Blog Tour Review feat Giveaway-Louder Than Words by Iris St.Clair

Louder Than Words
Release Date: 09/16/14
Swoon Romance

Synopsis-
Disappointment has been on speed dial in Ellen Grayson's life lately. Her dad died, her mom numbs the grief with drugs and alcohol, and her so-called friends have slowly abandoned her.

Trusting a popular teacher with her troubles should have been safe and should NOT have led to an unwelcome seduction attempt that made her desperate to escape the final moments of Junior year. Lesson learned. Best to keep all the sordid details to herself and trust no one.

Enter Rex Jacobi, a cocky boy, recently transplanted from New York City and fellow summer camp employee. Though his quick wit and confidence draws her in, she can't let him get too close. And summer is just long enough and hot enough to keep a boy like that at arm's length.

But by the time Rex's charm wears down her resistance, it's too late. He's put Ellen on the "just friends" shelf and has shifted his romantic attentions to the impossibly annoying and perky anti-Ellen. Even worse, the teacher who tried to get her to sleep with him is still at it, preying on other girls while Ellen struggles to come to terms with what happened.

With her ability to trust as shaky as a chastity vow on prom night, Ellen must decide if she has enough remaining courage to speak up about the well-liked teacher and risk retribution, tell Rex how she really feels about him and risk heartbreak, or hold all her secrets inside. After all, it's the only safe place she knows when the only thing louder than words is the fear of being rejected.

Review:
Louder than Words is a book that has definitely stuck with me well after reading it. I found it a bit sad yet quirky in its own rights.

We have Ellen who's family has fallen apart after her father was killed in a drunk driving accident. Resulting in her own mother turning to alcohol and drugs to cope with the pain while Robbie, Ellen's older brother, takes custody of his sister.

We learn pretty early on what Ellen has to deal with when she trusts someone that never deserved that trust in the first place. He took advantage and now Ellen is left with a terrible secret.

Once summer starts, we meet Rex, and both him and Ellen become close friends. Rex knows something is up with Ellen but she keeps him at arms length.

It isn't until Ellen catches the teacher in a certain position that she decides to do a courageous thing and speak up. But in doing so, she becomes the school pariah.

I think 'Louder than Words' deals with some major issues in a tasteful way. I was able to relate with characters and I felt for the things they had to endure. Ellen is a strong character and i applause her for doing something so scary, such as standing up for yourself when you really don't have many people backing you up.

Overall, the book is a quick read and j recommend to those that enjoy watching characters overcome great trials in their life.

About the Author
Iris St. Clair is the pen name for a long-suffering cubicle worker by day, a Walter Mitty-like dreamer by night. (Her alter ego Tatiana Ivanadance also choreographs gravity-defying routines in those fantasies, but that's another bio.)
No matter what genre she writes, she prefers witty, insecure heroines and kind, persistent heroes able to break through to the gooey heart inside.
In high school she was voted most likely to win at Monopoly and Clue, but least likely to throw a ball anywhere near a target. Thank goodness writing requires less hand-eye coordination, punctuation errors notwithstanding.

Iris believes in the two-year "fish or cut bait" dating rule and has a 20+ year marriage and two teenaged sons as proof of concept. She lives, writes, dreams and dances in the rainy Portland, OR area.

With the Father Review feat Giveaway: With the Father by Jenni Moen

We're celebrating the release of With the Father by Jenni Moen! Check out the excerpt below and don't miss the giveaway!

TitleWith the Father
Author: Jenni Moen
Age: Adult
Genre: Dark Contemporary Romance
Scheduled to release: Fall 2014
Goodreads

Blurb:
I had a choice, and I chose wrong.

I thought I lost everything. But when the smoke finally cleared, I discovered that I wasn’t alone.

Father Sullivan was a force – a living and breathing force, a forbidden desire I couldn’t resist. I didn’t want to resist.  But I wasn’t the only one who wanted him, and by all accounts neither of us should have him.

I had decisions to make, secrets to uncover. Both would tear my heart, my life, and what was left of
my family apart.

I wasn’t going to take any chances this time around. If I’d learned one thing during my life, it’s that death is the only certainty. It’s a matter of when, not if.  For every action, there is a reaction. For every choice, a consequence.

If I hadn’t chosen to live again, I would have never known what life could be like …

With the Father.

