Synopsis:

Branson Wellington? The name, my name, is usually followed by arrogant prick or self-serving bastard, and I can't say I haven't earned those titles. It's true. I'm not the good guy. I'm not the boy next door. I'm definitely not your Prince fucking Charming. Not even close.

And I never wanted to be. Until her. The day I pulled her from the wreckage was the day that my life changed.

Who would have thought that one little lie had the power to throw two lives off course?

Love has never been in the cards for me, but now that she’s here, I have no idea how I’m ever going to let her go. Even if I don’t deserve her.

Because like I said, I’m a self-serving bastard and some things never change.

Excerpt:

“There are some questions I need to ask you, but we can do that in a little bit. Until then, is there anyone you want us to call? Someone on scene was able to find your purse, which fortunately hadn’t been destroyed in the blast. There was no emergency contact information in your purse, however, and you’ve only been out of surgery for a couple of hours. We haven’t been able to track anyone down as of yet.”

The last thing I want is Victoria and William showing up here, especially with Benjamin in tow. Not wanting to worry anyone, I decide I’ll call Alyssa once things calm down. “No, I’m not from around here, and the last thing I want to do is worry my family. When I’m feeling a little more rested, I’ll give them a call.”

The nurse gives me an understanding smile, and I sigh with relief that she’s not going to push me on this. At least not yet. “Okay, Ms. Covington. I understand completely. I’ll just set your purse here, and if you feel up to it, your cell is still inside. Now, I need to answer this page, but if you need anything in the meantime, don’t hesitate to hit the nurses’ call button. You may feel a little drowsy from the pain medication, so for now, try to get some rest.”

I watch as she leaves the room before I rest my head on my pillow, replaying the events of the past twenty-four hours. What should’ve been the prelude to one of the best days of my life has turned into a nightmare. Instead of wearing a white wedding dress, I’m stuck in a hospital gown. And even now, my fiancé—or, well, former fiancé—is the last man on my mind. No, instead, I’m thinking about the beautiful man who saved my life. Who once told me that he was beyond saving.

The night I met Branson Wellington, he was a mess. A drunken, pitiful, angry mess. This evening, I saw no signs of that man. I saw confidence. I saw arrogance. I saw determination. But I also saw the pain, the anger, the frustration. That broken man is still in there no matter what strides he’s made since that night eight months ago. Tonight, he saved me. And even though he once said that it’s impossible, I’m making it my mission to save him, too.

Life can be messy,
And love can be too.

Most people say that it’s not important where you’re going, but instead, how you get there.

Unfortunately for me, the journey to love was absolutely agonizing. Love and Hate wrestled with my life day after day, year after year, and the only way to stop it was to let one of them win.

Which one?

I fought to love harder. But I loathe my love story.

My Review:
"For most of us, sadness is only a part of a tunnel-dark and desolate but indisputably finite."
Excuse me while I go cry and cry on my bed. Happy tears, sad tears, just tears of all emotions. This was beautiful! It broke my heart, it healed it, it broke it again...

That's exactly how I felt right after I finished the book. My goodness, I have such mad love for it. I was just cruising on Facebook like I usually do, when I saw that the author was offering up ARCs. I liked the cover and decided to review based on that. I know, I know...never judge a book by it's cover, blah, blah blah. I couldn't help it, I mean just look at it!! Anyways, I still read the synopsis and it had me even more intrigued.

Imagine my surprise when I started the book and couldn't stop. My fingers couldn't swipe at my iPad screen fast enough.

Whitney was badass. I don't know how else to describe her. She is independent and doesn't need a boy to feel complete. In fact, she knows she's not that type of girl and she never will be.

"I wasn't the type of girl who needed a man. And I never would be."

See, she doesn't need a man! And that's okay. That is until she meets Blane...

Blane was such an amazing character. His personality is charming...so charming that he pushed himself into the man-hater's life; more like barged in. That was just the type of person he was. The kind that didn't give a crap and if he wanted to be your friend, well dammit he was going to be your friend.

"Blane Hunt lived life hard and loved harder."

Whitney and Blane are best friends; they're inseparable. Until the day they weren't anymore. They became distant when a traumatic situation happens between them and their best friend, Franny. The more they don't talk, the farther and farther they go from being able to repair what was damaged.

Years later, the two former best friends, run into each other in the most unexpected places. Their reunion was quite funny and dramatic. Kinda like most of the book; it was such an emotional roller-coaster. Anyways, fate is a funny, funny thing. So are second chance type romances, I mean often can that happen?

