Cover Reveal:
Sins of Sevin by Penelope Ward!!!

Title: Sins of Sevin
Author: Penelope Ward
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: September 21st, 2015

Synopsis:

From the New York Times bestselling author of Stepbrother Dearest, comes a new forbidden STANDALONE romance.

What happens when the one you want is the only one you can’t have?

My name is Sevin.

Homeschooled and sheltered by my ultra-religious family, I was always taught that lust was a sin.

Elle was the girl who’d been carefully chosen for me.

After a long-distance courtship, I’d be moving into her family’s guesthouse so that we could get to know each other in the months before the wedding.

Boundaries were set: no inappropriate touching, no kissing, no sex before marriage.

I’d accepted those rules and my fate.

Until I met the one I wanted to sin with.

That was when restraint became a problem ... especially since the one wasn’t Elle.

It was her sister, Evangeline.

You know what they say about best laid plans.

My name is Sevin, and I have sinned.

Told in alternating points of view, Sins of Sevin is a full-length standalone novel. Contains graphic sexual content and harsh language. Only appropriate for adult readers age 18+.

Review- FINDING PERFECT by Kendra C. Highley

Publisher: Entangled Crush
Pub. Date: September 14, 2015
Genre: YA Contemporary
Source: E-Arc
Rating: 3 Stars

Blurb:
How far will you go for perfection?

For “Perfect Paige” Westfield, today is “D” Day. As in, she just got one on her calculus test. With her dreams of Stanford, her reputation, and her parents’ expectations at stake, Paige needs to find a way to save face before everything she’s worked for goes up in flames.

Ben Franklin (yes, he’s related) is from the wrong side of town, with the wrong clothes and the wrong kind of life. He also knows an opportunity when he sees one, and he’ll be happy to tutor Paige—if she makes him into the kind of guy her best friend, the hottest girl in school, will date.

It’s the perfect arrangement. And Paige is determined not even the inconvenient—and utterly imperfect—attraction simmering between her and Ben will ruin it…

Review:
Hm. I'm at a crossroads here... Fifty-six percent into the book and I'm still deciding if I like it. Okay, wrong choice of words. I do like it and that's why I keep reading it. But some things just truly irk me. The hero of the story, Ben, kind of acts like a high school girl. Instead of the boy he is supposed to be. He's smart and hardworking; though he is obsessed with popularity and a girl who doesn't even know who he is. When goody two-shoe Paige stumbles into his life, he's found the perfect opportunity to get her to introduce him to Zoey; the girl he's hell bent on being with and Paige's best friend.

Do you see where this is going? Paige is feeling so much pressure trying to appease her parents. They have her whole life planned for her. She'll go to Stanford, then go to med-school, and then eventually she'll take over her dad's practice. It isn't going to happen is she ends up flunking calculus. So when she 'meets' Ben, she's found the perfect opportunity - he'll tutor her if she helps him snag Zoey's attention. Here's the thing, Paige thinks he's better suited for her. I don't disagree with her there. But Paige is also one that keeps her promises. Meaning she'll fix the boy she secretly likes up with her best friends. Even if it slowly kills her inside.

Sounds good, right? It is. Like I said before, I keep reading it and obviously it means I like it
somewhat. If I were to really be annoyed and hated it, I would have given up by now. What bugs me
is that they both know what they want and instead of talking it out, they're acting like they know what the other is thinking. Such as Paige couldn't possibly like Ben or Ben couldn't possibly like Paige when he has a girl like Zoey vying for his attention. And as I've mentioned before, Ben acts like a girl when Zoey touches him or when she asks him out. Bleh, get a grip dude!

Alright, let me get back to the story!

"I remember how hard all this stuff is—and guys always try to figure out girls without actually talking to them, which usually backfires and ends up with you being screamed at in the senior hallway. So, text her. Before Monday.” This is q direct quote from the story. This is what I'm talking about! Communication, people. It's that freaking easy.

Finished the last half of the book. The verdict is...I freaken loved it! The ending was so much better than I had expected. I ended up loving two side characters: Paige's dad and Zoey. Zoey is awesome and I'm hoping to see her book come out. Hint hint. What can I say without giving anything away? This was light-hearted, fun, and it totally took my by surprise. Especially with the way the beginning started.

There were some laugh out loud moments, swoon-worthy moments, and moments that made me sigh out loud. Yes, I'm such a hopeless romantic. I can't help it. Overall, it's no secret that I recommend you read Finding Perfect. We all need to realize that life is too damn short to be unhappy; be yourself and do what YOU want to do and not what you think everyone else wants you to do. That was the message I was left with after reading the book. Do you. Do what makes you happy.

Excerpt:

“Corbee!” The little blonde beauty pokes me in my side, bringing me out of my daydream.

“You want to come play with me?”

Sitting up, I reach over and bring her close to my face. I tickle her, and she squeals and giggles. It’s the best fucking sound my ears have ever heard.

“Sure, Ash. Just let me go grab a shirt, and I will come play outside with you and your mom.”