Review:
This review is going to be short and vague. Not because I didn't love it but quite the opposite. Words cannot express what I felt while reading this beautiful and complex story about love, loss, betrayal, and what it means to truly want something you never thought you could have.

When I was about 30% into the book I texted a blogger buddy and told her that this was not at all what we pictured when we first signed up for review. I went on to tell her that it was depressing as hell. Even though it was depressing, I still couldn't stop myself from reading because the writing kept me engaged. There are so many things going on and I wanted to know what happened. I wanted to know more.

But what I thought I knew, I well and truly didn't know jack crap. And With the Father proved that. While you're reading, you also may think you know the story but I must stress to you, you know nothing! Are you confused? Good! That's exactly where I want you.

When going into this forbidden love story, please keep an open mind. I promise you it's so worth it. At the end, well don't say I didn't warn you ;)

~Excerpt~
“It looks like Princess Aurora found her soul mate. Who am I to stand in between them?”

“Do you believe that?” he asked, his voice solemn.

“What?”

“In soul mates.” He cocked his head to the side and looked genuinely interested in my answer.

Of course, I believed in ‘the one.’ I also believed that I’d already lost him. “I believe that there’s one special person that is the perfect fit, and that it’s no coincidence when we find them. You?”

“Certainly, some are better suited for each other than others,” he said, nodding to the dogs sitting side-by-side at our feet. “But I don’t believe in ‘the one.’” He leaned against the trunk of my car and eyed me as if he thought I was made of glass and his words would shatter me. He was right to wonder.

Jonathan had been my soul mate. We’d been very young when we’d met – just nineteen. Yet, I’d known immediately that he was it for me, that he was the one. In fact, I’d called my mother the next day and told her that I’d met the guy I was going to marry. There had never been anyone else and he’d felt the same way. If that wasn’t the definition of soul mates, I didn’t know what was.

Father Paul seemed to sense my feelings on the subject but barged ahead anyway. “Have you ever wondered where it comes from … the idea of there being just ‘one’ perfect counterpart for every person?”

“Walt Disney?” I asked, pointing at Princess Aurora.

He shook his head. “Actually, it originated from the Greek philosophy of Plato who believed that man and woman are made of one body and separated by the gods, forced to spend their lives searching for each other so that they can be complete.” He was silent for a moment before continuing, “Obviously that goes against what I believe.”

“Each of us is a complete person all on our own. You are complete person on your own, Grace. That was true six months ago, and it’s true today. You may not feel like it, but even without him, you are complete.”

I scuffed the toe of my shoe in the dirt while I considered his words, noticing that he’d purposefully framed his argument without mentioning God.

Father Paul was walking a fine line with me and he knew it. He was being very careful not to say something that he knew would push me away; yet, he’d still managed to get his message across.

He flipped his ball cap around so that it sat backwards on his head. The act had the dual effect of revealing his face – and the utter sincerity etched across it – and returning the Greek mythology-spewing priest beside me to a mere mortal man again.

I crumbled just a bit.

His mouth turned down as he squinted into the sun. “Of course, I’ve never been in love like you have.”

Review-
Calling all historical fiction, paranormal romance, and steampunk fans! If you haven't started this series yet, what are you waiting for? It has everything from a great plot line, lovely characters, sexual tension to die for, and more sexual tension. It's one of the types of books where you're more than satisfied in the end. Hint, hint.

Evernight is the fifth book in the Darkest London series that follows an array of characters. Each book is a different couple and different storylines. But everything always adds up in the end.

Holly Evernight and Will Thorne are probably my favorite couple to have read about so far. Their story is a bit different and I liked how for a short time, Thorne seemed to hate Holly and of course he tried to kill her. I don't know about you, but that just makes all that yummy tension so much better.

I'm sure for those of you that have read all the books know that absolutely horrific circumstances that both Holly and Will had to endure. If you haven't, well you won't hear about what it was from me. Just that this book starts a year after the initial proceedings from the other book.

Holly is an elemental, along with being an inventor. In fact, she can control metal. Which just so happens to be where Mr.Thorne comes in. See, he has a clockwork heart and is basically a metal man. Hence, Holly being able to control him. And the sole reason for Will wanting to get revenge on her, since she played a part in making him the way he is. She's his only saving grace if you will, because when she touches him, all his pain and suffering go away. He's definitely put at her mercy.

