Blog Tour feat Giveaway- Nabbed in New Zealand by Christine Edwards

Nabbed in New Zealand by Christine Edwards

Description:

Taking a break from her job at an art gallery in Charleston, South Carolina, Valla Denier escapes on a week-long camping tour of New Zealand with a small group of companions and two skilled guides. Valla is enchanted by the wild beauty of the South Island and Kaikoura Beach, as well as the local men. After catching the eye of a rugged, drop-dead-gorgeous man in a café, she is shocked to run into him later that evening at a karaoke bar. Setting her shyness aside, she serenades the stranger with a seductive tune. She never imagines the lyrics would be taken literally.

Later that evening, Valla is taken from her campsite and wakes up in a strange room. Her captor is the man from the bar, Brocan Judge, a six foot five wall of muscle with piercing, cobalt blue eyes. He is not responsible for her abduction; his friend has delivered Valla as a gift, and repairing the situation is not as simple as it sounds.

Valla soon learns that Judge is a Dom, intent on punishing her for her willful ways. Even more surprising is Valla’s reaction to him. When he offers her the choice to stay or leave, she must decide how far down the submissive path she is willing to travel. But trust has never been Valla’s strong suit. Will she be able to set aside her inhibitions and give in to the strong hand she has secretly craved, or will doubt trump her growing desire?

Review:
Erotica at its finest ladies and gentleman.  I'll admit that when I first started reading, my jaw was unhinged from my mouth.  How in the world could anyone let a stranger kidnap you and do kinky shit to you...and get turned on by it? Well...it works and it's sexy as hell!

Valla is American on camping trip out in the wilderness in New Zealand's South Island.  One night at a karaoke bar, Valla finds herself being frisky by singing to a handsome yet mysterious man. She later gets abducted from her camp site, and when she wakes up, she's in the mystery man's cabin on the other side of the island.

The two quickly evolve into an erotic relationship.  Showing Valla a sexual side she didn't know
existed. And boyyyyy did he really show her...

"My name is Judge, petal, Brocan Judge. Judge is what you will call me until I'm ready for you to refer to me as something else."

Judge is a Dom as well as a local.  He's not so tall, dark and mysterious anymore. He takes Valla in to his very capable hands, literally. He was firm with her yet he still maintained a sort of gentleness.  The sex scenes will leave you quite hot & bothered.  They were very steamy...make sure you have a fan near by to help cool you off.

Or a cold shower works as well.

Nabbed in New Zealand is fast paced and a book you won't be able to put down. Make sure you pick up this sexy BDSM novel!

Synopsis:

We're thirteen girls, captive, slave to our master.
A master we've never seen.
Obedience will become all we know in our shallow existence. It is the only emotion we're permitted to feel.
When we're bad, we're punished. When we're good, we're rewarded.
Our scars run deep. Yet we survive, because we have to... because HE teaches us to.
All of us are special, we feel it with everything we are.
He has us for a reason, but it's a reason we don't know.
We've never seen his face, but we know that something deeply broken lies beneath the darkness. With every touch, with every punishment, we know it.
Then something changed.
He showed me who he truly is.
Now I want him.
I'll go against everything I know to be with him.

A monster.

My monster.

Loving him is a sin, but a sinner I am. I won't stop until I see every part of him. Even the parts he keeps locked deep down inside.

I am Number Thirteen, and this is my story.
No one said it was pretty, or right, but it's mine.

Prologue:

My boots crunch in the yellow autumn leaves as I walk towards the schoolyard. I didn’t want to come today, but Momma told me I had no choice. She said school is for smart kids, and if I don’t go, then how am I ever going to get smart? I could get smart, the man on the television tells me everything I need to know. But she claims that I can’t make friends with the man on the television, that the only way to make friends is to go to school. I could have told her that I don’t need friends to be successful, but she’d only tell me I’m being silly.

So I came to school.

I didn’t tell her that there are bullies here, or that every day they push me around and shove me into lockers. That would make me sound weak, and now that my dad is working, and my brother is away because he didn’t like the school here, I’ve had to become the man of the house. There’s no room for weakness.

Momma tells me bullies pick on the kids who are victims. I think she’s wrong. I’m not a victim; I’m just a kid. They pick on me because I’m different. I don’t look at the girls like they do; I don’t try to sneak out to parties. I’m only thirteen. I’m just there to learn, then I go home and I take care of my family, because, I’m the man of the house.