I believe that Whitney's grandmother was the one who stole the whole show. She made me weep like a baby, laugh out loud, and re-read her words of wisdom because they were just that good. I love how close her and Whitney; the relationship is simply beautiful. Hate: A Love Story, will hit you with all the feels possible. I can't tell you how many times my heart shattered from sorrow.

"I've never been able to let you go, and I'm not gonna start now."

Overall, this is a powerful book that deserves to be read. The angst, the drama, the love, the hate, everything... Everything about the book was all that I look for in a story and more. I don't want to say anymore because this is just the type of book that you have to experience for yourself. Beautiful. I loved it so much!

"The intensity of grief may fade over time, but it never goes away."

Last Light by M. Pierce

Title: Last Light (Night Owl Trilogy Book #2)
Author: M. Pierce
Release Date: October 28, 2014
Genre: Contemporary Erotic Romance

goodreads

Synopsis:

Tensions rise, secrets grow bigger, and passions run deeper—and hotter—in Last Light, the second novel of the Night Owl Trilogy from bestselling author M. Pierce.

Matt Sky is missing. After a solo ascent of Longs Peak that left only a large blood stain, tatters of climbing clothing, and the tracks of an animal in the snow, he is presumed dead.

Hannah Catalano is guarding a secret: she knows Matt is alive. After Matt's memorial service, she lingers on the East Coast with his family, but it soon becomes clear that his brothers' motives are less than gracious. Nate Sky is bent on tracking down the author of Night Owl, a book that charts the last days of Matt's life with uncanny and scandalous accuracy, and which appeared only after his death. Seth Sky is bent on getting Hannah into his bed.

Hidden away in the woods, Matt and Hannah strive desperately to maintain their ruse and their relationship—but their web of lies only tightens as Matt struggles with the consequences of his decision, and Hannah tries to escape Nate's libel suit and fend off Seth's advances...until Hannah is put in danger, and Matt must make a life or death choice.

Excerpt:

Matt insisted on carrying me to the bathroom. I hugged his neck.

“Matt, you realize I can walk with a black eye, right?”

“I’ll be the judge of that.” He set me on the counter and I squeaked; the marble was frigid under my bare bottom. He dropped one of my bath bombs in the tub and watched it fizz and color the water purple.

Once, I managed to convince Matt to use a bath bomb with me. It was called a “sex bomb” and it was supposed to “put us in the mood” with “exciting scents” and “natural pheromones.” I grinned at the memory. As soon as Matt realized the bomb was coating his skin in sparkles, he leapt out of the tub ranting about “looking Twilighty” and “smelling like a girl.”

“What’re you grinning at?”

“You.” I smiled. “And this bath, which is such a transparent effort to avoid saying goodbye. Sweet… but transparent.”

Matt frowned and paced the small space of the bathroom. Ha! I was right. Matt planned to leave me in the tub and slip away. My poor, adorable night owl—he really had issues with goodbyes.

“No,” he mumbled. “Maybe…”

“Can I induce you to stay a little longer?” I uncrossed my legs deliberately and spread them. Matt watched. He folded his arms and tilted his head.

“How does your cheek feel?”

“They’re cold.” I grinned.

“And you say I’m bad.” He slid me off the sink and turned me. I watched our reflection through the patchy steam on the mirror. Matt—God, he was so tall, and the look on his face was arresting. He wanted me. I knew that look.

Jessica's Review:

When I first read Night Owl, I couldn't believe I had waited so long to read it. The story was hot, original and fun. Many of you remember that epilogue though; that f**cked up ending that had us groaning in defeat because it would be awhile before we got the next book.

Well, wait no more! Matthew Sky is finally back and his story is far from over. In the beginning of Last Light, we've got Matt faking his own death due to him losing his much loved privacy. But trouble hits when the sensual story of Matt and Hannah's life hits the world via the Internet. It's then getting sold on all e-book platforms by some by the name of W.Pierce.

This makes life hard for Hannah. Not only does she have to deal with the aftermath of her most private details spread out for the universe to see, she also has to deal with lying to everyone around her. Something she is not comfortable doing. Hannah loves and will do anything for Matt, even it means she has to pretend for his sake.

The writing of this story is classic M.Pierce; stunning and provocative. I was enraptured in no time at all. The pacing was a tad bit slow for my taste and there were times that things would drag, but the book was still interesting enough that I was able to press on.
We are introduced to some new characters in Last Light. Most notably, Seth, Matt's brother. He's in a band, is totally hot, kind of a creeper, oh and he hits on Hannah constantly throughout the book. You would think the dude would get the hint the first time, but I guess some men like the challenge.

