters. I think Higgins did well in making them well-rounded and likable. Overall, I think readers and mega fans will most definitely not be disappointed. The romance is done well—nothing too flashy and nothing too dull. It was perfect.