Like I said.

The shrill sound of the school bell ringing, tells me I’m late. I pick up into a jog, rounding the corner and into the schoolyard. It’s a cool winter day, and I have to pinch my coat together to stop it from flapping in the icy breeze. I can see the students piling in the front doors, and I turn my jog into a run. I’m focusing so heavily on the doors, that I don’t see them. A strong hand lashes out, catching hold of my sleeve and tugging me into the alleyway that runs down beside my school.

I always knew this alley was dangerous.

My body is slammed against a hard wooden fence, and I set eyes on my bullies. Four of them. They’re all bigger than me, all of them on the football team. They’re from a few grades up, and they’ve just turned sixteen. The leader of the group, Marcel, steps forward first. He scrunches his nose in disgust, as if I’ve just dragged myself out of a gutter, as if I’m offending him. He leans in close, and I can smell cigarettes on his breath.

Smoking is not cool.

“You’ve been trying to avoid me, Will. Did you really think you could hide at home with Mommy, and never have to come out again?”

I stare at him, wondering why he chose me to pick on. I didn’t even know his name until he flagged me down and shoved my head down a toilet six months ago. I was just a kid, keeping my head down, studying and learning like I should. Now here I am, pressed against a fence, wondering why they decided I was good enough to take extra special effort to attack. I don’t bother answering him; it’ll only make him worse. My answers won’t make a difference. If I answer, I’m wrong. If I don’t answer, I’m wrong.

“Are you fucking mute, you little cunt?”

My body jerks. I hate that word, it’s so…vulgar. I let my eyes move to the four other guys standing like protective pack animals around Marcel. I don’t know their names; they’re not significant enough. The tall boy with orange hair looks nervous, like he knows what’s about to happen could put him in a world of trouble - but he’s still here, still making the choice to stay. The other two guys are stony faced, and fully aware of their part in this attack.

I still don’t answer him. If I just let them beat me, it’ll go away quicker.

“You’re a freak, Will, do you know that?” Marcel hisses, leaning in closer.

Of course I know that. I wouldn’t be pinned against a fence if I didn’t know that.

Bullies are so dumb.

Marcel raises his fist, and brings it down over my face, cracking my nose so hard blood spurts onto his shirt. I don’t cry out, because that’s what he wants, but the pain radiating through my head is nearly enough to make me beg. Nearly. Marcel takes hold of my shirt, and his grey eyes scan my face. He’s panting, as though I’ve shoved him into an alley and challenged him. Like this is my fault. The world is twisted like that, and it’s a lesson I’ve learned the hard way.

“You know,” he growls, locking eyes with me. “I heard my girl saying how handsome you were the other day. Do you know how much it sucks to have my girl saying that a freak is handsome? Especially a freak that’s only what? Thirteen years old? Your dick would be no bigger than a tube of damned lipstick, yet she thinks you’re handsome!”

I wouldn’t know how much it sucks to have a girl say that, because I don’t have a girl.

Again, bullies are dumb.

“Don’t answer me, you little twerp. It doesn’t matter. I will make sure by the time you leave this alley; you’re not handsome anymore. I won’t have my competition being some little weasel that can’t even speak.”

I taste blood filling my mouth, and my nose is pounding so heavily I’m almost sure I can hear my own heart in my head. I don’t take my eyes from Marcel. They say look danger right in the eye; it gives you power and strength. I don’t feel powerful right now, in fact, I don’t really feel anything. Someone like me doesn’t fight, I’m the underdog, and underdogs are weak. Everyone knows it.

Marcel reaches into his back pocket, and pulls out a pocket knife. The heart that feels like it’s in my head begins thumping even harder. I try not to show fear, I try to stand tall and take what he dishes out with strength, but that’s not so easy when your attacker is waving around a pocket knife.

“She said it was your eyes,” he begins, lazily tracing circles on his palm with the blade. “She said they’re the most stunning eyes she’s ever seen. Like the ocean.”

I didn’t know my eyes were like the ocean.

He takes hold of my shirt, yanking me close. “No one is more appealing to my girl, than me.”

They say bad things happen in slow motion, they’re right. I feel Marcel throw me down onto the floor. I feel every movement as my body slammed into the dirt. I feel his body weight coming over me, his knees pinning me down as I squirm. I feel his friend take my arms, pulling them above my head, while another puts a hand over my mouth. With my nose pouring with blood, that makes it difficult to breathe.