The angst and drama was delicious. Some scenes may not appeal to some readers, but I personally liked them. And the sex was just as hot as ever; Matt and his filthy mouth know no bounds. I love it!

Overall, I think readers everywhere will devour this wonderful book. It's sexy as hell. Now I just have to remind myself not to dwell too much on the fact that I have to wait for the next one!

Coming Next:

Synopsis:

In the final novel of the Night Owl Trilogy from bestselling author M. Pierce, can a passion that has withstood many ordeals become a love strong enough to last a lifetime?

At twenty-nine, Matt Sky is trying to return to normal, having faked his death and come back to life. He and Hannah move to a simple house in the suburbs, and strive to grow their relationship into something durable and honest. They become more and more entangled, in the best ways possible.

At twenty-eight, Hannah finally has the life she's always wanted: she's pursuing her career as a literary agent at Granite Wing Agency, she is writing her first solo novel, and she is living with her hot, passionate lover. For the first time, Matt and Hannah are able to explore intimacy without inhibitions—without lies, secrets, or jealousy—and the results are explosive.

Still life together is not as easy as it seems. Matt is estranged from his brothers in the wake of his cruel stunt; Seth Sky, embittered by his failed pursuit of Hannah, makes a play for Hannah's sister; and the topic of Hannah's novel—her relationship with Matt and the Sky family—is driving a wedge between her and Matt. The lovers are devoted to one another, having come through many ordeals, but is their bond strong enough to last a lifetime?

Blog Tour Review feat Giveaway- Eternal (Shadow Falls: After Dark #2) by C.C. Hunter

 Publisher: St. Martin's Press
Expected Publication Date: October 28, 2014
Series: Book 2
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Source: ARC

Synopsis:
All her life, Della's secret powers have made her feel separated from her human family. Now, she's where she belongs, at Shadow Falls. With the help of her best friends Kylie and Miranda, she’ll try to prove herself in the paranormal world as an investigator—all the while trying to figure out her own heart. Should she chose Chase, a powerful vampire with whom she shares a special bond? Or Steve, the hot shapeshifter whose kisses make her weak in the knees? When a person with dark connection to her past shows up, it’ll help her decide which guy to choose–and make her question everything she knows about herself.

From bestselling author C.C. Hunter comes Eternal—a must-read for fans of the Shadow Falls series—and the sequel to Reborn.

Review:
 "We belong together now."
Della and Chase have surely embedded themselves deep within my heart. I always liked Della's character in the Shadow Falls series but everything changed once I read her POV. Her character is realistic in a way that makes you want to know more. And the more you know, the better you'll see that she's just a vulnerable girl who hides behind a mask. Chase sees passed the mask and takes her for what she is, no matter how bad she doesn't want him to.

"We're bonded. Sooner or later, you're going to have to accept that."
Eternal starts off where Reborn ended. Della is a Reborn vampire; meaning she's a lot stronger than a normal vampire. If it weren't for Chase, her survival rate would have been close to zero. The consequence for Della being saved by Chase is that she's now bonded to him. Which isn't all that great because she's finally admitted her feelings for Steve and he's practically her boyfriend. I know there's a bunch of people who are Pro-Steve but I am not one of them. Although, I like Steve a bunch. I just like Chase more; he's a better fit for Della.

But Della being Della, she's got other issues to think about. Such as being visited by another ghost whose giving her visions of a girl and boy trapped somewhere on the brink of death. Della isn't the only one receiving these visions; Chase is also experiencing them as well. Much to Della's chagrin, she has no choice but to work on the case with Chase. All she wants is to be part of the FRU and no one will stand in her way or stop her from achieving that goal. Not even Chase.

The two embark on a dangerous journey as they race to save innocent lives. Along the way they'll learn that everything is not what it seems. Lives will be put to the ultimate test, hearts will be broken, and love will be found in this epic story. The tension between the bonded peeps is high; there were several times that I re-read scenes that happened between them on account I loved them so much.

Of course, you can't forget all the beloved characters such as Kylie and Miranda. I'm actually kind of hoping that we get a story from Miranda's POV, her storyline in this one seems very interesting and has got me wanting to be inside her witchy head. The friendship between the three girls is such a positive in the book because I think every girl needs friends just like them. Every time they have their table time with their Diet Cokes, it always makes me want one. And I don't even like that drink!