“Yay!!” She squeals jumping up and down next to me. “Huwwy up, Corbee, let go!!”

I grab a shirt off my bed and throw it on over my head. I grab the bubbles I bought just the other day, but the weather hasn’t been nice enough for it until today. I walk outside and watch the girls lying in the grass just outside the sliding glass door. I open the bubbles as I walk, spilling some on the way, trying to be quiet, so I can blow bubbles over them as they lie there looking up into the sky.

“That one looks like a kitty cat, Mommy,”

Ashlynn says while pointing at the clouds in the sky.

“It sure does, baby,” Kennedy says.

I take the little wand, pull it out and blow. Bubbles fly everywhere over them. Ashlynn starts giggling with excitement. Kennedy looks over her head in my direction and smiles.

“Good touch there, playboy!” Kennedy says.

I laugh. “Thanks, I thought she’d like bubbles.”

“You thought right,” Kennedy says.

Excerpt
From Chapter One

Running along the edge of the rooftop, Allyssa kept an eye on the man below. He was three blocks ahead of her as he sprinted down the street, clutching a bag of coins. Allyssa jumped the two-foot gap to the adjacent rooftop, not wanting to lose sight of the thief. He slowed and turned a corner into an alleyway. With any luck, he’d hide there and she could catch him by surprise.
Allyssa couldn’t believe she was the one running on rooftops after him. Grevik had insisted only she could do such a thing because she was smaller, lighter, and more agile. She suspected her friend was just too much of a pansy to do it himself.
There was one more building to go. Unfortunately, the next one was much further away. If she had to guess, it was a good eight to ten feet. Keeping her breathing steady, she steeled her resolve and ran a bit quicker. She pumped her legs faster and faster, the edge of the rooftop rapidly approaching. Twenty feet to go. Why did she agree to this? Focus, she scolded herself. Now was not the time to think about it. Ten feet to go. Here goes nothing.

Excerpt
While trying to gather my senses, one of the bags slides from my arms and crashes against the concrete, causing both bottles of wine to shatter, and the dark liquid to spread into a puddle.

“Shit! Real smooth, Izzie.” Bending down to collect the glass, my face flushes with embarrassment. The stranger crouches next to me, his long legs folding in a way I wouldn’t have thought possible for such a tall man. On our knees, gathering glass, we’re the same height.

“Careful.” His voice is warm and thick, laced with a Northern accent. Somehow he makes the simple word sound like music.

Review- NIGHTWISE by R.S. Belcher

Publisher: Tor Books
Pub. Date: August 18, 2015
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Source: E-ARC
Rating: 3 Stars

Blurb:
The acclaimed author of The Six-Gun Tarot and The Shotgun Arcana launches a gritty new urban fantasy series set in today’s seedy occult underworld

In the more shadowy corners of the world, frequented by angels and demons and everything in-between, Laytham Ballard is a legend. It’s said he raised the dead at the age of ten, stole the Philosopher’s Stone in Vegas back in 1999, and survived the bloodsucking kiss of the Mosquito Queen. Wise in the hidden ways of the night, he’s also a cynical bastard who stopped thinking of himself as the good guy a long time ago.

Now a promise to a dying friend has Ballard on the trail of an escaped Serbian war criminal with friends in both high and low places—and a sinister history of blood sacrifices. Ballard is hell-bent on making Dusan Slorzack pay for his numerous atrocities, but Slorzack seems to have literally dropped off the face of the Earth, beyond the reach of his enemies, the Illuminati, and maybe even the Devil himself. To find Slorzack, Ballard must follow a winding, treacherous path that stretches from Wall Street and Washington, D.C. to backwoods hollows and truckstops, while risking what’s left of his very soul . . . .

Review-
I have no idea what I just read. Nightwise, from the outside looking in, looked just like the perfect urban fantasy read for me. But I quickly realized that it wasn't exactly my cup of tea. I had a hard time connecting with the main character, Laytham Ballard. The world was also one I had a hard time picturing and getting into. I do know that the world the author did create was both dark and full of monsters. He included himself in that batch of monsters...

The book by no means is bad. I think for me, I'm not completely the target audience and for that I'm sorry. I should have tried to research the book a bit more but after reading the synopsis, it intrigued me. Laytham is paying off a debt to his dying friend to help seek vengeance over the friend's wife. The man in question is said to be part of the Illuminati, meaning it's going to be hella crazy trying to catch him. There's tons of action as Ballard races to find answers.

Sounds good, right? I feel like beating myself over the head with a hammer because how could I not like this more than I did? I love books about antiheros; and Laytham is most certainly an antihero. If
you're looking for any type of romance, this is not your book. I repeat this is not for you! This is pure
urban fantasy with a whole lot of thriller aspects. Actually, the whole book could be one big thriller. Another reason to wonder why I couldn't connect. Overall, even though it wasn't my type of book, I would recommend this to readers that have an itch for thrilling story told by a brilliant author.