But.

Both Evernight and Thorne strike up a deal with each other. Holly will be Will's personal body relief, while Thorne will be Holly's personal protector from all the bad people who want her dead.

Hm, I wonder how this will all work out?

See, where this is going? How can you not want to read it? There's so much going on that had definitely kept me turning page after page. I believe each book gets better and better and I'll be counting down the days until the sixth book comes out. And I am even more excited about the next couple!!

Overall, I give Evernight four stars for originality and for being such a great book to take my mind off boring and trivial things. If you're looking for a new series to dive into, now would be the time to start the Darkest London series.

Blog Tour feat Giveaway- Sinful Rewards 3 by Cynthia Sax

Synopsis:
Bee Carter's carefully constructed world is tumbling down around her designer knockoff heels. Pleasing others isn't working for this small-town fashionista. Bee decides to throw caution to the Chicago wind for one night and release her inner bad girl, accepting a sexy challenge from an unknown texter, exploring the backseat of a limousine with gorgeous billionaire Nicolas, and entering a rough, tough biker bar with the mysterious Hawke.
Two hot men, one wicked night. When this good girl goes wild, who will make her erotic dreams come true—the enigmatic billionaire or the tattooed bad boy?

Review:

Sinful Rewards 3 is part of a serial of novellas involving Bee, Nicholas, Hawke, and gang. I would suggest reading the first two in the series before you get into this one, one being, you'll miss out on some key points. SR3 had me at the edge of my seat and going back and forth between the sexy Hawke and the equally sexy Nicholas. I really do like both of them. But... I kind of, sort of favor one in particular.

And I know which one I think Bee should be with as well but after the end of the book... Well maybe you just need to go ahead and read it for yourself! It's hard to explain without spoiling things.

So, who does Bee ultimately choose? Which one is better for her? Or which one does she need

My mind was pretty much reeling throughout the pages and pages of pure lust and sexy men. There's not much I can tell you without giving too much away. So despite whatever "team" you are on, well you're in for such a treat with both men. Mmmm. Please make sure you try this series out because it's HOT! Can't you tell from that gorgeously erotic cover?

Excerpt:
"A very large man separates from the pack, and my words fade. He's backlit, his face and form in darkness, but I'd recognize that blunt buzz cut, square chin, broad shoulders, and confident swagger anywhere.

"Hawke," I whisper, my toes wiggling in the practical flats I was forced to wear. My lack of heels makes him appear even larger, more dominant and manly.

"Sweetheart." He cups my chin with his rough fingers and tilts my face upward. Our gazes meet and hold, time stopping, the noise and lights fading. There's only the two of us.

I'll have sex with this mountain of a man tonight. Decades-entrenched fear battles newly formed desire. The temptation to turn, to run from him, from this fate, increases with each heartbeat. I know of only one way to quiet my mind, to ensure passion wins. "Kiss me," I whisper.

Hawke doesn't hesitate. He swoops down and claims my lips, the strength of his embrace stealing my breath. I gasp. He surges inside me, his tongue tangling, tumbling with mine. He tastes of whiskey and chocolate, a burning sweetness I could quickly become addicted to.

My knees tremble, and he straps his arms around my body, holding me upright, pressing me to him. I forget everything, my doubts, our audience, my friend Cyndi, losing myself in him, in the rasp of his stubble-covered chin against my skin, the stroke of his tongue along mine, the hardness of his body.

Hawke lifts me higher, fitting me into his fit form. My curves flatten against his muscle. My feet dangle above the pavement. Never have I felt this delicate, this cherished.

I grip his shoulders, clinging to him, relishing his strength and size. This is right, this kiss, this night, this man. I'll give him everything, expecting only pleasure in return, forgoing forever for one evening.

A man whistles, breaking the spell. Other men join him, hooting and hollering, their unruly behavior heating my cheeks. Hawke releases my lips and pushes my face into his cotton-covered chest, bending over my smaller form as though to shield me from them.

"I'm glad you came," he murmurs, his voice low and deep and arousing. I wiggle closer to him, my nipples pressing against the red silk of my corset. He strokes my loose-flowing hair, his big hands gentle, almost reverent.

"I almost didn't," I share quietly, not wanting anyone else to hear us. "

EXCERPT

"Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned."
I turn in my chair and give Vera a curious look. Yet another English saying that I don't know.