I feel the knife ripping into my skin as I thrash my head from side to side, and I can feel the blood pouring down the sides of my face. Each time he attempts to stab me, I move and the knife only slices through the skin around my eye. My pained wails fill the alley, but no one comes to help me. No one is around in the one moment of my life that I need them.

I know what I’ll remember most about that day, and that is the moment he finally manages to drive the knife into my eye.

I don’t feel pain, not right away. Instead I hear the popping sound, as his blade pierces right through. Then I feel pressure as he twists. It’s only when he yanks it out of its socket, that I start to scream. Then the pain is unlike anything I’ve ever felt. Words cannot begin to explain the horror I feel as darkness begins to invade my body. I know my face is covered in blood, because it drips down to soak my hair. I know I bite his friends hand so hard I nearly take off his finger.

I don’t know what they’re saying, or even acknowledge the moment when they run away. All I know was that I am bleeding to death in an alley, missing an eye. Red fills my vision as the blood begins to cover every part of my face. I know I’m still screaming, even though I can’t hear it. All I can hear is an excessive ringing in my ears. I can’t even move my hands to cover my eye, in an attempt to protect the empty socket. I can do nothing but lay and scream, witnessing a pain that I’ll never witness again in my life, and wondering what I did to deserve it.

No one deserves to die.

But I do die that day.

And in my place, a monster is born.

Blog Tour Review- That One Summer by C.J. Duggan

That One Summer (Summer #3)
by C.J. Duggan
Release Date: 12/17/13

Summary from Goodreads:
Loving Chris Henderson would be wrong. Diabolically disastrous. I mean, what is there about him to love? He’s moody, bossy, brooding, a control freak, and that’s on a good day … but there was one achingly obvious fact that haunted my every thought, every minute of every day …

He sure could kiss.

As the countdown to the new millennium begins, there is one thing everyone agrees on: no one wants to be in Onslow for New Year’s Eve.

So that can only mean one thing: road trip!

No longer the mousey, invisible, shy girl from years ago, TammyMaskala is finally making up for all those lost summers. A new year with new friends, which astoundingly includes the bossy boy behind the bar, Chris Henderson.

She likes her new friends (at least most of them), so why does she secretly feel so out of place?

After chickening out on the trip, a last-minute change of heart sees Tammy racing to the Onslow Hotel, fearing she’s missed her chance for a ride. The last thing she expected to meet was a less-than-happy Onslow Boy leaning against his black panel van.

Now the countdown begins to reach the others at Point Shank before the party is over and the new year has begun. Alone in a car with only the infuriating Chris Henderson, Tammy can’t help but feel this is a disastrous start to what could have been a great adventure. But when the awkward road trip takes an unexpected turn, Tammy soon discovers that the way her traitorous heart feels about Chris is the biggest disaster of all.

Fogged up windows, moonlight swimming, bad karaoke and unearthed secrets; after this one summer nothing will ever be the same again.

My Review:
You lot remember Chris, right? The Onslow boy that always has a frown on his face and is deeply serious? Yeah, this book will totally change your mind. Don't get me wrong, he still has his signature "look" but it's so much more endearing that you can't help but fall in love with him. Who are we kidding, I love ALL the Onslow boys. I may like Chris more than all of them though. Scratch that, I think I like Adam the most. But that's beside the point...

Anyways...

That One Summer takes place during Christmas of 1999. We get the pov of Tammy, Amy's best friend. Tammy is smart and doesn't really "fit in" with the Onslow boys and the girlfriends. At least in her mind she doesn't fit in. I enjoyed Tammy's voice and I think she is just as fabulous as the last two protagonists. I think so far I relate most to her.

Tammy is hilarious! I loved the flirty-ness between her and Chris. Sometimes I don't think he knew what to do with her.

"Just because your friends put up with you doesn't me I have to. If the choice is to be subjected to your pissy-pants attitude or hide under the table, well I clearly choose the table."

See? She's hilarious and can so hold her own. She just needs to believe it.

Chris is perfect in every way. He's the responsible one who takes care of everyone. He doesn't complain or whine for having to be the adult of the group.

I thought the story line was a perfect. The gang decides to celebrate the incoming millennia by going on a camping trip. By doing so they take a long road trip to their destination. Guess who gets stuck with Chris for the whole road trip?

Yep, Tammy does! All that extra time to be with Mr.Pissy-Pants. Ha.

