Synopsis:
The New York Times and USA Today bestselling New Adult author returns with a sizzling novel of love, loss, guilt, and forgiveness.
Grey and Ben fell in love at thirteen and believed they’d be together forever. But three days before their wedding, the twenty-year-old groom-to-be suddenly died from an unknown heart condition, destroying his would-be-bride’s world. If it hadn’t been for their best friend, Jagger, Grey never would have made it through those last two years to graduation. He’s the only one who understands her pain, the only one who knows what it’s like to force yourself to keep moving when your dreams are shattered. Jagger swears he’ll always be there for her, but no one has ever been able to hold on to him. He’s not the kind of guy to settle down.
It’s true that no one has ever been able to keep Jagger—because he’s only ever belonged to Grey. While everyone else worries over Grey’s fragility, he’s the only one who sees her strength. Yet as much as he wants Grey, he knows her heart will always be with Ben. Still they can’t deny the heat that is growing between them—a passion that soon becomes too hot to handle. But admitting their feelings for each other means they’ve got to face the past. Is being together what Ben would have wanted . . . or a betrayal of his memory that will eventually destroy them both?

Review:
"No one ever said we have to move on, we just need to keep moving."

I have very mixed emotions right about now. They could change tomorrow or in an hour; but at this exact time that I'm writing this review, I'm...mad. How can I be mad when I loved the whole story? I can't truly speak freely of what made me mad because that would mean me giving a huge plot point away. But I shouldn't be surprised, it's Molly McAdams and she sure has a way of bringing out all my emotions. Good and bad.

At least, you find out in the synopsis that someone dies. (I haven't been the same since Taking Chances) So there's that. Grey's husband to be dies of a rare heart disease, leaving her broken beyond repair. She has Jagger though. Jagger is the best friend of both Grey and the fiancĂ©, Ben. For the past two years since Ben passed, Jagger has been Grey's rock. Everyone knows that he and Grey belong together. Everyone except her.

"Don't be scared. I will always take care of you, I will always put your heart before my own, and I will never push you for more than you're willing to give me."

Throughout the novel, Grey struggles with moving on without feeling the guilt of that act. And Jagger being the wonderful man that he is, helps her. He's patient, loving, and so kind hearted that it hurts. Grey's needs always came before his. There were even times I thought he was way too good for her. I'm not joking when I say Jagger is perfection. His whole reason for living was to make sure Grey was happy.

This isn't your typical best friends to lover romance; it's so much more. Because the girl not only had one best friend in love with her, she had two. As if I haven't ready put Jagger on pedestal, well, he never told Grey he was in love with her. And she never would have found out if it weren't for the fact that she kind of stumbled into it.

Now comes the part where my emotions go all over the place. In the beginning, even after already knowing what was going to happen, I still found myself saying, "ohhhh no, Molly, not again!!". I kid you not. Of course tears came to my eyes and didn't really stop. For the next several chapters I was in a state of needing something happy and possibly uplifting. (Jagger=Happy, but still I needed more happy) THEN, I started getting angry because a certain somebody didn't feel it was right for Grey too move on so quickly. Um, excuse me? It's been two years.

"But I--I can't. I can't stop. I want you, and I want you forever."

It was that exact moment that I just knew what the outcome would be. Yet, I got to the end and I was partly right but still pretty much very wrong. Sounds very confusing but I promise once you read the book you'll understand my rambling. Anyways, so back to being angry and maybe a little disappointed. And just to clarify, I'm not angry or disappointed in the writing or the story. It’s more like I'm heartbroken with the character(s).

There's a scene in the book that absolutely gutted me and it's like my heart is shattered more than the main character. I understand why she feels the way she does and I admire her for that, but I couldn't be the way she is about the situation. This is why earlier I said I shouldn't be at all surprised with McAdams, her stories don't take the traditional route of HEA. Her characters always have to earn their happiness in some kind of way.

But I still can't help but feel cheated at what happened. I guess that's what makes a good writer. Someone that can truly pull out all your emotions and just lay them out on the table.

Letting Go tells the heartbreaking story of accepting the very thing you try so hard not to do; letting go. Readers will fall in love with the raw honesty of McAdams words and have them thinking well after the last page has been turned.

"I'm always moving,Grey. I'm just waiting on you to move with me."

About the Author:
Molly McAdams grew up in California but now lives in the oh-so-amazing state of Texas with her husband and furry daughter. Her hobbies include hiking, snowboarding, traveling and long walks on the beach, which roughly translates to being a homebody with her hubby and dishing out movie quotes. When she's not at work, she can be found hiding out in her bedroom surrounded by her laptop, cell, Kindle and fighting over the TV remote. She has a weakness for crude-humored movies, fried pickles and loves curling up in a fluffy comforter during a thunderstorm...or under one in a bathtub if there are tornados. That way she can pretend they aren't really happening.