"I'm afraid I don't understand."   She gives me a soft but tired smile and sits down on the arm rest. I immediately wrap my arm around her waist and pull her down into my lap, where she comes to a rest with a giggle, her hair obscuring the impish smile on her face.

No matter where she is, I can never stop touching her and now more than ever I need her to relax, to feel safe, to know I'm going to get us out of this.

"Explain," I demand. "Or I will punish you with kisses."   She raises her brow. "Followed by punishment by penis?"   I shrug. "That can be arranged. Now, tell me my Estrella."

She sighs and buries her lips into my neck. I can't help the small moan that escapes from me, nor my hardness building beneath her plump, round ass. I close my eyes and fight the urge to pick her up and take her to the bedroom, the only other way I know how to make her feel safe and sated, the only way I know how to escape.

"Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned," she says against my throat, "is a saying. I don't know where it's from but it means, well, nothing is scarier than a pissed off bitch." She pauses, sucking in her breath and I know she fears she's said the wrong thing. "Sorry," she quickly adds and I feel her body tense up beneath my fingers.

"I didn't mean that Isabel is a bitch."   She is still so skittish over her words, the way she blurts things out, but it's one of the reasons why I love her. I cup the back of her head with my hand and let the softness of her hair sink over me.

"I know you didn't," I assure her.

"And, well, she is being a bitch."

"Can you blame her though?" she asks, her voice rising a pitch and when she pulls away from me, her eyes are wet. It breaks my heart. I'm getting tired of my heart breaking and I know that this isn't going to change anytime soon. Every day there is another weight on us, another crack appears.

"No," I tell her honestly. "I cannot blame her."   A silence lapses over us, heavy like a wool cloak. It does this sometimes. What we've done, it coats us.   Finally she clears her throat.

"She's going to hurt for a long time," she says. "She's going to be angry. This isn't going away. I thought everything was behind us now, that she'd move on. You've been divorced for a year, if she's still this mad a year out..."

"She is mad because I am going back to Atletico," I tell her. "She is mad because of the paparazzi, the way they are hounding us again. She is mad because she feels she is being made to look like a fool. If I had just stayed with my head down, she wouldn't be doing this."

"But you can't live your life in fear, Mateo," she tells me.   I smile at her and brush her sunset hair from her face. "And neither can you."

She settles back against my body, sinks, conforms, melds. She is second skin. She is a part of myself I can't bear to separate from. I pray I never have to. I pray we can survive whatever is coming our way.   And I can feel it coming, that tension, that storm rolling in the weeks and days.

I pick her up in my arms and for all her pillowy curves, she weighs nothing more than a feather. I take her down the hall to the bedroom, throw her on the bed.

She glows in the afternoon sun that streams in through our window and it isn't long before we are both naked and I am climbing over her, pinning her arms above her head and drinking in her body like the most beautiful, decadent wine.   I will devour her until all of this is gone.

I will consume her until we are all that's left.   I push inside her and let my hunger take over.

Love, in English Synopsis:

He’s thirty-eight. I’m twenty-three.He speaks Spanish. I speak English.He lives in Spain. I live in Canada.

He dresses in thousand-dollar suits. I’m covered in tattoos. He’s married and has a five-year old daughter. I’m single and can’t commit to anyone or anything. Until now.

Because when they say you can’t choose who you fall in love with, boy ain’t that the f*#king truth. ***

To a restless dreamer like Vera Miles, it sounded like the experience of a lifetime.

Instead of spending her summer interning for her astronomy major, she would fly to Spain where she’d spend a few weeks teaching conversational English to businessmen and women, all while enjoying free room and board at an isolated resort.

But while Vera expected to get a tan, meet new people and stuff herself with wine and paella, she never expected to fall in love.

Mateo Casalles is unlike anyone Vera has ever known, let alone anyone she’s usually attracted to. While Vera is a pierced and tatted free spirit with a love for music and freedom, Mateo is a successful businessman from Madrid, all sharp suits and cocky Latino charm.

Yet, as the weeks go on, the two grow increasingly close and their relationship changes from purely platonic to something…more. Something that makes Vera feel alive for the first time. Something that can never, ever be. Or so she thinks.