And let me tell you... You can't NOT have a story about an Onslow boy and not have some sexy scenes. Oh and romantic ones that make you swoon right out of your panties.

"Because if I'd had to choose perfect, I would have just chosen you." -Chris

Or this...

"What I'm saying is I want to go to the ends of the earth with you." -Chris

Sigh...

That One Summer is extra funny and even more romantic. It's the side of Chris you've been dying for. I can't wait to read the next books in this deliciously amazing series!

Excerpt:
Cuba’s POV
Not exactly a meet-cute…
The room closed in, making me sweat. I hadn’t talked to her in over a year, and now here we were, face-to-face. Two ex-lovers who hated each other.
I had to get away from her.
Dovey tilted her head as I stood, giving me a scathing glare. “Leaving so soon? Yeah, go ahead, cut and run. Coward.”
I ignored her and tried to get Weinstein’s attention, to let her know she could flunk me for all I cared.
“Before you go, tell me one thing, and I’ll make sure we aren’t partners in this class. You’ll be free of me,” she said.
“What?” I asked, my voice going all raspy, blocking all the words I wanted to say. They weren’t things she ever needed to hear.
“Why so cruel to me? You aren’t to the other girls you date and dump. Why single me out?”
I seethed. “And it didn’t take you long to find someone else, now did it? How is Spider? Does he get you hot like I did?”
She smirked. “He’s fine. He thinks I hung the moon. He thinks you’re an ass. I agree.”
I tightened my fists and pressed them against my thighs, swearing to myself I wasn’t responding to her bait. I swore. She was a dangerous game I didn’t need to play.
Suddenly, her face fell. Was she recalling the last time we were together? Was she remembering how I used to…
“I trusted you,” she whispered, all her anger seeming to be gone. The unsteadiness of her voice undid me, sent me right over the edge of that precarious cliff I’d been hanging on to by the skin of my teeth.
Yeah, she hadn’t been the only one who’d trusted me. I’d ruined them all. Every last one. Dark thoughts assaulted me, of the blood I had on my hands.
Snap! My pencil broke and small pieces flew across my desk and into the empty space between us.
I wanted to pummel my desk until my fists bled. I wanted to punch a hole through the wall, the floor, my face.
Everything was my fault. Just mine.
She’d been collateral damage, the kind that breaks everyone involved. And I was sorry for it, but sometimes you do what hurts because it’s for the best.
But she was my kryptonite, leaving me no option but to hurt her. Again.
I didn’t think about my cruel words, I just said them. “You were a curiosity, Dovey. You weren’t the usual BA girl, and I wanted a taste. That’s all. I moved on when it got boring. Get over it.”
Author Bio:

Review- Strike by Holly S. Roberts

Goodreads Synopsis
Strike is the second book in the Completion Series. There is no connection to Play (book I) except the sports theme. Strike is a standalone HEA novel.

Nineteen-year-old Jaycee Shumway breaks into professional baseball player, Reed Tyler’s home, to steal the second most valuable set of balls he owns. Neither of them expect their striking attraction or battle of wills to lead them to a homerun.

Jaycee has more than herself to worry about. When Reed discovers she has a younger brother and sister, he’s quickly caught up in their world of need and heartbreak.

Baseball season begins and the separation puts Reed and Jaycee’s game on hold. With bases loaded and hearts on the line, will Reed convince Jaycee that she needs him to win or will Jaycee strike out and walk off the field forever?

This New Adult book is intended for mature audiences.

Review--
Strike is a light-hearted, bubble gum perfect romance novel. I was immediately engrossed the first few pages of the book. But it fell short just a little bit.

Jaycee is taking care of her younger brother and sister after their mother died. She's twenty and has the weight of the world on her shoulders. Desperate for money, Jaycee decides to rob the famous baseball player, Reed Tyler, of his balls. Perv. I meant his signed baseballs!!

The night she breaks in, she gets caught by none other than Reed himself. It starts a whirlwind of emotions and lots of hot sex. Later of course. But it's basically love at first sight. Reed is perfect in every way; it's a bonus that he's a professional baseball player.

I enjoyed Strike immensely. The sex scenes were scorching, Reed is the perfect guy, Jaycee and her family are so cute. But I feel like the whole story as a whole was too perfect. Here we have Jaycee(and fam) living on the edge of poverty in a run down, one bedroom trailer and not to mention a terrible neighborhood. She goes to rob a famous baseball player and in turn ends up being an object of the said baseball player's affection.