There's so much mystery and jaw-dropping scenes in Eternal, that you'll not be able to stop reading until you reach the very end. I know that I'll be counting down the days where I can pick up the third book!

All Broke Down

Yowza! We are extremely excited to bring you the Release Day Launch for Cora Carmack's ALL BROKE DOWN!! ALL BROKE DOWN is a New Adult Contemporary Romance novel being published by HarperCollins, and it is the 2nd book in The Rusk University Series.

Amazon ** Barnes and Noble ** iTunes

About ALL BROKE DOWN:

In this second book in New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Cora Carmack’s New Adult, Texas-set Rusk University series, which began with All Lined Up, a young woman discovers that you can’t only fight for what you believe in . . . sometimes you have to fight for what you love.

Dylan fights for lost causes. Probably because she used to be one. Environmental issues, civil rights, corrupt corporations, and politicians—you name it, she’s probably been involved in a protest. When her latest cause lands her in jail overnight, she meets Silas Moore.

He’s in for a different kind of fighting. And though he’s arrogant and infuriating, she can’t help being fascinated with him. Yet another lost cause. Football and trouble are the only things that have ever come naturally to Silas. And it’s trouble that lands him in a cell next to do-gooder Dylan.

He’s met girls like her before—fixers, he calls them, desperate to heal the damage and make him into their ideal boyfriend. But he doesn’t think he’s broken, and he definitely doesn’t need a girlfriend trying to change him.

Until, that is, his anger issues and rash decisions threaten the only thing he really cares about, his spot on the Rusk University football team. Dylan might just be the perfect girl to help. Because Silas Moore needs some fixing after all.

ABD Teaser 1

 Excerpt:

I think I get it then. That decision I saw in her eyes back in the kitchen. That’s what this, what I’m about for her, too. I’m just another part of whatever rebellion she started earlier today. About doing what she wants, not what’s expected of her.
“We’re not talking about me, though,” she says. “So you went to meet your friend, and then what happened?”
She keeps her eyes down as she picks up the gauze and begins winding it snugly around the knuckles of one hand, and then the other.
“He said the wrong thing.”
“Which was?”
“Dylan.” Now it’s her that’s pushing too hard. I didn’t want to talk about things with my friends, and I won’t talk about them with her, either, no matter how gorgeous she is.
“I’ll guess. You were mad about what he did, and he wasn’t sorry.”
“This isn’t middle school, Pickle. He didn’t hurt my feelings. He said some shit he had no business saying, and it pissed me off. The end.”
“But you don’t think some of that anger stems from what you feel is a betrayal of your friendship?”
She finishes taping down the last of the gauze, but doesn’t let go of my hand.
“I think you’re analyzing me again. Making things more complicated than they are.”
“And I think you’re just a guy who doesn’t like to admit he has feelings.” She drags out the word, teasing me with some goofy smile on her face. I turn my hand over so I can clutch her wrist. I curlmy other bandaged hand around her waist and pull her closer.
“I feel plenty of things.”
The teasing stops. She swallows.
“I wasn’t talking about that kind of feeling.”
With her standing and me sitting, I’m eye level with her chest. I see the sharp rise and fall as she sucks in a breath. I want her in my lap again, straddling me this time.
“Doesn’t mean we can’t talk about that kind of feeling. Or experiment with it.”
“Is that Stella girl an ex?”
I cough, surprised. My throat twists uncomfortably, and it takes me a couple of solid breaths to get a hold on myself.
“Ah, no. Stella and I have never dated.”
“Have you—”
“Do you ever run out of questions?”
“Not ever.” She turns playful again, and I’m done doing this the careful way. If she wants a rebellion, I’ll be the one to give it to her. I want her against me, and I’m tired of waiting.
I pull her forward, insinuating my knees between hers, and her body naturally follows, settling across my thighs. Her lips part, but she catches herself before she gasps this time. I keep her steady with my hands at her waist and say, “I’ll make you a deal. A question for a kiss.”
Tentatively, she lays her palms against my shoulders. They rest there, her grip light and casual. She ponders my offer for a moment, and it drives me mad that she can do that while our hips are inches away from alignment.
“Okay then. Are you—”
I cut her off. “Not so fast, Dylan Brenner. I’ve already answered one question. We’ve got to settle up first.”
I wrap her braid around my hand like I’ve been waiting to do all night, and I use it to pull her head back just enough that I can crush my mouth against hers.