Excerpt:

Reagan’s time with Ian was never long enough. Not really. Not when she was still used to having him in her life every day – man she’d really taken that for granted, hadn’t she? But her moments with him now were sweeter, more complete. And the remainder of the weekend had passed without any other dramatic events. It would hold her over until the next time they could steal some time together. At least, she hoped it would.
But now it was over. And she was back to her regular schedule. Except this week was a little different. This week she’d throw her new internship into the mix and learn just how good of a juggler she could be – her class schedule, new assignments, friendships, her relationship, the internship and anything else that the universe cared to throw at her. It was no joke, that was for sure, and Reagan was beginning to feel all of the pressures that the outside world held for her once she graduated. But she could manage it, she remind herself as she changed clothes for her new role. She didn’t have any other choice but to make it all work somehow.
After having picked up a few new outfits to compliment her new important role – using some of the money she’d kept from the club, of course - Petra had helped her coordinate the rest of her wardrobe to expand her options. And the result was at least a couple weeks worth of choices that had left her feeling confident, appropriate, and ready to impress. Every little detail counted, and her poise when she stepped through the large glass doors that first day spoke volumes toward her ambitions. Reagan had set herself up to succeed in every possible way.
Having no real instruction with which to work from on how to approach her first day, she strode up to the receptionist, who this time greeted her with a friendly smile. Success already, she thought to herself, and her smile widened that much more. “Welcome back Reagan.” The woman began. “You’re all going to be starting in the conference room today. Around that corner and through the second door.”
“All?” Reagan had known she wasn’t the only intern, but the phrase made it seem like there was an army in attendance, and the thought sent a little shiver of nerves up her spine.
“There’s three of you. You have a quick orientation together, then it’s all smooth sailing from there.”
Reagan nodded as she contemplated this answer. Nothing was ever exactly smooth sailing when you threw a bunch of competitive girls together and told them to battle it out to impress the new boss. But one could always hope for the best...
The heels she’d chosen tapped lightly as she clipped down the slick hall and toward the door marked, Conference, #2. She noticed her hand trembling as she lifted it to turn the handle. Taking a deep breath, she tried to let go of all her anxious energy – just be yourself, she lectured – then she forced a huge smile over her face.
But when she stepped through the door, her face immediately fell. All the calm composure she’d just summoned drained from her body and left her face as white as the stark walls. The shaking returned, only it wasn’t from nerves now. Her body was riddled with anger, contempt and yes, even a little humor as she considered the universe’s latest irony.
Because the first person to turn around when she stepped into the room was Isabella. The Isabella. The Isabella who had stolen her boyfriend. Who had tried to seduce Ian. And had otherwise made her existence miserable. The Isabella who had ruined spring break, nearly ruined Petra’s party, and had caused Reagan to question almost everything she knew about people. That Isabella was nearly three feet away from her, dressed in a fitted color-block dress she’d probably picked up at Bebe just to show off her flawless figure. Apparently, whatever dislike Reagan had for her was a mutual feeling, since she was smirking in recognition as she gave Reagan a long, lingering, stare meant to intimidate and demean without saying a single word.

AUTHOR BIO
Renee’ Novelle is Preceded by a long line of published family members, including Pulitzer Prize nominated author and Poet Laureate of Kentucky Jesse Stuart.

As a child, Novelle was already gaining recognition for several of her works, and in her formative years, she continued this trend by earning local awards for her short stories and poems.

Inspired to cultivate her talent, Novelle pursued freelance journalism and has found placement of 75 of her pieces in both online and print publications since 2008. Additionally, she has written multiple screenplays, and contributed her savvy, effective writing style to many non-profit and for profit organizations. She launched several blogs over the years, which garnered international attention.

In 2013, Novelle returned to her first love – fiction. She writes psychological and paranormal thrillers, as well as contemporary fiction and new adult fiction. For a complete schedule of upcoming releases, please visit www.RSNovelle.com

Though she received her Bachelor’s of Science in Communication, Summa Cum Laude, she considers herself a constant student of the written word. She’s an avid reader, an enthusiastic quote poster, and rarely takes “no” as a final answer. She has an unhealthy obsession for theater, dance, music and art, and strongly believes that wine is simultaneously the beginning of, and resolution to, all of life’s problems. She believes in following dreams, and that in the end, you always end up where you're meant to be.