Now don't get me wrong, it's not that I don't think it can happen, I do. But the book is fast paced. I feel like we don't get to have much time getting to fall in love with them as a couple because they themselves don't take time to fall in love. They just do.

Towards the end in the 75%-80% of the book, I got restless. Nothing was happening. All it was, was sex. Throw in some scenes with Reeds friends and Jaycee + her siblings and we have what makes up most of Strike.  I would have loved to see more baseball scenes, more plot around his ass of a mother, maybe throw in more of why Jaycee wanted to steal the baseballs in the first place. Or from whom she was going to buy them from. All we get is that Reed handled it and it was done.

I felt like the end of the book the author just wanted to rush and get it over with. She just glossed over everything and I was left with feeling like the story was again too perfect; yet I had no idea how or why.

Passion was not a problem nor was the actual writing itself. I just wish it would have slowed down a bit.

"I'll rock your world, baby, and give you the best mind-blowing fuck of your life."

Reed is sweet as well as a dominant. He's an alpha male if I ever saw one! There is very light bdsm in here. Very light. I loved him most as a character. He is what made me love the book despite the disagreements I have.

"I will fight for us if you won't, and I. Will. Win."

Another quote to make you fall in love? Don't mind if I do.

"I want these." Pinch to my nipples. "I want them swinging above me while I watch us fuck." One hand moved back to my ass, his fingers digging in at the same time his hips bucked forward. "I want to bury myself deep and make you scream my name."

Overall I did like the story. Don't go into it thinking it will be a deep book about a poor girl who gets the rich guy. Instead, read it as a fun story about a beautiful young woman trying to make in the world caring for her younger siblings; and meets such a beautiful and sexy man who wants more than just to be in her pants. If you feel that books like this aren't for you, try it anyways because Reed is something else.

They've both been burned before, so when their feelings of lust, desire, and wanting are inflamed in the heat of the moment, will they finally be able to get over the pain of the past or will their relationship be reduced to ashes before it can ever really begin?

Excerpt:

Following after her, I find her bent over in front of the refrigerator holding the door open and staring at the contents inside. The way her ass is sticking out unleashes something inside me, and I go semi-hard just from watching her. I instantly feel the need to show her that I’m not some weak, damaged man. I walk up behind her and grab her by the waist, turning her around. Kicking the door shut behind me, I push her to the island, and if I thought I could get away with it, I’d be pressing myself up against so she could feel what she’s doing to me. She’s staring up at me with confusion in her big, brown eyes, and I wonder what the hell I’m doing.

“Hop up,” I tell her, and she complies immediately, surprising me by not fighting it.

I place my hands on her knees, spreading them and stepping closer to her so my hips are between her legs. As best as I can, I take a hold each one and wrap them around my waist, and she involuntarily tightens them around my middle, although her ass is still firmly planted on the counter. This isn’t how I imagined her legs wrapped around me for the first time, but I can’t deny that I don’t love the feel of her gripping my waist tightly.

“Arms around my neck, Charlie.” The confused expression on her face deepens, but she does as she’s told.

“What are you doing, Knox?” she asks, looking up at me, her face only inches from mine.

Swallowing hard, I ignore her question and bring my forehead to hers. “Just do this for me, okay? Don’t fight me on it. Just this once. I need to do this.”

She nods, and I’m not sure she knows what to expect, confirming it when I pull her off the counter. Gasping, she starts to struggle, and I have to brace myself against the counter to keep from falling. Jesus, this woman is so damn defiant, and it can be both sexy as hell and annoyingly irritating.

“Knox, what the hell?! Put me down!”

Fuck, I know I should probably listen to her, but I’ve gotten to this point and I’m not stopping until I can prove to myself that I haven’t completely lost all of my strength. She’s not exactly heavy, but her struggling is making it difficult to keep my one good arm around her as I make my way down the hallway, heading into the guest bedroom. Somewhere along the way she stops struggling, apparently having given up and figuring that it’s just easier to let me do this.

I’m slightly out of breath by the time I get to her bed, and I’m more than happy to release her from my arms. Relief washes over me when she plops on the bed, bouncing once. Whether the relief is from having been able to do it or from having freed myself of her weight. Either way, I’m fucking ecstatic, and even though I’m breathing heavy, it was a small victory for me and my bruised ego.

