Review:
Lady Anne is in a "crazy" house. She has done something so unspeakable that we as the readers on the outside looking in, have no idea what's going on. Especially since the opening scene is Anne thinking she has gotten kidnapped against her will.
The opening scene definitely had my attention.
We learn pretty early on what is "wrong" with Anne. Not only do we get her POV, we get the doctor, Anne's husband Lord Standbury, and various others as well.
The book in my opinion is a great look into certain types of mental illnesses and what they entail. As soon as I found out what was going in with Anne, I was able to connect with her on a personal level.
The book takes you deep into the depths of what fear is, mental illness, and the different types of emotions we go through while under the stresses of life.
I believe Roberts has had a beautiful debut novel that I think hits the spot about what it is to be a woman who just thought she was doing what she was could to save something precious to her.
The Medea Complex is one that will leave you thinking long after you've finished the book. It's a wonderful historical novel set in the Victorian ages. Roberts I know put a lot of thought and research into writing the book. I applaud her on a job well done.

British born and raised, Rachel Florence Roberts is a registered nurse, fiancée and mother of one based in Malta, EU. The Medea Complex was written shortly after the birth of her son, and took almost two years to complete. She suffered with postnatal depression in a country that did not understand her, and was henceforth the inspiration behind the novel. The Medea Complex will make anyone who has ever thought, lived, laughed, and loved, question the importance of those and everything around them.