I begin backing away from her because I know the verbal assault is coming, and I don’t blame her, but I don’t regret it.

My Review:

Warning: Reading this book may cause you to fall head over heels for Knox and Charlie in such a way that you'll be unable to move on for days. Possibly even weeks. They're THAT good! Don't say I didn't try to warn you.

Incinerate is the second book in the Explosive series, and though each book can technically be read as a standalone, I HIGHLY recommend reading Ignite before starting on this one. Ignite centers around Jace and Lexi, both of whom are constant figures in Incinerate seeing as Jace and Knox are best friends and practically brothers. You also don’t want to miss the hilarious introduction of Knox in the first book, which really sets the ground for what you’ll see here.

Knox Wellington is very closed off and bitter when it comes to love. He was hurt and betrayed in the past which is why he’s so jaded about relationships now, and because of that, casual hook-ups are all he’s looking for in-between his duty as an EOD specialist in the Army. He’s damn good at his job, but all of that comes crashing down around him when he and his team are seriously injured in the line of duty.

“I’m fucking alone, and I’m going to die this way in this godforsaken country. Shattered. Broken. And completely alone.”

Charlotte Davenport is an army brat who helps wounded service members. After having caught her fiancé cheating on her, she has no interest in dating - especially not a soldier. Charlie is in for a surprise when her newest assignment turns out to be the rude guy that she met at a bar the night before, which just so happens to be Knox.

Both are headstrong, stubborn characters who have had their fair share of heartbreak. When they are partnered together, will they be able to co-exist and find common ground, or will the passion between them incinerate everything in their paths? Read to find out!

Knox is officially my first book boyfriend for 2014. He’s hot, sweet, caring, loyal to a fault, and though he has a bad habit of jumping to conclusions, I wouldn’t have him any other way. As his story progresses and you learn more about his back story, you completely understand why he’s so cynical and you can’t really blame the guy.

Charlie, for me, was a great heroine and I officially have a girl crush. She wasn’t whiny or needy at all. She’s independent, smart, caring, and can go head to head with Knox when he decides to be combative. She’s quick to say what she won’t tolerate, and it’s a refreshing change of pace from the female characters that I’ve become so used to seeing. I absolutely adored her and she is exactly the kind of friend that I would want by my side.

Incinerate is Tessa’s sophomore novel and she didn’t disappoint! In fact, she knocked this one out of the ballpark entirely. I love it when an author manages to outdo themselves, and I can’t wait to see what else she has in store for us! The only problem I really had with this story was trying to figure out who I loved more: Knox or Charlie.

I give Incinerate 5 explosive stars, though honestly, I would rate it higher if I could. It captured my attention and refused to let go, even after I was done reading! It made me feel, smile, curse, and talk to my kindle like a crazy person. What more can I ask for?

*An ARC was kindly provided for an honest review. The fact that it was an ARC in no way reflects what I rate a book.*

About Tessa:

I'm a twenty six year old book junkie who is also obsessed with sports. Bengals, Buckeyes, Reds are my teams! I work for the government during the day, hang out with Air National Guard on the weekends, and am married to a guy 15 inches taller than me. We're quite the pair! We currently live right outside of Dayton, OH with our two cats.

I've been reading since I was a kid. My mom was a librarian, so it was a given. Heck, she even made sure we watched Wishbone instead of the Smurfs. In 2011 when I graduated from college, my mom bought me a Nook, and then in the summer of 2012 I found this amazing site called Goodreads. I was introduced to so many amazing indie/self-published authors. After reading almost 400 books that year, my husband gave me the push to finally sit down and write my own. It was a rocky start, but over time the words started flowing and I couldn't get Jace and Lexi out of my head.

If I’m not writing or looking through tons of photos of hot men, all in the name of research, then you can probably find me curled up with my Kindle, ignoring the rest of the world. I love my sports almost as much as I love my books. My other obsessions include red wine, hot men, country music, and all things Grace Potter.

Synopsis:

Kidnapped. Taken to a private island.

I never thought this could happen to me. I never imagined one chance meeting on the eve of my eighteenth birthday could change my life so completely.

Now I belong to him. To Julian. To a man who is as ruthless as he is beautiful – a man whose touch makes me burn. A man whose tenderness I find more devastating than his cruelty.

My captor is an enigma. I don’t know who he is or why he took me. There is a darkness inside him – a darkness that scares me even as it draws me in.

My name is Nora Leston, and this is my story.

WARNING: This is NOT a traditional romance. It contains disturbing subject matter, including themes of questionable consent and Stockholm Syndrome, as well as graphic sexual content. This is a work of fiction intended for a mature, 18+ audience only. The author neither endorses nor condones this type of behavior.

Excerpt:

It’s evening now. With every minute that passes, I’m starting to get more and more anxious at the thought of seeing my captor again.

The novel that I’ve been reading can no longer hold my interest. I put it down and walk in circles around the room.

I am dressed in the clothes Beth had given me earlier. It’s not what I would’ve chosen to wear, but it’s better than a bathrobe. A sexy pair of white lacy panties and a matching bra for underwear. A pretty blue sundress that buttons in the front. Everything fits me suspiciously well. Has he been stalking me for a while? Learning everything about me, including my clothing size?

The thought makes me sick.

I am trying not to think about what’s to come, but it’s impossible. I don’t know why I’m so sure he’ll come to me tonight. It’s possible he has an entire harem of women stashed away on this island, and he visits each one only once a week, like sultans used to do.

Yet somehow I know he’ll be here soon. Last night had simply whetted his appetite. I know he’s not done with me, not by a long shot.

Finally, the door opens.

He walks in like he owns the place. Which, of course, he does.

I am again struck by his masculine beauty. He could’ve been a model or a movie star, with a face like his. If there was any fairness in the world, he would’ve been short or had some other imperfection to offset that face.

But he doesn’t. His body is tall and muscular, perfectly proportioned. I remember what it feels like to have him inside me, and I feel an unwelcome jolt of arousal.

He’s again wearing jeans and a T-shirt. A grey one this time. He seems to favor simple clothing, and he’s smart to do so. His looks don’t need any enhancement.

He smiles at me. It’s his fallen angel smile—dark and seductive at the same time. “Hello, Nora.”

I don’t know what to say to him, so I blurt out the first thing that pops into my head. “How long are you going to keep me here?”

He cocks his head slightly to the side. “Here in the room? Or on the island?”

“Both.”

“Beth will show you around tomorrow, take you swimming, if you’d like,” he says, approaching me. “You won’t be locked in, unless you do something foolish.”

“Such as?” I ask, my heart pounding in my chest as he stops next to me and lifts his hand to stroke my hair.

“Trying to harm Beth or yourself.” His voice is soft, his gaze hypnotic as he looks down on me. The way he’s touching my hair is oddly relaxing.

I blink, trying to break his spell. “And what about on the island? How long will you keep me here?”

His hand caresses my face now, curves around my cheek. I catch myself leaning into his touch, like a cat getting petted, and I immediately stiffen.

His lips curve into a knowing smile. The bastard knows the effect he has on me. “A long time, I hope,” he says.

For some reason, I’m not surprised. He wouldn’t have bothered bringing me all the way here if he just wanted to fuck me a few times. I’m terrified, but I’m not surprised.

I gather my courage and ask the next logical question. “Why did you kidnap me?”

The smile leaves his face. He doesn’t answer, just looks at me with an inscrutable blue gaze.

I begin to shake. “Are you going to kill me?”

“No, Nora, I won’t kill you.”

His denial reassures me, although he could obviously be lying. “Are you going to sell me?” I can barely get the words out. “Like to be a prostitute or something?”

“No,” he says softly. “Never. You’re mine and mine alone.”

I feel a tiny bit calmer, but there is one more thing I have to know. “Are you going to hurt me?”

For a moment, he doesn’t answer again. Something dark briefly flashes in his eyes. “Probably,” he says quietly.

And then he leans down and kisses me, his warm lips soft and gentle on mine.

For a second, I stand there frozen, unresponsive. I believe him. I know he’s telling the truth when he says he’ll hurt me. There’s something in him that scares me—that has scared me from the very beginning.

He’s nothing like the boys I’ve gone on dates with. He’s capable of anything.

And I’m completely at his mercy.

I think about trying to fight him again. That would be the normal thing to do in my situation. The brave thing to do.

And yet I don’t do it.

I can feel the darkness inside him. There’s something wrong with him. His outer beauty hides something monstrous underneath.

I don’t want to unleash that darkness. I don’t know what will happen if I do.

So I stand still in his embrace and let him kiss me. And when he picks me up again and takes me to bed, I don’t try to resist in any way.

Instead, I close my eyes and give in to the sensations.
